Good vid. A Brit fellow did a YT review of this pack several years ago. He stated that when the pack is fully loaded, it constantly slips down his back slightly so that he was constantly pulling the load lifters to keep it up higher. He also stated when the pack became heavy, the shoulder straps pinched the forward area of his armpits.
@@kenmorrison1725 About the look you're right, about the quality the French F3 (F2 new generation actually) is garbage if you really use your backpack and not only collect them 😉 I've had many Berghaus as well as the Belgian M97 and they're of similar quality, it's almost the same pack as the Cyclops II Vulcan. I've known Belgian paratroopers (I'm Belgian) who used it for their whole career as para, jumped with it etc and the pack was still fine after many years of hard use... On the other hand I was interested by the "F3" (because of its look and comfort) and had access to a lot of infos about it (since I'm a French speaker) but all French soldiers complain about it. They very rarely use it, usually only to go to a deployment and to come back from it and when they come back from a few months abroad (even if they didn't use it intensively) the straps are all used and abused, some buckles break easily, there are often holes at the bottom etc and all this because of the transport and a few kilometers of walk... We have second hand apps here (for Belgium and France) and you see all soldiers selling theirs after only one mission haha, and they look like 50 years old bag 😂 Looks cool but lowest bidder, unfortunately. Such a pity that the Belgian M97 isn't used anymore, and that all the good ones (not the heavily used ones) were already sold...
@@RedBranchBushcraft That's the one I would like, with the front opening 👍 I sold most of my backpacks last year (cause it became an addiction) and just kept a Lowe Alpine Saracen. But everytime I use it I wish I had a bag with a front opening 😅 And smaller haha. Coincidentally I bought another Berghaus Crusader this afternoon, that's why I was watching backpacks reviews on UA-cam again. I didn't need it but the guy charged me 32 euros shipping included for it, I fell into the trap and got addicted again I guess... Next one a Spartan maybe 🤞 Enjoy yours mate 😉
i think all of the big rucksacks are good, if you don't load them to heavy. sometimes you have to carry a huge sleepingsystem and than you still have space for something else
Thanks for showing. The Belgium Jigsaw Camo actually works good, if you look closer, you can discover it works very good in evergreen trees forests with the brownish, dead needles on the floor. Happy Trails! Regards from Germany, Torsten
@@RedBranchBushcraft Got you. I know SAVOTTA packs well, had the large around for a year, could not become friend with the roll closure top. So I gave it away. But besides my personal preference it´s a really good bag. High qualitiy and well made. So I switched to the SAVOTTA Jääkäri Medium (yes, way smaler, but it was intentional). This pack is now one of my prefered backpacks. Over all, I can recommend SAVOTTA packs much. bye Torsten
I have the medium, it's nice but it's a day pack of me , I want to get a bigger one , hopefully I can get 10 common overnight size bags together and compare them
The side pouches that unzip can be zipped together to make a smaller backpack if you wished and also if you zipped the side pouches together to make a backpack you can zip the whole thing in the ruck sack I have the same panel as wel and I can’t figure out what it’s used for
What rucksack? I couldn’t see it…😉 You tried the Swedish Alpenflage kit yet, Wooly? Looks odd, but in autumn, in a leafed forest…it dissapears…. All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧
that part you found in the lid replaces a pouch on the side. Not sure what yer supposed to connect to it. would make more sense to make the panel with PALS webbing.
@@RedBranchBushcraft it is, but someone should make some webbing panels for them as their are a lot of surplus packs with the same zippers on the sides. British, dutch and Belgian packs all have the same zippers spaced the same.
Wish my 90l short back British army Bergen had a comfy carrying system like that no comfort with the the British army Bergen and the Bergen is heavy with nout in it
One of the packs they sell is actually a Lowe Alpine. I don’t remember which country, but I’ve been tempted to get one. It’s a little big, but a Lowe bag for like $125 Canadian is pretty sweet.
I had that backpack years back. Didn't like it at all. Made only one hike with it. It is huge but not comfy. Liked Berghaus more and even old british army "bergen" was better than this Belgian army backpack, if you ask me. But if it fits to you nicely, it is bombproof stuff👌

This has 90's rucksack written all over it so I can see why the comfort might not be the best
The pattern looks less loud than when it's new. Effective when faded and a bit dirty. Looks good.
Works very well, I was suprised
That pup is a proper GSP.

Have you considered the the Aussie Crossfire ruck?
I've never heard of it, any links
Hey Wooly, how would you go about washing one of these? Presumably, they arrive with an odour?
