Boring Hammerhead Twister 250, Would a TRX200SX Motor Make It More Interesting?

- Bought this Hammerhead Twister 250 this Spring for $250. I was told that it had a drive issue. So far, we managed to get it to fire on starting fluid. Something needs to happen with this UTV before winter sets in, but, I already have a SunL 150cc Alias and to bring this cart back OEM would be kind of boring! Swapping the engine out for a Honda TRX200SX brings in both an electric start as well as the recoil, it gets rid of the water cooling and all its troubles, it also makes the cart more fun to drive with the 5 speed transmission.
Yes go for it! Build a shifter cart👍
After you diagnose the CFMOTO 250 and get it running, what the heck. Maybe the lessons prepping the Honda 200 would have great value to us students. I'm still working on getting the basics down before I get in too deep with a project. I'll be watching whether you're riding it or building it.
I have a roketa 150 that I put a 200 cc Gio motor in it. It's pretty fun and I'd say it's worth it. Then when you figure it out go bigger next time.
It's pretty hard to kill a Honda engine I think it's a pretty good idea I'd go with it
Glad your doing your thing brother You need to come check out the the Carter I got from you ,make a video
I'd rather see it fixed and driving the way it is BUT if it does have drive problems it wouldn't bother me a bit to engine swap to the honda. I do not like water cooled engines either!!! Air cooled works just fine so water cooling only adds un-needed complication. Either way you go I'm gonna watch and enjoy. It's your toys and your channel so do it how you want. 👍👍
hope you do the Honda power conversion on the cart that would be interesting to see done
👍👍sounds like a good project
I am willing to help you build it make it a beast
Great idea,
They're all worth doing. :) I'd put a Honda engine in it.
Harvey lad, if it gives you pleasure to swap the engine and share the journey then go for it, OK ? Love your stuff.
Should be interesting. Go for it!
A small 200cc engine is going to be inadequate for the go kart and your weight! Need to put something in the 40 horsepower range turn it into a little utv buggy. Kind of like a sand rail.
That would be cool
Go for it, I recently restored one for my granddaughter with a 16hp briggs opposed twin driving the original gy6 cvt/reverse. She loves it and its as dependable as a riding mower...
The CFMOTO motor is NOT JUNK.
CFMOTO is a great company, thier products are not junk and they are very well built. The Hammerhead frame is a nice build too compared to other go karts/buggies.
With that said, a manual shift motor would give you greater control of torque vs speed especially in tight areas where you need a lot of torque at high RPMS.
Am wondering if you know of a solution for a missing front drive shaft for an 87 or 88 350 Big Bear they only fit those years and I didn’t see it was missing when I bought the quad first quad for me and didn’t know what to look for I’m up in Canada
I've been watching you for years- we share the same love for Honda's! I've put the TRX200SX in 6 of my mini-buggies over the years. There are very few other motors that can keep up with the 200SX. @ 90lbs. it's very capable of about anything. These motors run circles around the GY6,CF250 & cn250's. I just bought the same Hammerhead (GT model) and am going to convert it to the 200sx. Do the swap!!!!
Can not wait to see this
Do it Mr Harvey I have a sunl cart I've been wanting to put lakota 300 on just haven't got motivated to do yet .Keep up the great videos
Hello
Put a honda XL500 in it and don't worry about reverse .
$250 for that. Where i live and in that same "unkown" condition youd spend around $800+ with "lost" title
Did you ever do anything with this build? Just curious?
Do it!😎
