First of, really informative video. Exactly what I was looking for. Might I suggest one thing? You speak really fast, which might be worth slowing down a bit. Otherwise, subscribed and liked :) thanks!
@@lukeadams9575 You have to make cores in 5 of them, the provinces also need to be in one Colonial region. Look at: Geographicle Mapmodes > Colonial and Trade Regions
My problem is colonial range? I can only seem to colonize as Spain or Portugal because every other country I play as doesn’t have high enough colonial range to colonize the new world. Any help?
Sure, what Country are you trying besides Spain or Portugal? EUIV requires you to have a port province, but other then that you can pump colonial range through the way you tech. You are most likely also going to need to acquire land from your neighbors closer to colonial territory.
@@papasean8908 I’ve tried as most Western European countries, England, France, even Norway. But with all of them, the open provinces are too far out of my colonial range to colonize. Even as Norway, Greenland was too far to colonize for me. Any tips or tricks on how to boost colonial range? I’m still a beginner.
No limit, just exponential cost. First one might cost 1 gold per month, second might cost 4 gold, third might cost 16 gold per month, 64 gold per month for 5th and so on. Different tech can lower cost.
As you progress you will have other opportunities it may just slow you down a bit until they become available. Can focus on taking other nation's colonies through warfare.
Papa Sean I had so much set backs as Portugal in Brazil and Venezuela when I picked up the game a day or two ago, but got through that and started Json this guide as I'm new and began tearing my way across the world, thanks
Papa Sean However, I have a major problem with trying to colonize Australia, No islands or anything are open, and I can't defeat the Indonesian and Indian nations for some reason, so my ships die, any tips?
Last I played it was part of the decisions tech tree. you get your + points per your leaders and when you hit thresholds you can select options, a few of which increases colonists count.
thank you for not talking like we should know everything already!
Welcome, EUIV is a hard game to learn. Really builds those synapses trying to figure out how to do just about anything when first getting started.
You can land troops if you can see the whole tile, if its whited out with fog of war you need a conquistador
Thanks for the tip on Conquistadors and landing troops. Europa Universalis is one of my favorite games. Very Deep.

@@ex1st345 territorial cores are enough, right?
i sent 5k troops to carribean islands with colonizer as their leader, and their just standing there. how do i actually claim the territory?
You need colonists, not an army with a leader. You can get them through exploration and expansion ideas
My problem is colonial range? I can only seem to colonize as Spain or Portugal because every other country I play as doesn’t have high enough colonial range to colonize the new world. Any help?
