I had a titanium shovel back in the 90s when we had to grow food to survive the harsh economic situation in post-USSR Russia. And I can tell you - this thing is a blast. Lighter, faster, stayed sharp much longer - I could dig my patch all day without that much fatigue as with the standard steel shovels.
Back in the 90s, exporting titanium ingots was prohibited in Russia, but exporting goods manufactured from titanium was fine and dandy. This funky product was a tool to exploit that loophole. By the way, it has absolutely nothing to do with spetsnaz.
I’ve had the titanium one for a few years. I swapped the wood handle for a replacement cold steel one and a case. ( fits perfectly, much better than the ussr army one) I take it ever canoe camp, fits perfectly in my blue barrel 🛶🤙
Good review, but for me having both, plus the CS SF shovel and the Russian folding titanium shovel. I find both Russian titanium shovels too light for chopping and it will not get as sharp much less holds its edge as the CS carbon steel. plus the heavier ones throw better. The Cold Steel is my favorite. I think all in all if you want a good tool that seriously process wood and dig hard it can replace a hatchet, machete and big knife and still kicks but at digging and self defense. Go with the Cold Steel. I do carry the russian titanium trowel and have sharpend it so it can function as a spear or a long digging stick. If back packing light were my only concern then yes I would use the Russian titanium shovel or folding shovel.
If you think the CS Spetsnaz is heavy try using the East German Surplus folding shovel . As a truck shovel it's great . I used it to dig a 6' deep outdoor ejector pit thru shale and it kicks @ss .
....and me, i've got the CS shovel-and i beat the hell out/into it. And i do only maintenance on it(wash/sharpen/oil).... it's my first one so i must see how much it can do/can't do....and i'm very impressed so far😎
I'm pretty sure I paid over $100 Canadian, likely closer to $150. I'd recommend it for a soldier who needs to carry one. I understand they're still in the trenches in Ukraine, but even there I'm not sure how much digging is ever done like that in the field. Otherwise invest in full size tools and go to work!

That's crazy you lived through the collapse of the Soviet empire! How bad did things get? It's not easy growing and preserving any volume of food.

I think a few others commented that they like the cold steel shovel as well. I have a few cold steel knives in my collection and they're good quality
@@fattonyd232This IS right.I have Cold steel specnaz shovel and 20 swords and sabers from Cold steel.CS IS for me The BEST.
My condor shovel 😊 2:25 will hold its own against that shovel
The weight was my biggest concern. The titanium shovel is durable and light enough that it's a viable option to carry.
do you have links to the products? where do you get them?
eBay often but just google search and you might get other surplus shops etc that sell them
What’s the price of the titanium ?

My 20th vid on this shovel. Best Shovel Ever! Work ten minutes. Five minutes off. In one hour you'll outwork others by at least 20%.
