"A Very Sad Day" Tributes Pour In After Hairy Biker Dave Myers Dies

- Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers has died at the age of 66, less than two years after revealing his cancer diagnosis.
His death was announced by co-star and fellow motorcycle-riding chef, Si King, who said he was with Myers when he died "peacefully at home" on Wednesday.
His wife, Lillian, his family and close friend David were also "by his side," King said in a statement on X.
"I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime," the statement read.
TalkTV's Kevin O'Sullivan and Alex Phillips are joined by Aldo Zilli, celebrity chef and friend of Myers, who pays an emotional tribute to the TV star.

Total respect to Dave Myers and to Simon king as well as they can only be described as legends and the world will be a sadder place without Dave
A sad loss. The hairy bikers have always been a favourite of mine.

He was quietly one of life’s treasures along with his buddy Simon. Great cooking programmes full of variety and travel bits.

So sad. They were the only 'celebrity' chefs I watched. So down to earth and no pretentiousness about them. Thoughts are with his family and Si.

I agree completely with all that Aldo has said about Dave Myers, such a lovely, warm and friendly guy both him and his Geordie friend Simon King.
Poor Simon must be distraught, as I am sure Dave's wife Lillana must be.
The funny thing was that Dave actually met Lillana in her native Romania when doing the Hairy Bikers Bakation and the legendary biking duo rode down from Norway, through Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania before turning West and travelling through Italy, France and into Spain.
Dave will be sadly missed purely because of their genuine kindness and spirit that both he and Simon were able to bring to the many programmes.
Dave was from the Cumbrian town of Barrow-in-Furness and one of his favourite desserts was Sticky Toffee Pudding.
It's only fitting to have such wonderful input from well known chefs such as Aldo Zilli and James Martin.
I hope that Simon is able to make more TV appearances in the future, now that Dave has gone.
Although that decision may well be for another day.

The Bikers cooked food that ordinary people liked to eat and thought they could actually cook themselves. They seemed genuinely excited about what they did and the people they met. Unlike quite a few other celebrity chefs. He will be missed.

How come some of these cooks die quite young ? Must be the unhealthy way they cook. Ramsey uses 'lashings of butter' on most things. Have you seen the way he cooks a sirloin steak ?! Loads of butter at the end. But he'l only take a small slice to taste...leaves the rest to other people. No wonder he runs marathons....
