I watched the original too! 🙋 I love my instant pot for cooking dry beans. Literally it cooks dry pintos in 45 minutes including the natural release. You can't beat that!
I have cooked pinto beans the old fashion way for refried beans but never did it again because it took so much effort for just burritos. Not that I eating more heart healthier and cutting back on salt too I don't plan to use can refried beans ever again because this is too easy. Can refried beans have 520mg of sodium for half a can! Now to find something beside flour tortillas because they are high in sodium too. Great video can't wait to start watching more of them!
7:40 you should not use the remaining liquid from beans / legumes, they can give you / others when consumed a lot bloating; i rinse, soak, re-rinse my legumes thoroughly before and after cooking (lentils excluded of the after-soak process) - soaking in a bit of kombu seaweed before cooking can also help with bloating issues, btw.
Awesome video! Quick question: When you say "natural release," do you leave the valve on "sealing" or do you turn it to "venting"? Also, can the instant pot handle 2 pounds of chickpeas or would it be too much?
Hi Chanty I just got the small 3- quart instant pot and want to make lentils, Can you please tell me what is the amount in cups of lentils and water I would need for this? Also can I put creamy nut plant milks or coconut milk when making a chilli with potatoes in here to make them creamy, or will it explode? Also for the pinto beans can you add less water at the beginning so they are less liquidy at the end or will they burn? I want to make them for burritos too. But want less liquid.
Hi Rachel..just read your comment. When you look at your IP you see like an arched overhang on the one side? Just line up the lid (with the release valve) to the left side of that Arch and your lid should go on easy every time. Hope this helps!
John Sparkman ahhh thank you so much! to be perfectly honest, I typically move the lid around until it finally fits and let’s me close it, so this is so helpful! haha thank you!
Haha your cringey original bean video is how I found your channel! I found it when first got my instant pot & was looking for vegan recipes. So it worked for me lol
Btw I have an instant pot mini and I think it takes way longer to cook beans! I like them the same texture as you, and it takes like 45 min for pinto beans :/
You look beautiful yesterday and will be beautiful forever even if you have a purple brown lipstick . So, don’t worry, just show your recipes and your grace.👍👩🏻🦳♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🇨🇦

Hi, what if you used the remaining liquid to saute something?
I need to make some more this week so this is definitely helpful to me.
how to store beans? my cooked beans get spoiled in the refrigerator after about 2 days.

If beans give anyone tummy pains, soaking is preferred even if you use an IP.
Helpful! Thank You 🙏

How do you avoid the gas that happens after eating beans? i am a big fan of your channel but I suffer from gas with beans
Soak them for 8 -9 hours in water. Drain and use.
Beans
Two thumbs up!
Thanks for no music.
Betty Davis couldn’t watch her movies, keep in mind. Don’t worry about NOT wanting to watch
Yap yap yap. Takes you ten minutes to explain this. Could have been done in two. I have zero respect for you.
You’re a sad, sad excuse for a man. I applaud chanty for not responding to a piece of crap like you.
