    I ordered one last fall. Expected in two months. Didn't order the mobile lever or dial scale. Should I? Agree a little with Kief I can see the fence flex when you joint. But if it stays square to the table should we care about that? Did ask for lift truck delivery. Anything else I should know? Like your Channel

      Hi Farrier SS, in the order presented. The mobile base you could easily make one yourself but I think it was quite inexpensive and really handy, the Digi dial absolutely, I can see it with ease, the scale not so much. Fence flex is a total non issue as like you say it remains square. Check out my follow up video on the planer. In it I cover off all the niggles I have about the machine, especially the tables being Co-planer having a VERY short warranty period. I.M.O if you have the chance to get it commissioned by a Felder engineer then do it. Glad you like the channel thank you. Kind Regards
      G 👍👌

    Good review, Graham, - I enjoyed it. Now I'm trying to work out how to convince my wife (and me) that I need one in my hobby shed.
    But you mentioned the cutters were marked with the number 3 - I thought that was just a mark or reference point so you know when you have rotated a cutter onto a new face, one - that it has been rotated, and two - how many times it has been rotated, so you know when all four faces have been used. Is that correct?

    • @GTWoodshop
      @GTWoodshop  4 роки тому

      Hi Chirs, yes indeed you are correct. What caught me out was the number 3 at the marker point instead of the 1. If you can possibly persuade yourselves I highly recommend it. In fact I was thinking of a small update Vidio. Thanks for watching. G

    Thanks for the review. I'm thinking of getting the exact same machine in a few weeks - your review may have just swung it. A couple of questions 1. How much is it? 2. What sort of vehicle did you need to pick it up (is it on a pallet)?

    • @GTWoodshop
      @GTWoodshop  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Neil, glad it helped. You can get quite good discounts if you haggle a bit, mine was 4k.
      With regards to the vehicle, I have a transit custom which it went in with room to spare.
      Its bolted to a very substantial pallet.
      Getting it out was more of an issue, I used a heavy weight motorbike ramp I've got, and four very large chaps.
      Hope that helps.

      @@GTWoodshop Thanks. That’s useful. I have a LWB Landrover, but I’m not sure it’ll fit through the door. However, I have access to a fork lift where I am, so maybe I need to hire a trailer.

      You'll need the forklift, 350 kilos on the pallet. Enjoy :)👍

    Hi Graham, Thanks for the review. I have just purchased the competitions machine, the Minimax FS30C. Very similar but I have a couple of teething issues. When I feed wood into the thicknesser the ridged roller grabs it and pushes it down at the front. The board then smacks down at the back as it moves a bit forward. Adjustments have failed to get rid of this issue. The vendor is saying that this is normal but I think not. Have you experienced anything like this? This leads to a second issue which is that I can see very slight impressions of the ridged roller on the wood after thicknessing. Again I think this is a fault. Have you seen this effect? Darrill

    • @GTWoodshop
      @GTWoodshop  3 роки тому

      Hi Darrill, That really sounds like the infeed roller is down to low. I have found that if I feed the timber into the thicknesser with the end I'm holding elevated then I get a similar situation to yours. Can you adjust the infeed roller and slacken it off a nidge to see if that helps?

    • @darrill
      @darrill 3 роки тому

      @@GTWoodshop Hi Graham, thanks for coming back to me. I agree your diagnosis and have tried adjusting the 4 hex bolts that control the roller tension. This has lessened the grabbing and snack but good further the bolts and springs will come out. Good for maintenance but not operation. I am using a big heavy chunk of wood to test so pretty sure it is flat going in. I am stumped but don't want the supplier to say this is normal and walk away.

    • @GTWoodshop
      @GTWoodshop  3 роки тому

      @@darrill hi Darill, do you have a lighter / smaller you can test with. So you can guarantee it enters the machine flat / level. I agree the supplier shouldnt walk away. Is there a techy you can discuss with?

    • @darrill
      @darrill 3 роки тому

      @@GTWoodshop No techie hence reaching out to people with experience. I tried a 4x1" initially but not after a bit of adjustment so I will try this again this morning. The bigger piece I use has been planned square so I am pretty sure it hits the rollers flat.

    • @darrill
      @darrill 3 роки тому

      Hi Graham, The techie from my vendor came today but could only look at the evidence and take some phots to share with SCM in Italy. The most concerning thing is the small lines across the workpiece after thicknessing. They will sand out but it turns sanding into a non-trivial task. Thanks for you comments. I will share what I hear. ps. I assume you do not get this lines from the cutter on your workpiece.
