Honestly, the Mistral boss fight for me is the most epic of the lot. I love the fight with Sam, and that one is probably the best fight, but the fact that the fight with Mistral takes place in three different areas, with a lot of fire and destruction raining around the two of them, I just find it way more intense than any other. And the song is a banger as well
The only thing holding Mistral's fight from being excellent in my eyes is the dwarf gekkos. They always keep jumping on you when you're trying to focus on Mistral to parry or evade her attacks, and the worst part of it all is that you are forced to wiggle your joystick like a maniac whenever they do it
Same. Not only that but details such as her getting battle damage through her hair getting untied. And then she dies the dumbest way. Close second is Monsoon to me. Just because of how hard he hammers home that you must parry. And you basically being in super mode the whole time. Then Armstrong and Sam are super badass, but their fights alone don't feel that epic, bare Armstrong having 200% life. And then there's Sundowner, who has a shit gimmick and relies on allied and a fuckign choper.
@@sketchy_mat438 Problem of her fight is that it's a little easy and her death feels really fucking dumb compared to the others. But she got one of the best music, interesting mechanics, cool voice lines and the evolution of the stage is fucking cool.

1:56 i literally never even knew he jumps off and starts swinging pillars. I feel like he needed more health or to just have gotten rid of the shields entirely cause that shit is soo cool!
They really should have made his phase with the shield take WAY less damage, so that you would have to learn the mechanic to beat him and also the section with the lyrics would play for longer. It's WAY too easy to have him almost dead by the time the final phase kicks in.
He should have blocked ALL damage and simply knocked you away from him (without dealing damage for fairness) no matter which angle you attack him from as long as his shields are stil up.
On my first run of this game, I played on hard and never bought a Strength upgrade (this wasn't a self imposed challenge or anything, I just never thought to for some reason). I also prioritized breaking Sundowner's shields, because I figured that was the way you were supposed to do it. Under those circumstances, I found the Sundowner fight to be very fun; in fact, when done that way, it's possibly my favorite fight in the game. It's a shame he's such a pushover if you play normally.
Lon. My first run i didnt knew i can upgrade sword..... Anyways LIKE I SAID KIDS ARE CRUEL AND I LOVE MINORS AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA wait.... RAIDEN DONT CALL COPS I DIDNT MEAN THIS!!!!!
damn i did the same, but i did because i thought it makes the game too easy, then once i finished it i realized theres a literal achievement for completing the game on hard with no upgrades
Well, a sword cuts, but scissors usually cut in two... so... uh... Sundowner is called sundowner, because his mommy doesn't allow him to play outside after sun set.
I've destroyed his shields only a few times, but I always kill him before I can see any of the attacks he uses. So I'm kinda surprised to see what I keep missing out on.
Raiden's distance when in slow-motion seems almost nil. Maybe it's supposed to be this way since Raiden lacks depth perception. Which is quite dangerous and odd for such an expesnive cyborg.
We need a mod that gives Sundowner three phases like Sam. In shield phase you cannot damage hit because he will parry all your attacks so you must take his shields out. After that phase 2 begins with the standard phase 2 stuff he just has 2 times more hp. Then once he gets to 40 percent he will be even quicker and he will begin to use the pincer blades kind of like how Raiden uses them which means he will have more unblock able attacks. Then once he gets to 5 percent the helicopter scene at the end will happen.
How to have fun with Sundowner: 1) Cut off the all the shields; 2) Change into the wooden sword (better with the "downgrading" upgrade) 3) Enjoy the Red Sun over paradise!
i'm sad this guy was as easy as he was, cause he's easily my favorite character from this game and i love the concepts shown during his fight, as well as his unique fighting style. he's really cool as a character when you start looking into him.
There's no character I didn't love in this game. God, If only modern games had such a glorious insane and diverse cast. (Diversity of thought, not skin color) I also loved how armstong won, despite losing. Raiden fights his very own wars, like armstrong always wanted everybody to do.
When I first fought him I thought you had to use the helicopters to shoot him in the back while faced you to create an opening, but no, it was much simpler than that
It says a lot about freedom to play when the game lets you damage him when he has his shield. But it would be a much more exciting boss fight if it was harder to damage him with shields or you couldn’t. That way you get to hear that sweet battle music.
MGSR readlly didn't need "freedom of gameplay". It didn't have the means to and it didn't need to. I enjoyed stealth kills, but there were many features that had bad synergy, but couldn't stand on their own. That being said, In other games I love crazy builds, like doing a "ranged only" in Nier:Automata
I swear on my first 2 playthroughs I never even KNEW there were different attacks for him, and I was shocked when he started hitting with the poles on my 3rd playthrough
I honestly think this is one of the best boss themes in this game, but sucks how much it's over looked cause most people are too impatient to cut open his shields. I genuinely think should have had like 150 health or something or keep it at 100, but he takes longer to kill for how much of a brute force he is in the game.
It's sidestepping - a hard to pull off attack which apparently is very useful since bosses are mostly fixated on their cones. You'd never know if you didn't try. There's no regular dodge in the game.
This is what I like about your gameplay. You have fun with it, but your also efficient. I feel like your video is one of the only one where someone actually takes out Sundowner's shields to cue the music instead of just annihilating him with the shields up. We appreciate your stylish awesomeness!
Idea for the game, when sundowner gets too low during his first phase, the helicopters flying around him will connect some sort of healing cable, to stop his rapid healing you must destroy the helicopter, the helicopters would also respawn after some time, making the fight more drawn out, on top of that, to activate sundowners second phase you must crash a helicopter into him with a QT event, once this happens, you will be taken inside the building, and this is where Sundower goes full apeshit on you. Does this sound like a good idea?
... looks like I have ti replay this game again! I didn't knew this phase of his existed o_O I always beaten him before and never saw a reason to destroy his shields... it actually seems that destroying the shields makes him more agressive and "fun" to fight against! Interesting!
Honestly this whole fight felt like such a missed opportunity. Sundowner has been shown throughout the game and literally your first intro to him he cleaves through a bunch of guards like nothing. I feel like this boss should have 3 phases, one with the shields where he's actual invincible and you need to get them out of the way. The second phase where he simply dual wields his swords where he's faster but doesn't do alot of damage, then his third phase where he goes scissor mode, he's slower but hits like a tank. Just cut the whole section where you have to rid of mechabird up to the top again, that whole section really killed the structure of the boss fight for me.
i'm amazed at how i can hear alucard in sundowner's voice. like...i know it's crispin freeman voicing him, but you can hear hints of alucard from time to time, especially when sundowner laughs.
So you're telling me there's people that DIDNT break his shield???? Tf? I never even thought you could win the battle without doing so, they're huge red pannels with literal indications on how to cut if you go slow mo
Just beat the game last night, and I wish someone had told me to just focus the shields, I ignored them and hit him in the back until I won, so it felt super lame.
Lmao same I beat it recently and the fight went so slow because of that. And I was so confused when I got no cool vocals. So I went online and found out you needed to take out the shields and then I re did the whole chapter just to fight him properly.

If you wanted to make him better, just triple his health bar.
Or make him sunny D.owner and have raiden ve pepsi man
*300% INVINCIBLE*
that is lazy game design
@@animeprofilepicture8855 Alright then, 110% health, and he stands around and does nothing a lot less than before.
nah making enemies a damage sponge doesn't helps with anything, you can just use unupgraded katana or the wooden katana if you want that.
Raiden vs Sundowner:
1. Sundowner: "I'm F'ing Invincible!"
2. Raiden: (Cut's off 1st set of shields)
3. Sundowner: "The F!"
4. Raiden: (Cut's off second set)
5. Sundown: "What the..."
6. Raiden: (Cut's off third set)
7. SunnyD: (panting with rage) "I'll split you in two...!
8. Raiden: (Cut's off dinky arm holding second machete)
9. SunVeryDown: (Through barely restrained tears) "...Why are you so cruel!?"
>:)

10. Raiden: "It's simply because......
I have become a child."
Fuck I used to love SunnyD
I think you can't skip any phases in Mistral, no matter how fast you are.
Also, her phases are very distinguished.
Ironically the fight i like the less is mistral's, its just boring and easy for me, but i respect your opinion
@@sketchy_mat438 Problem of her fight is that it's a little easy and her death feels really fucking dumb compared to the others.
But she got one of the best music, interesting mechanics, cool voice lines and the evolution of the stage is fucking cool.
*Hey look a helicopter fight-*
Dmc 2
Hello old me.
@@ExhiledGod2 oh gosh
The codec should have said "Raiden you idiot, use homing missiles against the helicopter. I know you keep hoarding them and the heli goes down in one shot.
1:56 i literally never even knew he jumps off and starts swinging pillars. I feel like he needed more health or to just have gotten rid of the shields entirely cause that shit is soo cool!
yeah and its good that theres no friendly fire in that attack when the 2 guards appear and they get hit with the pillar too
They really should have made his phase with the shield take WAY less damage, so that you would have to learn the mechanic to beat him and also the section with the lyrics would play for longer.
RAIDEN DONT CALL COPS I DIDNT MEAN THIS!!!!!
damn i did the same, but i did because i thought it makes the game too easy, then once i finished it i realized theres a literal achievement for completing the game on hard with no upgrades
on my first playthrough i didnt upgrade till armstrong lol
1:20 Now that is some spot on VGM timing.

That quick “fuck you” from Raiden at the beginning always makes me laugh

Well, a sword cuts, but scissors usually cut in two... so... uh...
Sundowner is called sundowner, because his mommy doesn't allow him to play outside after sun set.
The way he goes “III’MM EFFIN IIINNNVVIINNNNCCCIIBBBBLLLEE” in slow motion whilst also in a very deep pitched voice. I love it.
I've destroyed his shields only a few times, but I always kill him before I can see any of the attacks he uses. So I'm kinda surprised to see what I keep missing out on.
didn't cut through the pillar mid swing 4/10
:(
@@GeorgeSalonikh :C
Raiden's distance when in slow-motion seems almost nil.
Maybe it's supposed to be this way since Raiden lacks depth perception.
Which is quite dangerous and odd for such an expesnive cyborg.
I like the idea that after stripping away his defense, he's forced to fight you for real.

I want to see the senator, Boss.
I wanna see him in 81 pieces like Sundowner, but I'll have to settle with the heart.
That moment when you have more health than the boss

Metal gear isn't a anime..
Nicola Ohara You're a bit dense aren't you.
My Name Is Earl is my favorite anime
We also isn't an anime
Just the sudden "F you!" that Raiden throws at Sundowner makes this whole thing funnier
Can we appreciate how badass Raiden looks when he is slowly approach to fight Sundowner?
4:08
Perfect timing
*SUNDOWNER:* Son of a bitch... you... got me!
I always listen to this song while playing mgo.
How to have fun with Sundowner:
1) Cut off the all the shields;
2) Change into the wooden sword (better with the "downgrading" upgrade)
3) Enjoy the Red Sun over paradise!
So get rid of the shields early, and you get an actually fair, if still slightly easy with all the openings, fight.
i'm sad this guy was as easy as he was, cause he's easily my favorite character from this game and i love the concepts shown during his fight, as well as his unique fighting style. he's really cool as a character when you start looking into him.
There's no character I didn't love in this game.
God, If only modern games had such a glorious insane and diverse cast.
(Diversity of thought, not skin color)
I also loved how armstong won, despite losing. Raiden fights his very own wars, like armstrong always wanted everybody to do.

It made me so sad that this wasn't how the boss battle played out, and it makes me even sadder that I get to see it.
aside from the lack of the helicopter sequence what all is changed aside from OP just breaking the shield really fast

I have played this game like 140 hours its awesome and one of the best hack and slash you should try some mods, nice video
what mods do you have
that's like 20 playthroughs. Impressive.
Sundowner: Can't break this shield, Jack!
Raiden: Fuck these shields, let's fight for real.
Breaking News: Local Man is “F-ing Invincible”
I swear on my first 2 playthroughs I never even KNEW there were different attacks for him, and I was shocked when he started hitting with the poles on my 3rd playthrough
I honestly think this is one of the best boss themes in this game, but sucks how much it's over looked cause most people are too impatient to cut open his shields. I genuinely think should have had like 150 health or something or keep it at 100, but he takes longer to kill for how much of a brute force he is in the game.
should have been plain invincible until you destroyed his shields.
Would have made for fun codecs.
Sundowner literally has body doubles of himself running after you instead of just normal minions, I love that
Im amaze of how he can maintain a close gap between him and sundowner, worth applauding.
It's sidestepping - a hard to pull off attack which apparently is very useful since bosses are mostly fixated on their cones. You'd never know if you didn't try. There's no regular dodge in the game.
1:00 Perfection
"Rest in pieces" after having slashed him completely loool

This man right here respects Sundowner.
I love every thing about sundowner, his personality the hype as fuck theme song and the fact he’s voiced by crispin freeman
Sundowner: Whats up Jack
Jack: fuck you
*Red sun starts*
This is what I like about your gameplay. You have fun with it, but your also efficient. I feel like your video is one of the only one where someone actually takes out Sundowner's shields to cue the music instead of just annihilating him with the shields up. We appreciate your stylish awesomeness!

This game was way too good for a spin off
Idea for the game, when sundowner gets too low during his first phase, the helicopters flying around him will connect some sort of healing cable, to stop his rapid healing you must destroy the helicopter, the helicopters would also respawn after some time, making the fight more drawn out, on top of that, to activate sundowners second phase you must crash a helicopter into him with a QT event, once this happens, you will be taken inside the building, and this is where Sundower goes full apeshit on you.
Does this sound like a good idea?
Finally I’ve been looking everywhere for this fight thanks for doing this
Enjoy that second phase while you can, because this music is a gift from God!
... looks like I have ti replay this game again! I didn't knew this phase of his existed o_O I always beaten him before and never saw a reason to destroy his shields... it actually seems that destroying the shields makes him more agressive and "fun" to fight against! Interesting!

Perfect all around.
Unfortunately, his health bar is the approximate length of my mother's patience.
IM F***ING INVINCI-
The slow motion is real. XD
Everybody: you're literally the weakest boss-
Sundowner: I don't give a f@ck I'm invincible.
"How's this jack? We can play up here without damaging the merchandise."
"FUCK YOU"
i'm amazed at how i can hear alucard in sundowner's voice. like...i know it's crispin freeman voicing him, but you can hear hints of alucard from time to time, especially when sundowner laughs.
0:49 why did bro aim for the nuts 😭😭😭
Yamare, Sundowner! You're splitting me in two!
So you're telling me there's people that DIDNT break his shield???? Tf? I never even thought you could win the battle without doing so, they're huge red pannels with literal indications on how to cut if you go slow mo
You can just sprint around them and stab him in the back. Its not even that hard.
And this kids, is someone that knows how to play games
Bro sundowner really is Fucking invincible it was just raining that night and he was off balance
