I'd like to know how many of these people are actually from Oregon, and how many came here for all the free stuff they thought they were going to get.
A lot. Republican states human traffic their homeless.
Didn’t Oregon decriminalize hard drugs and defund police departments? Pretty much paves the way for meth.
Bingo!
Yup. They just recriminalized drug possession a few months ago, but it's still only a misdemeanor.
Yes but some far left whiney little amtifa punk will cry they didn't defund police and its normal because they are cowards
@@ShepardOfWar Misdemeanor if combined with another charge. Drugs alone are punishable by a rehab program we all pay for.

No raise in min wage for 30 years, studio apartments for 1200 , credit checks to rent, 3 times your income rule, not surprising people are homless.
yea, pretty much nailed it
There are still definitely problems but the minimum wage bit is fake news. Research it for yourself.

How many came from elsewhere because of the benefits and policies here? No secret, Oregon enables.
I love Portland, grew up there late 70s through 95. Lived in Georgia for 6 years. There is a difference. Portland is not really trying to do anything differently. I drove through Portland with a visitor from the UK. I made the mistake of driving over the Morrison Bridge into downtown. We immediately left, no stopping. I was shocked how bad it was still. They talk a lot and never do anything. I once considered Portland truly one of the best cities in the world. I no longer think it will change in my lifetime. The people there are use to it.
The wages suck! There are people who work full time and are homeless. The voucher program changed, its formula. I couldn't afford my car payment and almost paid off. The housing authority is like slum landlord they raised my rent $200 in the middle of my damn lease! How about the greedy companies pay a livable damn wage!
And yet Portland, & Oregon overall, pay among the highest Wages in the country, far & away much better than the Federal Minimum Wage! I'd say it has far more to do with the costs of Housing & what not, AND that, we can blame on the big Realtors, deliberately buying up all the Housing Properties so they can price gauge PPL to death, literally. The Harris Campaign ran on working to end this practice & help with Housing Costs overall, but well, alot of PPL decided to vote for that other person, who is solely 4 the rich!!
@@marmac7619 that's not true Washington st wages are higher but the cost of living is higher top sp fixes nothing
The problem is drugs and no law enforcement. If you work 40 hours you can feed and shelter yourself, no excuses
What's crazy in the United States is that you can have a full-time job, be homeless, and the U.S. government will not consider you to be living in poverty because you make too much, yet you can't afford to rent, let alone buy a house.
You hit the nail on the head,🔨! You know maybe people are wising up and keeping their money to themselves instead of working for everyone else!
Yeah and in NYC, they provide affordable housing to rich people.
Americans voted for that, and war. One philosophy connects the dots and forever the population refuses to review.
@@tj-597yes, they vote against socialism so others won't get homes. That's very American.
Housing prices will collapse eventually when banks and landlords start making lot less money from less customers .
And when they do, big corporations will buy them up and leave them empty.

Rents got to high, dollar devaluation is a horrible tax on its citizens,
So the millions have been well spent? Seems to be helping.
A more comprehensive report could be helpful. Our governments and 'investigative' reporters appear unhelpful in solving any social problems. Less veterans, so more families and senior citizens? How many of the 1,315 homeless kids are homeless with and without family? How many are over 55? How many are disabled? What does government social services have to say?
Thank you for covering homeless issues👍🏼
Cap the rent!!!!!❤
Because it's a welfare state, and you can't afford anything but homeless , food and a tent.
Which color is your tent?
A welfare state where people are homeless and broke? That's a bit of a contradiction
@@SocietalRants
Welfare keeps people homeless and broke. It’s an incentive.
In Oregon it's actually gone up 172% since 2007.
This country is absolutely ridiculous
so is this video
The term "late-stage capitalism" got its name from the idea that the current phase of capitalism is the final, often most exploitative and unsustainable, stage before a significant change or collapse.
"late stage capitalism" 😂😂😂 of course it has nothing to do with a rogue Congress in DC borrowing $34 trillion dollars in just 28 years... Printing money just devalues the currency, thus inflation takes control as the unseen taxation that's forced upon the citizens...
I'm an actual homeless person. There is enough vacant rooms in hotels in vacant houses to house 30 times the homeless population. The churches have enough space to house 100 times the homeless population. You are correct though there is an abundance that is withheld for profit.
😂😂😂😂😂

Until they mandate universal housing is $ drip from the tax faucet.
Lol , get a job
What will that look like exactly? That sounds scary
Every city and state should do a monthly audit covering tax dollars. It should include a breakdown covering usage and the distribution of funds. This should be recorded publicly and made available to all citizens. Also, any organization, agencies, or groups utilizing the funds should also be included in the monthly audits.
Sending people home to their own countries only causes disruption for the city Destroyers. Serving only citizens makes the problem much easier for those who are really trying to help. Enki vs. Enlil 2.0 war on the horizon
The number of women homeless doubled and Kamala never talked about it.
Portland oregon has fallen
Exploitation Of Corruption.
I’m not sure if it’s monetary or lack of faith in our government causing people to forego housing and live without the threat of monetary Damocles hanging overhead.
Oregon voters are getting what they have asked for. Keep voting Democrat and keep getting the same results. Continued giving away billions to subsidize and incentivize irresponsible behavior and enabling it will actually exacerbate the problem.
Damn wtf this country is going down hill
In the event of widespread civil unrest or a major disaster, it's crucial to prioritize safety and security. Staying indoors may be the most prudent course of action, especially if looting and squatting become prevalent. Consider alternative means of obtaining essential supplies, such as online ordering or community support networks.
New Oregon Laws should be Permanently Ban on Weapons & Permanently Ban on All Railroad Crossings 100% to be Grade Separated Overpass or Underpass Only.
Sure it's double the number of homeless ithe Gov. reports n every state!!
As long as we continue to allow cities like Lake Oswego to make new home construction unaffordable we are all screwed. The beurocrats don't want affordable homes they want bigger permit expenses on all houses.
According to one Poster: "The wages suck!" HELLO! Portland, & Oregon overall, pay among the highest Wages in the country, far & away much better than the Federal Minimum Wage! Maybe China or Cuba can teach the United States how to provide shelter and healthcare for its people since those countries don't have homeless people or people without healthcare.
I hate to agree with the Head of the Blanchet House, but given that even Losing Federal SNAP - will only be the start of the cuts from elonald & their rich Mill/Bills! Consider. Homeless are 2%+ of the entire Multnomah County population. Over 14k which is the majority of Oregon. Nearly the same amount as those that have CHLs. There is a direct correlation.
