Wild Mouse Review Cedar Point New for 2023 Spinning Family Coaster

- Опубліковано 11 чер 2023
- Cedar Point just opened up a brand new family coaster, one that pays homage to a previous attraction, while bringing it into the modern day! Wild Mouse is part of the all new Boardwalk section of the park, and reimagines what a Wild Mouse should be! Zamperla created an all new model with this one, making this one different from every other ride out there! But does that make it the best of its kind?

I don't know any mouse puns for the first six cars, but the seventh one looks pretty cheesy.
😂
Was going to add another mouse pun, but … ne-vermin-d. 😮
That’s a good one man
+1
This coaster is more forceful than I thought it would and is pretty thrilling
Our grandkids love it and so do we. We enjoy the entire area with our families. So well done and the Lake view is just spectacular along with the facilities.
Cedar Point definitely needed a new family coaster. You dont have to swing for the fence each coaster.
This is why diversifying the park rather than adding another record breaker was an appropriate celebration for its 150th anniversary. Diversifying from a ballroom into an amusement park was a key reason behind it after all
I'm not in the camp that Cedar Point can do no wrong. I have a handful of criticisms of the park, though it is amazing. But I think complaints about a wild mouse at Cedar Point are stupid. Not only is this one well done but it's a fantastic fit for the park anyway. Families do go to this park. Kids and families need more to do and this really helps the lineup. Little kids will love riding this with their parents which means a happier guest experience for everyone and more little kids developing a love for the park that will bloom in their teen years. Good for Cedar Point!
I have one complaint about this ride. The lap bar pressed against my chest so hard that I could barely breathe the whole ride. I won't go on it again because of that issue.
Cedar Point Is The Only Park That Can Make A Coaster Themed To Cheese
And, paradoxically, take out the very popular Mac Shack restaurant last fall.
@@jandrew1994 lol it was not popular.
I now crown you...
Wildest Mouse
This reminds me of the Gerstlauer spinner Fairly Odd Coaster at Nick Universe at Mall of America. I remember marathoning it when it first opened because the backwards facing seat was such an intense experience, and it spun like crazy.
Went on it 4 times my last visit and had a different experience each time. I actually really enjoyed it, I was pleasantly surprised. And if you happen to get a super spinny run it's extra fun. Has a lot of charm.
Did it make u dizzy?
@@leenastoneburner3422 Not at all but I don't usually get dizzy on rides. That said, my partner is very sensitive to that and he was also fine.
I’d also classify Gemini as a family coaster
I'd sooner call Blue Streak (which Coaster Studios doesn't mention) a family coaster than Gemini. While Gemini's racing mechanic is certainly family-friendly, its relative size (125 feet tall) could put off kids with a fear of heights. Blue Streak isn't as tall.
@@100DollarHeadache that is fair, but blue streak’s air time was super intense it had me fearing for my life lol
I don't think you can call Gemini a family coaster it goes 60 mph. Anything over 45-50 is just automatically in the thrill category. I think Blue Streak was the missing family coaster in Coaster Studio's review. I think they need another disaster transport kind of ride... it was the other family/thrill ride back in the day. I was really hoping Cedar Point would have gotten something similar to Laff Trakk at Hersheypark but I guess we can conclude that is now out of the question with this wild mouse. It's a good fit to the park nonetheless.
@@kbaker9753 Gemini is force less, if blue streak (which is chalk full of air time and other forces) is a family coaster then so is gemini
Its definitely the best wild mouse coaster I have been on
Very entertaining and fun to watch. Thanks for posting this.
We spun so fast from the time we crested the lift hill. Kept spinning for a least a minute after we were back in the break section. It was definitely a Wild Ride!
I got to ride this and loved it! It really is insane
This reminds me of the defunct Wildcat coaster, which was my very first ride at Cedar Point back in 2011.
When I was getting over my fear of roller coasters I did it at Cedar Point in 8th grade, in the past I my range of roller coasters was that really kiddie coaster at Jenkinson boardwalk to the Racer/Jack Rabbit at Kennywood(no joke, straight up the only coasters I had gotten myself on, some i was forced on) and when I went to CP I only went on cedar creek, iron dragon and gemini, which was specifically plentiful in a low thrill range. When I expressed how helpful of a stepping stone iron dragon was for me to people who were quick to call it boring but the what made Cedar Point, especially from now an adult's perspective, a great theme park and buisness is the thought of needing low energy roller coasters, nonetheless a range of them. Even Gemini, as you've said in the past, is great for transitioning into bigger coasters. I really appreciate how you touch on this aspects, cause now I have ridden phantom and steel curtain easily, something 10 year old me would be beyond proud of.
i rode wild mouse today and we got the zaggy themed car and was spinning SO much
The wild mouse at lagoon was really well themed, at least in the 90s when I live there
This looks like a maurer spinner twister styled layout with Zamperla's modern cars. Also: Zamperla did to the spinning wild mouse model the same thing as Gerstlauer did to the normal wild mouse with thier bobsled's. Love it!
I rode a lot of spinning wild mouse coasters, but this one is finally something unique. Before the most special one was Heidi because one curved hill that got added and the lifthill speed got increased woohoo.
A lot of old coaster models could become something new and awesome with modern technology and manufacturing techniques.
I think Cedar Point put their best foot forward for a spinning wild mouse and made it as good as it could be with the looks and light theming. At the end of the day though, it's just a standard wild mouse. I get it, but I also think they could have done something a little more unique like the rest of the park that hits all the same people and gaps. But glad to see them make the effort here, still a win for the park.
like the rest of the park? so pretty standard dive coaster, outdated giga coaster, fairly average wing coaster, Ok flourless coaster.... get Over it. the park has plenty of average rides.
@@radbricks8298 hardly! There’s hundreds of these wild mouse coasters, and dozens (if that) of those you just named. I’m just saying it would’ve been more like Cedar Point to build a more custom or unique family coaster for their park to fit this theme rather than a ride you can find a near clone of at any traveling fair or existing park. What they did with it is cool and puts it above the rest, but still nothing to write home about.
@@radbricks8298the rides you mentioned are only average because they‘re at cedar point. In most parks these would still be headliners. Also Gate Keeper ist amazing imo.
Just went 728/2024 and loved it
Yes I have, definitely a fun ride definitely want more rides but I’m unsure because of all the maintenance issues
We LOVED this ride. It was totally worth the wait in line. It was something different than the other rides and we could ride it as a family. Everything from the sound effects to the character cars…this ride packed quite a punch for its small size. We could easily ride this over n over. I hope they never get rid of this one.
I've ridden it twice on the same day. I enjoyed it and I like high thrill coasters. The first time I rode with two guys and a lady and we were spinning out of control The second time it was a small child his mom and a single rider I decided to spend the day with. Less spinning but still fun I will definitely write it again I agree to park needed this It's a good coaster to break up the kids coasters and iron dragon.
I rode Wild Mouse and it was definitely wild and unpredictable.
I was expecting it to be pretty good for a wild mouse. Wound up thinking it was pretty good, period. I was really surprised how much I enjoyed this ride. We had so much fun on this thing.
I thought it was super fun! I went on the 7th and my friend thought we should've done it again, but the line was too long hence it being new.
Did you forget to mention that this ride was paying tribute to the Schiff Wild Mouse coaster at Cedar Point from 1959 to 1963?
For spinning coasters of this size, it won't beat the Revershan version, such as Exterminator at Kennywood or Crazy Mouse at Del Grosso's. The fact that the trains on those things allow you to slide accross the seat really elevates those over snything from Zamperla or Mauer.
This reminds me a lot of Pandemonium at Six flags New England.
I rode it w my gf and her family on July 13th , 2023. While I can't say it's my favorite coaster, I do agree CP does need a coaster like this. I think my favorite thing about this ride is the sound effects, especially w the cat on top of the lift hill as well as the slam and spinning sound effects. Definitely not your typical wild mouse and worth riding again
The line unfortunately did not move fast when I was there. Maintenance issues, cars kept stopping in the loading zone, and they weren’t running all the cars. We weren’t able to get on it in two days, the line was never under an hour (on weekdays!) and nobody in my group wanted to wait that long for a family coaster.
you have to build family coasters if you want to grow the next crop of coaster enthusiasts
"Make it stand out from any other Wild Mouse out there"
*Gerstlauer Bobsleds entered the chat*
I’ve ridden Undertow at Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, which is a spinning coaster.
I rode it when we went for the first time about 2 weeks ago. I surprised on how enjoyable it was. Unfortunately (due to it being new) it held a 45 minutes weight basically the whole time which the ride is not worth. I rode it to say I did but I definitely would do it again if I came back. Missed out on early access Millie for that though so y’know 😅
Excellent choice
It kind of reminds me of primeval whirl a bit quite honestly!
When will someone make a extreme wild mouse
I loved it!! There were some really forceful moments
Best wild mouse
Gotta marathon it on one of those dead days.
A good fit for the park, they needed a spinner.
A classic wooden Wild Mouse is still in a different league IMO
I feel like they could of squeezed in another helix in the final part of the ride to not make it feel soo short.
Looks fun. I'm 60, but still would ride all the rides if I get back up to CP. I'm only 90 miles away. I do think having family coasters is fun, too. Not every ride has to be extreme "dare devil" and rides for fun & laughs are cool, too.
What do you think is gonna be taking over volcano at kings dominion for 2024?
Wait did they announce anything.
Probably nothing. Knowing the management at KD, They will add something in 2028. And if they do, It will be another kids section.
@@joeyharper4976 they already have a large kid section so there’s no reason to add another one…and something IS coming to the area where Volcano used to be and will most certainly arrive around KD’s 50th anniversary. There have been recent reports of land surveying and soil sampling as well.
@@KartsCoastersChris They extended planet snoopy like 3 separate times... So why act like they never did this..
What are the restraints like? I like spinning in theory but I've only been on a Gerstlauer spinner and the tightness of the restraint on me combined with the spinning makes me puke when I walk out of the station.
the cheese cart is the best! it spins waayy faster then the mouse carts!
Hell to the no on this one for me! Went to CP other day with the fam, saw this and almost got dizzy/nauseous just looking at it. I once went on a similar carnival ride- obviously smaller and for kiddies, but my car got stuck spinning very fast (luckily not with my child in it with me) and I thought I was going to die as the operator slowly got the people off one by one ahead of me. It was years back, before I turned 40. I weigh about 140 or so, prob less back then, but the uncontrollable spinning rides are too much for some of us. My kids might enjoy it, if they'd give it a chance. My 11 year old went on all of the coasters except for this and Iron Dragon.
it's a good replacement for wild cat, a ride I really miss
Very fun, but very vomit inducing! I’m prone to motion sickness and I’m usually fine on the bigger coasters, but this one got me bad. I was in a group by of 4 so our car was very heavy, we were absolutely FLYING and spun like crazy. At the end I wanted the ride operators to hurry up so I told them I was gonna hurl (they did not go faster lol) I stumbled my way out and thankfully made it to the trashcan. Good ride tho!
I was frustrated that they didn't have a Fast Lane entrance for this one. Memorial Day was slammed and the line was over an hour all day. Being my first time at the park in 18 years, I needed to get all the major thrill credits I missed out on at age 12 when I got rained out.
it’s because the capacity is already bad it would be terrible with fast lane
They had fast lane through the exit on memorial day
@@coastingalong this is false. The exit is for alternate access
@@Pidge287 they said fast lane………. there is no fast lane for this ride
@@andyblarblar279 only for 1 day
I think Six Flags should add one of these next. That park could really use a new family roller coaster, and a spinning wild mouse roller coaster would be a perfect fit for that. I think the perfect location would be in the Gotham City section as that area doesn't have much for families, and they should theme it to the Joker, just like the spinning roller coaster at Six Flags Mexico. Unless they plan to relocate their Larson Super Loop somewhere else within the land later on, another reason why they should do that is because I am not a fan of how Gotham City doesn't have a Joker themed ride now.
yeah its short but the pacing is actually kinda crazy on this thing
It looks like it goes faster than most other coasters 😅
Was it also more SBNO then operating on your visit? I Heard some very concerning stories
Is this the best Zamperla coaster?
I think that would be a thunderbolt design layout (never ridden it) but it’s more intense than this family ride
@@mrgrass1232 I've not ridden it either but word is it's very rough and unpleasant. I'll take a good family ride over a bad intense ride any day.
@@gemmachaos oh
we had same 4 people ride all the different cars and we found that the cheese car spins more than the rest.
I've ridden it twice. Both load side seat. It feels like you're going backwards & sideways at an angle thru curves more than spinning imho
First ride was in Cheese car (!) A dad next to me and two teen girls on the outside. It spins fast when it stops on the brake run. I got dizzy. I liked it. It is said to intentionally spin more.
Second ride was on the pink car. Load side seat. With 3 big early 20's males. The ride op pressed the lap bar too tight. Very unpleasant ride. Otherwise the sensation was the same. It didn't spin nearly as much or as fast in the brakes as Cheese car though.
Both rides the straight into the brake run is harsh. A very short duration. I don't care for the slow-moving cars thru the unload. But I liked it. It was different enough. Not as much of 'Monster meets Wild Cat' as I thought it might be.
The lift hill music is annoying. The sound effect is fun. The Farmer Otis actor from the old Forbidden Frontier told me he recorded he station voice of the red car. You really can't hear the voice overs. Partially de to the music (The Steel Vengeance character actors did the station voices for SV).
My friend had a stroke a few years ago. His left side gives him trouble. He couldn't get into ADA cheese car. I've seen little girls maybe 6 yrs old complain they hit their head on the back of the seat. A Mom said her 6'5" husband dislocated a rib on Cheese car. She thought it was funny lol
Hey guys. Leaving for Europe. Going to hit Europa Park. Any need to know things?
Wouldnt it be comic justice if a twister came and wrecked wild mouse and the pavilion
Why didn’t Knotts get the spinner
If you guys ever find yourself on Long Island, there’s a tiny park ( Adventureland) with a really awesome little Mac spinner (Turbulence)you’d love it!
Here’s a video of it …
ua-cam.com/video/nXtFnVFT42M/v-deo.html
How come Wild Mouse gets a review before ANY of the Australian parks/ rides
Are you guys ever planning on visiting Canada’s Wonderland again? SARAH NEEDS ANOTHER GIGA
One day! Not sure when though
May not be as good as Wicked Twister was but it's a better fit.
This is not a family coaster. I was close to having more laterals on this than the Beast at Kings Island! Not to mention it’s fast-paced, and has an overbank and airtime!
My six year old loved it, so did the wife and I
Kids have 2 kid coasters. Then blue streak. Then iron dragon. Then cedar creek. Then Gemini. It’s really awkward to put that in. They didn’t have one. But they could use d broke some record. Fastest or tallest wild mouse isn’t that big.
Cheddar Point confirmed
I definitely disagree on your "you spin a lot statement" so far Ive ridden mouse prolly like 25 times and I can say I have only had 3 rides that actually spun a lot. Only the cheese car really spins, the rest youre lucky for two spins the entire ride.
Tbh, I feel like this was a good replacement for wicked twister
In terms of family coasters, cedar point has Gemini.
I think it's really nice but I have to say that I don't think it is special enough (I life in Europe where costum spinning coaster are more common, Maurer)
I was told it breaks down a lot (from other reviews)
yes, it seems Zamperla still has some bugs to work out (which is common for prototypes)
@@CoasterStudios I agree (I was just curious)
I heard it breaks down a lot which is not good…
DC rivals review?
nah
Wild Mouse review.
DC Rivals review coming soon!
You forgot Blue Streak as one of the kiddie / family coasters... if you're going to mention Iron Dragon, then Blue Streak definitely fits that bill. Iron Dragon and Mine Ride are better than Blue Streak and Wild Mouse.
Blue Streak is definitely more intense than those two
But Gemini is better than all of those (havent ridden wild mouse yet tho)
Cobras curse is better
It's a fine fit for the park, but it's disappointing to see the coaster capital of the world slowly move towards becoming a family park.
Exterminator from Kennywood is definitely better than Cedar Point Wild Mouse
When I found out that this was replacing Wicked Twister, I was furious because Cedar Point, Roller Coaster Capital, having a wildmouse is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. But after thinking about it, yeah honestly its a pretty good idea. I wish they wouldn't have gotten rid of twister and ima miss that skyline, but i get that it was old and they honestly needed a family ride. I hope they do find something to replace wicked tho. If they got an S&S launch coaster I would lose it. But Cedar, keep doing what you are doing.
cedar point fans are weird. they always say "it doesn't fit cedar points theme of unique thrill" they have said that for the last like 6 coasters. other then maverick and steel vengeance... cedar point fans have way to big of expectations .
This coaster mid af
Like bro we still don’t have a dark ride at cedar point why did we need a generic ass mad mouse that’s worse than sketchy ones at county fairs💀
"It's not everyday that cedar point adds a new rollercoaster"... Lie again.
I mean they havent added one in 5 years
@@loabenbozz7430 5 years is nothing. And Cedar point has added multiple roller coasters back to back years if there is a few years break. Cedar point is one of the most consistent parks in the U.S. with adding roller coasters/attractions.
