I'm so glad you listened to the studio version. I love the live version you reacted to; especially Martin and Dave harmonizing, but I feel like Dave's voice is harsh on that one, and detracts from the crazy beauty of the original. Especially back in the day when I listened to this on cassette (haha!), it ended side A, and with eyes closed, immersed in this song, it was glorious.
William Orbit did some remixes for them and Madonna asked Martin to collaborate....one of the times I met I asked him his thoughts on her and said she was small...lol
Thank you so much for reacting to this. Waiting for the night is another classic from their legendary Violator album. Really stands out in its spacey, dreamy minimalism. If you liked this, I would advice you to listen to their 1998 single Only when I lose myself, which has a similar feel and is also outstanding (although studio version then, they never really nailed that one live). Or just keep getting through the list you received with the last video - all tracks are spot on! 😏
Violator is such a special album! Every single track is brilliant! In fact, 3 B Sides left off the album are worth reacting to. Dangerous, Sea of Sin, and Happiest Girl.... This one though is really kind of special. Very Ethereal! Alan Wilder was really involved in the production and really helped push the sound.
Love these reactions. Great work James. One of my favourites on Violator. Listening to this in bed at night with curtains open and looking up at night sky gives it a whole different dynamic. That knowing look between Martin and Dave was because of balling up the words. Love this, try: I Want It All (from Playing The Angel) and Saw Something ( from Dave's 2nd solo album Hourglass).
Fan of the Basildon Bond 4, since 80s Glad you play this track. Love it . Your talking about Martin, vocals. Take a look at Martin's earlier day of singing. depeche mode old grey whistle test. & listen to Counterfeit E.P Martin Gore. If you haven't already
👍 Great reaction video as always, you have such a knowledge of music and love to see you so passionate. I prefer the live performance, it's stripped to the basics and is very haunting without fussy background sounds, and I agree...would be great in a film
Hi James great reaction again can you do a reaction to a track CLEAN off the same album Martin wrote it after getting over his drug addiction another masterpiece
Its interesrting to see both of them together...just Dave and Marty left ...fans will be in tears next tour in the beginning of the show if it even happens ...there will be a definite void with Andy missing...🥺
It's really too bad that Dave messed the lyrics up (twice!) during that performance... I have a hard time enjoying it fully given the mistakes. Martin covers for him the first time, but then just turns and laughs the second time Dave fucks up. lol If this had happened back in the heyday, DM quality control (aka Alan) never would've allowed this "warts and all" version to see the light of day. Still, it is kind of cool to see Dave and Martin's interactions around the mess ups. If you like the song, I think the 2001 live version (from Exciter Tour film, "One Night in Paris") is far superior (and Dave remembers all the words!).

Bloody cassette. What a flashback. Remember getting spiceworld on cassette as a little boy haha
I was always too impatient (after finishing Halo) to get to Enjoy the Silence and used to fast-forward through it to side B 🤣

Pure crowd control. Must listen to the original and how it is placed on the album, and how it flows to the next track. And what a track.
Aw ty so much for your reaction...yeah this song you need to hear with headphones ...like pink floyd

Hi James great reaction again can you do a reaction to a track CLEAN off the same album Martin wrote it after getting over his drug addiction another masterpiece
💯 what year was this album?
1990 most people think probably Depeche mode best album👍
@@mickm3877 Great song choice, but Martin didn't write it about getting sober... hence the "sometimes".
Listen to goodnight lovers live from touring the angel - similar style and equally brilliant
