I said 20-30k in the video, but after looking through them it feels more like 30k-40k. I didn't count every card ;)

You’re scaring me Dave
Me too
40k for 120$ is really a steal no matter what
True. I’m honestly jealous. No deals like that where I’m from.
I buy bulk lots all the time and usually it’s about 10 US dollars per 1000 cards. This was definitely a steal.
Somewhere in hell someone is sorting bulk Magic cards.
It's me, doing it for free.
This is the magic equivalent to dumpster diving. One person's trash is another person's treasure they say. Except in this case it's still trash.
im not shure i could call that trash regardless just because that's less then a penny per card if you tried to buy that many from a site or store without setting up a deal you would be shelling out at least a penny a land around 10 cents a common, for the uncommons, rares, between 1-5 dollars on average, and mythics 5+ and thats not even getting into the actual cards
@@Danielhuren except nobody will buy 99% of those cards
There has gotta be some Shukos in those boxes lol
My local game store does this thing where they sell out all their bulk in these mystery boxes. I know it's mostly trash, but sometimes they do put some cool gems in them. My dream is to one day take three or four bulk boxes and try to have a tournament with them with friends. be like "yeah idk what's in here either, let's just slap some stuff together and see how it goes." Looking forward to future videos
A 40 cards deck drafting format with your buddies with this amount of resources would be the main source of entertainment for years.
if you sold all 40k cards for 0.01 CAD you'd make 400 dollars and that's lowballing each card to their lowest possible selling point.
While this is true, it is never that simple. It takes an enormous amount of time to sell this many cards, and that is not including shipping costs if you become an online vendor. It just isn't worth it to sell those cards that are only a few cents, which is why we see so many bulk postings for dirt cheap.
@@Hiilios there are a lot og Game stores that will buy a bulk like this for a cent per card
the cost of selling these cards are just not worth it, you'd be making a loss for every card you sell, even if you sell it for 0.1 each which implies a more than 10x return. Just thinking of cataloging and organizing these cards for sale (online or LGS) will cost a fortune.
So many people buy bulk (unsorted, non-machined) for ~$6 /1000. That's easily worth this buy. Once you get sick of looking through for >$1 cards, or buylistables, then you just dump the rest for more than you paid. Easy
No way. 6-10 per thousand is the going rate.
Just because a card is a common doesn't mean its going to be cheap. There are cards like Rat colony that are worth more than rares. In 40k cards your odds of return are pretty good.
40k has no rarity because every card has the same scarcity. a commen is just as rare a mythic in 40k.
@@protobraid2327 Lol this is maybe the funniest misunderstanding I've seen all day.
Heck, just look at Impact Tremors before it was reprinted in MOC. I was planning on selling my playset from DTK back when they were around 5 USD each, but sadly never got around to listing them before the price dropped 😢 They're still almost a dollar, but it's not the same, haha
@@protobraid2327 Wow, you definitely have good reading comprehension
11:03 WHAT
Just tweakin the nips
@@8thPlaceDave casual nip tweaker
That’s wild Dave 💀
My playgroup calls the card Teferi's Titty Twister
Lots of pauper staples
Man, i love looking thru mystery cards too! Seems like you did alright. Seeing a dark ritual is always exciting.
except this isn't actual mystery cards. you can be pretty darn certain that you ain't getting shit when buying such a massive card bulk. the seller will have made sure to sort out all the valuable cards. a true mystery box would at least give you a chance of someone being nice to you and include cards of value but not in this case. sorry to piss on the parade here.
@@happysquirtle466 You pissed on the parade and you're blatantly wrong too, if you watched the video he found a bunch of stuff of value
I'd love to go through this mess! I love going thorugh "bulk" and finding gold. I played in 99-2004 or so, and got back into it a couple times buying some stuff around Innestrad, then picked up again just before covid for Zendikar. I collected all the old foils I could get my hands on in the 2000's and kept everything protected in binders or sleeves. Glad I never parted with anything, like my friend who got and sold several power 9 over the years. I could use a lot of stuff from this time range probably.
I still sell a ton of those Command Towers. It's great to find value in a bulk purchase! Thanks for sharing.
used to do similar buys on ebay, gotta say just going through random cards is hella fun if you are an mtg enthusiast😄
15:37 you passed right by Pick your Poison from MKM, worth over $2 because of utility in modern. Oh also, I’m quite jealous, cause this collection looks like a super cool find. I’m excited to see more of these as you get thru some of those boxes lol
Near Mint Hashep Oasis. Besides that it was used to build a Hashep Oasis crafts house.
i wish i was friends with someone like you, i do like going through mass random cards and organizing them. My collection is slowly being organized in such a way that i'm filtering out the "chaff useless" cards and i keep moving the "good cards" into their own box's. And i've even decided to make it easier on myself having a box dedicated to cards that are part of combos.
Super interesting vid. I’d love to see you make an EDH deck with the better cards you find from this collection.
There is nothing more relaxing than just going through 5k+ cards despite the hand pain the day after.
I hope you pull something that's good for your desert EDH deck.
If i were looking through that boxes i would separate so much more cards, not for the value but playability love this videos
I bought some random bullk cards from ebay. My friend and I will play games with them, and honestly, it's the best way to play MTG. We each will have 1 hour to build our decks without lands, then you can't add or remove any cards after that hour, then add your lands and go at it. Both of us are choosing cards from the same boxes, so it's an even playing field. I prefer playing MTG this way, because it's not about who has the best cards, or who looked up the best strategies. Definitely worth it.
You can't go wrong with bulk pricing! Pick Your Poison looked to be missed, it's a couple bucks. Happy Hunting!
gl in ur wild journey dave
Get a scale. Weigh 1000 cards. Weigh a box. Then weigh ALL the cards inside the box, and subtract the weight of the box. Boom you know roughly how many cards you have
Or what if I get a scale and then weigh a card to see how much it weighs, then do that for every card and add up the total weight, then divide it by the number of cards I weighed and I'll know how many cards I have!
Disappointed they weren’t all Hashep Oasis
Me too :(
Woah that is insane. I got into Magic around 2 months ago through Jumpstart and was looking at buying a bulk lot like this just to sort through and learn more cards but best prices I found were like 4k cards for $60 when I last looked. Getting 40k cards for $120 is amazing!
Buy singles! I got into magic again after many years and the infistructure set up for getting exactly what you need is awesome. Unless playing the other game is to your taste of course! 😂
I'd be sorting by color as I went through every box to help with going through stuff in the future. Wouldn't be able to help myself
good deal dude..... my god going thru them is nuts....................................
Looks fun to just sort, look over magic history.
As someone who only buys singles and effectively started playing proper 2ish years ago I can say I probably spent more to buy cards you just found in there. What a steal
My friends and I used to do this a lot and then play lots of Pauper Draft over the weekend. Good times
Near 12:40 trailblazers boots and prowlers helm are a buck or two each. Not bad hits.
Good catch!
I love going through bulk!
If you lived near me bud I'd sleeve and organize all of them. My OCD brain is salivating. lol Great buy Dave.
This is that thing that makes investing in a card sorter sound viable.
I got a box of.
Random stuff like that.
With about five thousand cards I'll be going through soon
Keep up the good work man I love your videos
Thanks :)
I would love to see how many playable(as in not terrible) commander decks you could make from that pile
pringling just happens due to differences in humidity, so conspiracy 2 was probably printed somewhere with a different humidity than it normally prints at.
Lol, how did you know i was watching this video in the background while working
Hii awesome this is huge work gg
That many cards for that little investment is such a good deal, holy
Imagine all the draft cubes you can make out of that!
Once you're done separating the gems from the bulk, I expect you'll have enough cards left to build a fine cardboard castle for Snug. Though I expect you'll save that revelation for the final episode of the series, along with all the Hashep Oasis you sneakily set aside😉
Snug told me to hold on to any of the bear cards for him. I think he might be trying to corner the market on them.
Most definitely worth it, if you're planning on making a bunch of decks
Definitely passed a lot of pauper staples like makeshift munitions, gurmag angler, sacred cat
So when are you opening your own shop now that you have some inventory?
This is awesome
U for sure got a deal
40,000 cards that is cheper a commander precon price these days.
I just recently return to MTG after almost 20 years hiatus because of commander format is so fun with buddies. I need this kind of deal right now.
Wild Mo has to be one of the Magic the Gathering cards of all time
At one time, Opt was an easy pick. Times have changed. I still pick them in case theyre ever on the buylist again
i just bought 1000 off someone for 40 bucks. so i feel you Dave
Awesome!!
This is fairly insane considering you could turn around with this collection and sell every card for 1 cent and make double the profit easily lol
Uhhhh are you going to get into pauper? My brain got so hyped every time I saw a pauper card. I personally would be starting a pauper library if I did that.
Yeah, That's like 400-500$ in bulk. Good deal.
Alternate Art Simian Spirit Guide.
How much are those automatic sorters? Can one be rented for a week?
Looks like a great buy if you eat alot of cardboard.
Time to make a cube. Or 10 cubes.
I saw a pick your poison you skipped which is worth a little bit for a common
As a pauper player I am salivating rn
Skipped a Pick your poison at 15:38. In my local store people are desperate for that card
Dang, well I guess I'll get it eventually, when I end up looking through these again haha
@@8thPlaceDave oh no, not again haha
now you just have make 400 commander decks out of em.
I'm really happy to know I'm not the only one who dumpster dives for magic cards 😅😂❤
I mean... sell each at even half a penny and you still make $80 profit...🤷♂ Tip for going through so much bulk, flip the cards upside down - that way you can quickly sort rarity as the symbol will be on the left side then.
pick your Poison of MKM bulk over there? in EU its like 0,75-1€
trailblazers boots is about 150 at 12:37
I want to sort that so bad.
where do you sell at a buylist price?
I'm extremely disappointed that they aren't all Ramunap Ruins or Seance.
I think 120$ for 40k cards might be less than the value of the paper - What I'm saying it this would probably be a good Deal even if they were all Basic Lands
More parts please
Parts 2 and 3 are on my channel ;)
@@8thPlaceDave Yeah sorry I found those I meant to say more videos like this
the problem with buying massive collections is it is going to be 99% bulk be it the massive pile of under 1 cent commons or the fact that 90% of rares are under 20 cents... 40000 cards sounds like alot until you realize its only like 2000 rares 99% of which you would never be able to sell as a single
this is a steal for pauper players lmao
Skipped past an Arc Mage from Nemesis at 18:11, although I dunno if it's worth anything :)
Did I not see you skip some Farseek?
Why are you separating Diabolic Tutor?
Too easy Dave, too easy 😂😂😂😂😂 congrats!!!!
DAN!!!!!!!!
Sisyphean task there sir
Sure feels like it
Selling them in bulk at .25 a piece = $ 10k Worth it by default.
Nobody would buy them :p
This is the real MTG finance....spend a Benjamin get back 3x to 4x from buylist.
thats just how people get rid of their bulk, bro.
This box minus the time of work , not worth it at all.
BUT you enjoy it, so you can at least claim its not "work".
It's true, if it was just for profit it would be a lot less worthwhile.
to anyone wondering before watching...yes it is very much worth it to buy 40k for 120, in any scenario, its always worth it. Even if its 40k of the same card its worth it
40,000 Magic cards for $120 really shows how much their value has dropped, except for the brand-new booster packs, which are still overpriced.
hows your left thumb feeling?
Strong ;)
I heard local LDS
Most of the cards worth absolutely nothing anyway😂
The big problem for me is how to store if safely to not have mold or something like that
This amount of cards require some good storage
it's not worth anything but at 6:00 there's a sedraxis specter, which is a rare
That one is an uncommon in Modern Masters 2017 ;)
@@8thPlaceDave ah my bad. I just knew i had the original in my rare folder.
Where do you get deals like this?
Usually facebook marketplace
@@8thPlaceDave mannnnnn living in the us is awesome
Was the Russian card cut? Or is that a meld card?
It was a meld card :p
How long did one box take? 💀
Too long
Kinda unbelievable to me as a noob try to build there first deck lol (iv got precons and boosters)
Unguished Unmaking is A Gem in a trash
He did WHAT?
Lot of pauper playables
Why did he get rid of all his cards? That’s a lot of money spent. I just recently got in to MTG and am collecting LTR and OTJ 😂
This wasn't all of them, just the bulk commons and uncommons. He still has his actual collection and many decks :p
Thank you for the nipple twist comment
So, skipped over several cards worth more than a 1$ that's unfortunate lol hopefully you didn't get rid of the ones you passed on
