    I guess that the original owner of the puzzler II sealed the bag themselves before selling it. I dont think that the Box would look the way it does if the puzzle in it wasnt ever opened before. That would explain the missing piece and the not-as-crisp edges as well!

    I did a puzzle with my elderly mother last year. We did it on the dining room table. When we finished, we were missing a piece. It was mind-boggling. I was actually quite disappointed. About a week later, we actually found the missing piece in another part of the house, by the rocking chair my mother sits on throughout the day. We figured it must have clung to her sweater when she was working on the puzzle and it became dislodged after she had settled down in her chair. I was so excited when we found it!

      Our family will often do holiday themed puzzles when we get together for Thanksgiving or Christmas and a missing piece is always a risk. They're usually found in someones slipper or turned up pant cuff. One year we finally found the missing piece standing up leaning against the table leg, the cardboard back matching the wood. How it fell like that is mind-boggling.

      I ended up with a piece missing from a big, complicated puzzle of a mountain when I lived with my old roommate. Several times I'd found the roomie's cat scoping the puzzle out, so when I got to the end and had a piece missing, I KNEW the cat had stolen it. Roomie said she never saw it. Then, mysteriously, when roomie moved out, the piece magically appeared in the living room (like a year after I finished the puzzle). XD I'm guessing she was packing her stuff up, and whoops, there was the piece under her bed or something.

  • @roberttolentino1974

    I run a cutting press for a living. The difference in the cut of the pieces has to due with the condition of the knives in the die. The crisp pieces are from a newer die the knives are still sharp. You will also see more puzzle dust from older dies because the knives are dull. (If it wasn't removed by the manufacturer).

    • @KarenPuzzles
      @KarenPuzzles  3 роки тому +109

    I was browsing through videos and saw this one. I did the Puzzler back in 1976 (I remember because I had just started a new job). I framed it and it hung in my work offices for years, it was a conversation piece since it was mind-boggling. I bought the Puzzler II somewhere around the same time. It is still in the shrink wrap and you can hear the puzzle pieces loose in the box, so I think the one Karen has was used and resealed. The price says $8.00. The first one was so hard, I think that is why Puzzler II is still in the shrink wrap. Karen inspires me to tackle it.

    I really love these strange forms in jigsaw puzzles. It's mind-boggling that these are so old but still so nice. I really like the circular one best mostly due to the colors and the fit. Too bad is not in stores.

    Mind boggling describes this Puzzler very well. I am obsessed with vintage Springbok puzzles and I am determined to find this one. I own the Shades of Childhood one already that you showed in another video. It's nothing but colorful crayons. I have enjoyed that challenge so much and look forward to this challenge even more!

    Since I started watching you I have begun sharing the different puzzles that you do to my daughter. She is really good at doing puzzles I’m not as good as you but really good. She just doesn’t have the time to do big ones but 1000 piece takes her about two hours. If I do 1000 piece it’s gonna take me a week or more. I love watching you and seeing what you’re doing thank you so much for sharing with us

    Wow what a ride! I don’t think i would do either of these puzzles it would hurt my brain to much. The most mind-boggling puzzle I have ever attempted to do was a Buffalo Games puzzle called “Lost in a Jigsaw: The Diagonal Maze Puzzle” where every piece fit together i never finished it and neither did anyone in my family would love to see you attempt that one Karen!

    Glad to see you are doing a Springbok puzzle. I am not sure if I have this one or not -- I know I haven't put it together. You're right, most people would not like this sort of puzzle, but since I operate a lot from just the piece boundaries and color matchings, I enjoy these challenging puzzles. One time when I was about 6 or 7, I did a puzzle with all of the pieces face down. It wasn't that much harder than doing it with pieces facing up.

    I have the Puzzler II. I did it in high school. It was my all time favorite! I still have it! I glued it together, but over the years I lost some edges. I think back then it was called “Son of puzzle”. It was the most satisfying puzzle to do. I always bought Springbok. They were the best at the time.

    A characteristic of round puzzles is that most of the pieces are sort of pie shaped and they tend to get smaller as you move toward center. So in a way, round puzzles are easier than rectangular because you can guess orientation and approximate location. I suspect the second puzzle was sealed by the seller when he received it. Volume sellers often have sealing equipment for puzzles and models. The duller colors also would seem to indicate it was exposed to air for a long time. One giveaway is whether the pieces had dust. If the dust was missing it was resealed.
