A very rare talent… I can’t deny that when I was a child, I wasn’t really into Mariah. As I grew up, I heard a few of her songs, and her voice always gave me goosebumps. I always thought she had the most beautiful tone, and even though at that time everyone was praising Whitney as the voice, I always liked Mariah more. I remember in December, they played ‘O Holy Night’ on TV, and from that day on, I fell in love with her. To me, it doesn’t matter if she fails 1,000 times… In my book, she is the best ever. No matter if, in the future, someone can reach the 10th octave or run 60 notes in a second… her musicality will still stand out, and no one can deny it. I thank the Lord I was born in the same lifetime as her.
People praise her now because she started before Mariah and had no competition in the 80s vocally but I honestly don't remember people praised Whitney so much in the 90s. Mariah was bigger and much relevant , she dominated everything.
