I lost my father suddenly when I was twelve years old, he was everything to me. And even now, 21 years later, I still cry when I remember him, and I don’t think that will ever change.
These songs are about the experience of losing someone close to you - whether it be a parent, sibling, child, or friend. These songs convey the deep sense of missing someone who was so intertwined with your life that it feels impossible to go on without them. They explore the hardship and confusion that come with losing a loved one, and the heartbreak that follows. We unfortunately have to go through times of grief and if you are in such a time of your life right now, then I hope that these songs can help you to get through it. I hope you’ll find some healing through this music compilation and that you'll have people around you who can offer support, lend a listening ear, and pray for you. It's okay to feel the way you do.

This song is about a friend of mine who passed away. Hearing about his death was the worst news I've ever heard in my life; it broke my heart. It's the first song I wrote about the situation that did the way I was feeling true justice.

This song is about letting go & the hollowness you feel when you loose someone close to you. Floating into the realms of what was and trying to pull that into your new reality. ‘Hollow’ became a secret room for me to transmit what I needed to say.

Our mom didn’t want to go to the hospital at the end. We took her home and were able to take care of her there. There was this lightness and warmth in terms of the way we treated each other a couple of days before she passed. It was one of the most beautiful experiences in my life-in a bittersweet way. We had a specific conversation where she was confident and told us she was done. ‘To Break’ is about being confronted with that farewell.

This song is about life continuing after a death. I wrote this for a Christmas that came after four friends died within one year. I dreaded the holiday, as I did not want to pretend to be cheerful - I was hoping it would be OK to be sad together.

But Kelsey wrote such a beautiful verse that we couldn’t discard the original chorus.

This song is about a good friend of mine who lost his twin brother to suicide early 2021. I dedicated this song to him and his family in hopes it can provide even an ounce of comfort in such an awful time.

This song was written for my mother after my father passed away due to a freak accident and was a meant as a song of hope and encouragement that we need to keep our head up and keep pushing through as this is what our father would of wanted for us.

For some reason, I still keep expecting to get a call from her saying she's been away from her phone for longer than usual...
But it's been over two months after that fateful day, February 9th 2024. Still trying to grasp that my girlfriend passed 24 hours after I saw her last.
Two months later and I'm still expecting her car to pull up by my house, with her sweet smile, always happy to see me

I do think this kind of music has an important place in life. For me, I just need help to cry once in a while. But if you listen to sad songs and relate to them a lot, then you may be depressed, and this music may be helping you into a downward slide. Please turn this off, if that's the case. If you are thinking suicidal thoughts, or very negatively all the time, PLEASE call a hotline, or warmline, or a counselor, or someone. Please do the work needed to get you to a place of hope, and maybe even a sliver of happiness. From there you will be able to build a satisfying life. I'd give you my number, but, you know, internet..... Sending you heartfelt wishes for a better life.

Anyone else afraid they'll never know love? How can you miss someone you've only met in dreams?
When you have exes, but no lost loves, why is this music so relatable?
Cuz we lost the lost exes. and may not able to get the exes back but we still miss them.
While this subject is important to touch on, I hope there aren't many playlist like this....here's hoping these moments don't outnumber the joys found in life...as there is more to experience than...grief & loss...as flying is not all falling, there is also lift.
Hey Arti, I completely understand where you're coming from and I agree. For me, I usually prefer listening to more cheerful and positive songs, but I do know how important these songs about loss can be, to help people cope with their grief. This collection of songs is not meant to keep you stuck in your sorrow, but rather to allow you to feel your emotions, process them, and eventually move towards a more positive and uplifting state when the time is right. I just lost my son in January of 24. Hearing songs like this playlist allows me to slip into that box in my brain and my broken heart and pull out the memories I have of him. It’s not about grief for me when I hear these songs, it’s about release.

My mom is about to die from brain cancer, my dad died last Christmas and my dog passed a couple of months before him. I’m lost and no one understands the immense pain I’m in.
I do understand you. I had the same last year just before Christmas and I am still lost .. Being orphan is hard evan if my dad passed when I was a baby. Be strong. Watch the sky. There is a song bird for you somewhere. I.hope your Mother gens good care and that you are not alone to look after her.
