if there’s a buzzing sound from any famicom system with the microphone on the second controller, it may be because the second controller is using an electrolytic capacitor that’s terribly aged and needs to be replaced. i hear that there are some ceramic capacitors that match its rating for voltage and microfarads and can also eliminate any worries over age/wear and polarity

believe me, the c64 scene has become highly conscientious about persevering their commodores by paying more attention to their electrolytic capacitors, mostly because the c64 can’t work with any ceramic capacitors instead

but sadly another weak point in preserving commodore hardware has been in dealing with the chips that tend to get really hot,
the vic-ii, sid, pla, and 6510 cpu, and the kernal, character, and BASIC rom. those are the chips that are most quick to heat up.
some people just use heatsinks and forget about it, but it isn’t that much good without airflow.
for the nes and famicom systems, i would definitely recommend paying attention to how one would preserve the life of the cpu and ppu chips and definitely the electrolytic capacitors and the belts and drive heads in the disk system. otherwise the famicom seems to be far less headache in preserving

      you know what ?
the famicom also has the family basic keyboard.
i think it would be neat if someone were to program a machine language monitor for the famicom.
it would be a very attractive prospect for the hombrew dev scene

This is pretty rad. I've only seen the red Twin Famicom I didn't know they made a second one.

There's 3 versions. Another black unit with red striping exists. This Green stripe version was the last iteration of the unit.

I bought three of those over Ebay many years ago, and they all had their disk drives fail sooner than later.

they might be a king or a little street sweeper, but sooner or later they dance with the reaper

    Great video my dude.
My thoughts are always the same on these kinds of "should you buy x in year"; if you have the interest, time and money then the answer will always be yes. Gaming is about being happy and each console has a story to tell. If that story appeals to you then go for it!

So if I was looking to buy 1 console to play both Famicom and NES games (with an adapter obviously) would this or the AV Famicom be better?

My 15 year old son showed interest in the Famicom a few months ago. We bought one a few months ago. This video helped us to pick a Twin Famicom over a regular Famicom.

The real problem I think is that most if not all "famiclones" as they're called never seem to include a disk drive. All people care about is the NES or Famicom cartridge. If there was a famiclone which included a disk drive, which now is legal due to the patent long expiring, a lot of these problems would be almost non-existent. A humble trollfacing Wario's opinion anyway.

I love mine. I grabbed the RGB Blaster from Stoneage Gamer to use with it.

Were you able to use a RGB Blaster while playing a famicom disk? If not then I imagine there might be a way to remove that lock but I don’t know for sure

@@maxrichards5925 drive side doesn't work so I haven't tried to boot from disc using the blaster. Twin Famicom is Composite also so it wouldn't be the end of the world if you couldn't. I think it would work though if my drive did knowing how the RGB just preempts the signal before it goes to the jack.
