    Ah, a Muppet glory version of Shakespeare - pure genius! Yes, that speech from Henry V is so moving - astounding! Kenneth Branagh's performance of that part in his film version of the play is unforgettable, I just get swept along with all that patriotic fervour. I love it! Very engaging video - thank you.

    ShakeTember! Awesome. That's too cool seeing all that. Sadly I have no Shakespeare books. Thank you for sharing this with us. -James

    I enjoyed the jaunt around London! So much fun! This is an awesome tag, but I'm going to need a little time to do it justice. I will need to think about this one for a bit. Thanks for tagging me!

    Yay for reading "No bed for Bacon"! Don't miss reading the introduction and realising the background of the times to its writing, adds to your appreciation. It was written as WW2 was still raging at a time of great uncertainty. And many years before Tom Stoppard's "Shakespeare in Love" which is very similar. Brilliant video vlog, making the most of access to London - bravo!

      Thanks Heather. I’ve read the intro - I’m always interested by writing partnerships and detect a little bit of love/hate in this one!

      @@GenreBooks23 I was startled to be asked when already busier than usual with booktube - but decided to make it a fun, short one take wonder and that worked well. Very much enjoyed seeing your footage of London, thank you for taking the time to do this for us.

    This was fantastic! Thank you so much for doing this tag. I really enjoy the histories (I’ve only read 5), but they are the plays most people are intimidated by. I was laughing at your casting of a Muppets’ Hamlet! 😂 So glad you are participating! 💛🎭

    Thank you for taking us along, Gavin :) Interesting about the candlelit performances. 🕯️Sadness that there’s no plaque. I’ve not read anything Shakespeare- except for whatever was required in high school. That’s pretty lame, I know. Still, I am looking forward watching. Enjoyed this!

      Just imagine that you have all of Shakespeare to look forward to! It's a little pity about the lack of plaque, but Shakespeare has more than enough memorials I suppose. It's John Fletcher I feel sorry for!

    Thank you for taking us into town. That one space looked pretty narrow. Thank you for tagging us. I think we have two other tags to catch up on and one in the editing "room." I'll need to write some of my answers/experiences, so I don't leave anything out. =) Again, thank you for the jaunt 'bout town. 🤗

    I was going to go to the globe last year (I've never been) but never got time in the end. Muppets Hamlet would be amazing. Glad to see this tag making the rounds again.

    I would love to see a Muppets Hamlet! That’s absolutely brilliant! 😂😂😂. Love that piece from Henry V. A good book on King John I read a while ago is 1215; The Year of the Magna Carta (think that’s the title.) I am just reading Richard III now for the first time.

    • @GenreBooks23
      @GenreBooks23  2 місяці тому

      I'll have a hunt for that book. i read "King John" today, and there's not even a mention of the Magna Carta! I'm not sure it was important to Elizabethans (or more likely not a great subject to bring up around a very powerful monarch...)

    Great responses. I share your fondness for Richard III. But I should mention that King John didn't die from bingeing on eels. That was Henry I. John died from dysentery.
    Ever since I learned that several of my French ancestors died at Agincourt, I've been a little ambivalent about Henry V...

    • @GenreBooks23
      @GenreBooks23  2 місяці тому

      Thanks. I was reading up on John the day after and realized I had gotten him confused with Henry. Still, a “surfeit of lampreys”, or dysentery, either still preferable to poor old Edward II…
