Slight correction to 2 parts. 1. Their sizes varry greatly between legion heritage. They did it one during 30K, but that was back when they had a better understanding of the process and of genetics in general than in 40K. I doubt they could do it in the current timeline, to be honest. The knowledge just isn't there anymore.
Even then, as you noted, the guy they made into an Astartes was slower than even the slowest of the ''true'' Astartes, and just generally only got to be that way because he was the adopted father of one of the Primarchs.
Slight correction to 2 parts.
1. Their sizes varry greatly between legion heritage. Some are smaller, like the Imperial fist, some are larger like the Raven Guard and Lunar wolves-
- the latter 2 tend to average out at 8.2 feet or 2.50m
2. The Rib cage isnt actually a singular piece but instead the ribs developed into slightly overlapping plates, as according to the newer lore.

If I'm not mistaken battlefield doctrine recommends not keeping space marines awake for more than 3 days if possible as even their battlefield readiness starts to suffer beyond that point.
True. The impression I got from reading a novel about Space Wolves is that Space Marines actually try to get a normal human amount of sleep when the situation allows for it.

I thought in the lore it said space marines aren't castrated, they just have a normal baby if they somehow end up making someone pregnant.
@@thedoruk6324 Not really, when you think about it. We actually have a perfect example of how hormones work without use of the related organs in a minority group today: transexual men who spent the majority of their puberty on hormone treatments. Physically, these men are completely indistinguishable from others of their gender, however, they completely lack testicles. Even should they take the drastic step of gender reassignment surgery, they only have prostheses, not the actual functioning organs. You can get everything they can give you through a pill or syringe, therefor they are not needed for space marine augmentation.
I apologize in advance to everyone I just made profoundly uncomfortable, but most of you knew what you where getting into reading below a comment that mentions super-soldier castration.
@@adrianflare7951 Um... no, not at all. There is some old lore about the Emperor of mankind having children (and when I say old, I mean it literally has not ever been mentioned since the first release of the first book of the first edition of 40k in the early 1980's) but those children where superhuman, demon-murdering space samurai.
