It's so interesting how the French version is sung from Silver's perspective encouraging Jim to make his own destiny, while the original English version is from Jim's perspective, about carving his own path in life.

It really shows how well Silver knows Jim and maybe even sees bits of his younger self in him
You know how at the end when they part ways Jim says that if silver offered to take him along at the beginning he would have said yes but now he realises whats really important?
I think Silver got that too at some point.But he had noone to show him the right path so thats why he tries to do tjat for Jim
