Solid stuff. Will add some of this to our BJJ takedowns class. If you have an opponent that manages to stand up and you’re gripping over on the tie up there’s a horrible shoulder throw instead of the hip throw too; we don’t really practice it because there’s just no good breakfall.
Isto e excelente.
Could this setup work for mma? Cuz I feel like the 2 on 1 or the Russian tie is not the best choice when striking is allowed. Please help me any one because I really need a setup for the hip throw in a mma match.
cheyennew811 hard to gauge size difference. Unable to reach the lat means they are big or you are small In the case of they are big as long as you are effectively strong then I believe you should be able to complete the technique (possibly modified as mentioned to grab the head instead of lat) In the case of you are small you may not be able to complete the technique easily. It is still possible with setup such as in MMA maybe a strike to lower the posture then the trip may still be a threat and you use their own resistance to off balance for the throw but there are limits to everything. To clarify it seems like a 110lb person is likely to bench less than bodyweight whereas a 135lb person (still on the smaller end) will bench possibly more than bodyweight. There needs to be some foundation for muscle mass/strength and most people dont have much at 110 and will get larger than that once they have the strength). Other than percentage just the amount of strength proportional gets to a size where the human body doesnt get much bigger; so if a person is 60lb bigger 110:170lb vs 135:195lb I'm sure the 135 could whereas I'm unsure the 110 could. Probably most important though is you have to try it for yourself. There will always be a limit and its up to you to learn yours. Maybe you have the ability to spar up to 265lb and you find out you cap at 220 for this technique but your cap for most people with experience is 180 (difference in size, experience, build in both you and the opponent) Were I to guess though if you are 135+ this move will work for the majority of weights and would be reasonable to add to your arsenal
I think context has to be taken into consideration with every tutorial on this channel. Some opponents in some situations are not the best people for this to work on. That is why there is a framework of other options from this particular position. They all inter thread together to formulate an attacking base when utilising the russian tie. Try it in practise is my best advice and see who you find it!
I am sorry to hear that! Not every move is for everyone! I am sure you will find others more to your taste on this channel!! There a literally hundreds of awesome ones
What moves do you like? Just curious. I like a Russian tie in general a lot because it allows you to have a clear dominant grip which is like a trigger. That means they know you will be in a good position, they know it's coming ... But so do you, and that is what I like about it. They are very open exposed and it's good for self defense too.
If you don't like it because you're small I don't know ... Use tactics. If you don't like it because you're big ... Try the same position but use an opposite cross shoulder throw. That is a move that only works if you're a manhandler, big mean throw from hell. His throw stays connected much better and I like it but I ESPECIALLY like the Russian tie that move is go to. People don't use it in MMA because I guess they are too busy doing other things that are "normal" But even in MMA and defense it's a great move to strike from. People use all sorts of moves in wrestling. I can't express how much I like grips as opposed to just shots or clinches personally and this has got to be one of the best.
@@davisbarr9112 people don't use russian ties in mma because a two on one is a death sentence unless you are against the cage, notice how it exposes an entire section of his head and leaves his opponent with a completely free arm, not to mention any knees.
Ideally you want to combine being creative or being meta... ideally you want to combine hedging your bets by using high statistically useful moves with also hedging your bets by using whatever moves you can from a unilateral position having a position of advantage ... I started learning BJJ very very early and that's the only running I've had with MMA everything else I just I've always done. ...learn fight hit the ground running and go I'm not interested in meta personally. if someone wants to pay me for fighting that's fine but I'm expensive and I'm not going to be proving anyting while getting more injuries than I already have so you can either pay me or not I'm not trying to get paid but that's if what you want to do go right ahead. I don't trust that much. So I've learned for myself. I do it because I do.
Clear instructive technique and Straight to the content, amazing channel and information, thank you 🙏🏻
Demonstrates the importance of being competent on both sides, as this is a lefty throw from a righty grip.
Love these videos I’ve watched them over and over I am going to practice this and make it a staple of my stand up game.

Amazing. I ll try this thanks
Great, you will have to let me know how you got on with it!
Excelente! Obrigado pelos vídeos! Very Nice!
I love the Russian arm drag, this throw in particular, looks really effective for the street. Their head wants to roll right to the cement.
Its good one bro
Excellent , thanks coach !

Fake a hook punch and swim for an underhook grip

If the opponent is significantly larger and heavier, is this applicable? Such as if they are so large you cannot grip their lat on the far side?

If you weigh 3kg and your opponent ways 7.5 tonnes, it won't work. I'm pretty confident about that.
mortal!!!
