Dude I cried the first few times I listened to this song. It's an absolute masterpiece by a veteran band that is criminally underrated and underexposed. I've loved you guys for over 20 years, and the you made me cry at 39 is a testament to your ability to communicate emotion, pain, love and hope through music. I applaud you guys for it and can't wait to see you guys again live ...
Chris Aiken is an inspirational guy. Just search for his interviews on UA-cam. I am glad this video gives us some insight into the emotional experience of a bass player sitting on his couch with a Strat in creative mode. Otherwise , everyone hears the finished product and we all make false assumptions about the origins of the music. Thanks for including us in your world, Chris. See you next month. I'll be the tallest guy in the pit!
You nailed the message you were trying to portray perfectly chris. I do get that sad but posative feel with this song and your efforts weren't left fallow.
Wow bro. Very moving song. Sorry about your friend. The chords you play here do express hope. Great stuff. Your work with Stung Out is timeless. You kill it on guitar. Big thank you and please keep it up for us fans.
Definitely one of my favorite time signatures on any song of all time. This shit is bananas I've been trying to figure it out on drums this will be much easier haha cheers man
See you in Toronto in October 5th dude. Been listening to you guys since the beginning, biggest fan out there right here!! Put some more how to videos up! Velvet alley to start maybe? I’ve asked every guitar channel on UA-cam I subscribe to. I want to learn so many of your guys tracks. Bring lots of XL merch to Toronto, buy one in every colour!!! Can’t wait 😎🔥🎸🎶🤘
"Dude I am not from here, I play in the band you have inked on your arm" . Thanks for doing this. But why and how the %@%@ do we not play Strung Out in full D anymore. Is that on you ? Dude I'd tune in anything for Strung Out. We all love "Songs of Armor and devotion". Even though we are all at home crying about it.No one has UA-cam commented much on Strung Out?? That's a sick record.. 2019 got us good records on all and out labels' band. We want to hear them live now.
Thanks Chris. Love your bands songs and riffs. Got the Teenage Wasteland... CD in '96 and have been on board ever since. Enjoy how you guys evolve, still the same yet change your styles. Anyways, since you play bass, are you a guitarist at home and song writing?
I'm not too familiar with music theory but does this song have chord progressions that remind anyone of anime themes? This is one of my favorite SO tunes.
@3:16, the riff goes up to the 7th fret and climbs back down instead of back down to start the riff over. It's a nice little variation on the main riff, is all.

Chris is such a good guitar teacher that even a drummer could figure it out.
As soon as the first riff of the song started I immediately loved it - hearing the meaning behind it is great too. Great song
Let's just not think we are dinosaurs. Shows will be back and it's all up to us.
This song should be the #1 single. I don't know if it's the *best* song on the album, but it makes the best single.
I don’t think they’ve ever picked a good song for a single tbh.

Possible top 5 Strung Out songs of all
time. Crazy saying that. It’s a really great track. Thanks for sharing this.
Oh man, I would love a breakdown on more noodley bits. For instance, and going way back, the bits in Ashes.
Majical man! Thankyou, one of my favourites
Love it
This is awesome, thanks Chris
Teach us more!!!!! I’m stuck in my house and am strung out for real man!!!!

Been on repeat for a year

25+ years of writing songs to take to our graves, and then this one comes out to bully around all the other classics. oh man.
Great song.
Also, what model strat is that? Custom?

R.I.P.
Yeah, but what strat is that? Custom?
The only bit I can't quite see is the bit where you say "then it goes high, it's the only time it goes high"
Thanks for the tutorial man

Rewatched this video and it just struck me someone is holding the camera and recording you!
Wait, he plays guitar on the album for this song???
So all their songs are in E flat?
Amer Syed I believe only the songs from TAD and SOAAD. All their other albums are probably D tuning I’m pretty sure, which is also what they play live
Where's Jake?
I have the Godzilla figure in the back
Best tracks on the record:
1. Ulysses
2. Ulysses
3. Ulysses
4. Ulysses
5. Ulysses
6. Ulysses
7. Ulysses
8. Ulysses
9. Ulysses
10. Ulysses
11. Ulysses
12. Ulysses
13. Ulysses
Damn too bad I pretty suck at guitar, but best track on the album for sure
