I read an article that Marshawn Lynch decided to play Mr G in this film to atone for initially reacting badly when his sister came out as a lesbian when they were teenagers. Fortunately, they patched things up, with him giving her away at her wedding.
Emma seligman: Oh you wanna be in this gay movie for your sister? Okay here’s your script that includes a *sexist monologue about how women are evil* Oh no lmao
@@riffshe20 From what I understand that rant wasn't even in the script necessarily a LOT of his lines were improv...so... There's that. I guess that he just fully understood that the character that he was playing was a bitter divorced misogynist.
@@AnxietyRatright. Like they gave the man a divorced & h*rny magazine to read in class lol. So he def acted a lil insane but a lot of heart & sweetness came through in his character, which I think is truly Marshawn as well. He’s a good actor, agree w you!
some ppl take this movie way too seriously and i think that’s why they end up not liking it like you can’t think too hard abt it it’s just funny and goofy
To be fair, the whole miscommunication/liar reveal part of the story, really took me out. Not a big fan of those types of movies, especially when the trope isn't done that well.
I feel you on 'Bottoms'. It grew on me over time, but there's a bit that I disliked during my first viewing. I still had a few good laughs in and felt sorry for Hazel.
I think that r*pe line that PJ said was really offputting and probably gave me the ick for this movie the first time 🥲 Nothing will beat “But I’m a Cheerleader” as my favorite lesbian comedy though!
@@SophiaPhannn I liked bottoms bc most of the jokes were satirical and had funny social commentary. The r*** line isn't making fun of sa victims, its laughing at how sad it is that its so common (when they put their hands up for "grey" area stuff, really drives the point they are making). the movie is less of a lesbian comedy and more of satire of patriarchy. Kinda like the barbie movie but way less restrained. and it makes sense that PJ says the line since her character has no tact, or true care for feminism. She just wants sex
seeing this film in theaters was great bc mostly people who i assume were queer, showed up. I think we need goofy gross coming of age stories that depict young women, especially sapphic young women. Often queer coming of age stories have been sad and tragic, but i believe a bit of levity would go a long way. If “super bad, “Napoleon Dynamite” “Pineapple express”, and “Booksmart” can exist, so can bottoms.
I feel the same as you about Bottoms, I didn't think it was bad on first watch but I didn't think it lived up to the hype. It grew on me though, and I like having a queer movie that isn't sad or drama ridden...or about coming out(there's SO MANY of those). Them being gay is part of the plot but it's kind of just a trait of the characters rather than the driving force behind it.
I was so glad that Rachel Sennot's PJ didn't get the girl she wanted, PJ fucking *SUCKED* meanwhile Josie was actually genuinely redeemable and she actually began to like Isabelle for her
You got to admit, Nicholas has range though! And he takes unserious, so seriously 😂 Him playing Jeff here, Henry in RWB and even Hayes in The Idea of You. New romcom King! Love your reactions ❤ I needed this during the exams 💕
Hearing him being cast as the new live-action He-Man is SO WRONG. He might make for a great Prince Adam with another actor as He-Man. I don't have confidence in what Mattel wants to do with their toys-turned-live-action films post-'Barbie' (2023). Even the recently announced 'Monster High' live-action film for theaters has me scared.
I'm surprised at how many people dislike PJ. Yes, she's a liar, manipulative and arrogant, but she's also lonely, horny and unloved. Her behaviour may be more of a coping mechanism than her true personality. I think she and Hazel would make a very cute couple, and the way they act after their kiss, I think they really will be. I think I'll write a fanfiction...😊
i didn’t love it in my first watch but it grew on me later. i think some jokes didn’t land well on me but i love watching loser lesbians to heal my teenager self. lol
Everyone is talking about the footballer locked in the cage, but almost no one noticed that the other footballer sitting next to the cage was getting a blowjob from a girl!
Yeah, this movie has a lot of kind of surreal absurdists humor in it... It's not based in our reality... And so you have to go into it kind of knowing that and accepting that as a fact of the reality of the movie... Like literally NO school would be like "can the untalented ugly gays come to the office"... A real school would say the students names... So yeah it's absolutely ridiculous in some of the dialogue and situations that happen... But I'm positive that it's purposefully done this way. The movies reality and our reality are not meant to match up. But yeah it's a type of humor that isn't everybody's cup of tea... And so I kind of understand why your straight friends didn't really jive with it, i guess. They have kind of more hurdles to get over in a way. They have all of the overtly queer material in the movie and then additionally they have all this weird humor and dialogue that they have to get over to find the humour... Whereas a lot of gay people who have watched this movie JUST have to get over the surrealist humor. 🤷♀️ Idk.
Yeah I totally understand that! I found it difficult to make a video on it because I can’t overly analyze it in my usual commentary style 😂 but it’s fun to just watch and enjoy

When I sat down to watch the movie for the first time, I had heard people liked it, and it was about a lesbian fight club. I thought it was going to be a serious movie so I was definitely surprised when all the little ridiculous things started happening, and then as those little ridiculous moments became bigger and more ridiculous I realized I was watching a comedy and I thought it was so funny. I really enjoyed the movie and it made me wish I had bought it instead of renting it.
At first glance, I thought this was about the 1990s British sitcom "Bottom", starring Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson. I forgot this was a film reaction channel, not a TV reaction channel.
This made me want to watch the movie. I haven’t seen it. I also love the football players are always in their uniforms lol it reminds me of Glee how all the cheerleaders only wore their cheer uniforms
I thought the first half was hilarious and the second half was a let down. I thought it was gonna be The Wolf of Wall Street in a high school and it wasn’t that at all. Also the ending on the football field came out of nowhere. If you have a movie that’s somewhat grounded and then out of nowhere people casually die and no one bats an eye, it’s really weird
I feel like I'm struggling with this movie. From what I've seen, it's entertaining and I love to see more LGBTQ+ comedies being made but I feel a little weird watching it cause of how it's about high school students looking to have sex so adult me is a little uncomfortable 😭😂 Kinda also why I haven't seen Euphoria.
