A golden year, SNK managed to release so many entertaining games at launch, (even if they would pale in comparison to the mammoth titles they would eventually be known for like KoF, SamSho, Metal Slug etc) they really carved out a market for themselves. And these really looked really impressive for their time. Especially aspect like the big sprites, vibrant color pallette and sprite scaling.
I need to hear a story from a kid whos dad got them this system in 1990 when all the other kids had a Nintendo. As a 40 years old man.. i can only imagine how amazing it would have been to play games like this at home
I got mine in 1992 I asked my parents to get me nothing for my birthday and no tat for Christmas just get a Neo Geo and two games. The games in the Uk that were over two years old were £77 so I got Burning Fight and Crossed Swords. I felt so special I had arcade perfect games so much better then the Snes but I still played the SNES for games like Zelda and Mario Kart. The graphics vastly improved as time went on they kept adding more rom chips to the carts so another game always felt like it was running on a Neo Geo 2 then a 3. Look at Cyber Lip then Metal Slug.
the Neo Geo is still mind-blowing. Amazing console.
We need a follow-up video soon, J :D Hope you doing good.
Neo Geo was the best of both console and arcade hardware. Arcade specs with the efficiency of a cartride based cabinet.
i enjoyed this overview. Neo Geo had a bit of a slow start (but I like the music of Magician Lord ;)
Great video, J! Hoping to see 1991 and so on from now :D
I like Nam 1975. Its fun in co-op!
Nice vid. Nice change of pace.
