How to Care for a Copperband Butterfly : Saltwater Aquarium/ReefTank Fish

  • I had a copperband butterfly for 2 years and here are some quick tips and ways how I got mine to eat and feed.
    The fish can be used to control aptasia but it shouldn't be the primary reason you get one.
    The fish gets up to 8" and is recommended for a tank up to 125 gallons. Mine is about 4.5 to 5 inches and is in a 4 foot 75 gallon tank.

    Great information, thank you for sharing. I've had a CBB in the past and it ate everything on day one. I recently purchased a CBB and I will try the clams as you have shown in your video. It does pick at frozen mysis but it is not that interested in eating yet.

    Okay, now you made me want a copperband....I don’t have big aggressive fish and I know I have pods out the ying yang....this might be something for me to seriously think about. I’m glad you’re back to making videos O. You have a heck of a lot of knowledge and experience to share. 👍🏻👍🏻

    He’s in my holding tank. I will make a video of him. I’m about to do a bigger build so I didn’t want to stress him out and pull him back out the tank. He’s going into my 90 holding for the move. He’s in a 34g right now. I will make a video.

    Great video. Love your fish. I had a Chaetodon aureofasciatus for a few years that I had to feed clam like you showed. He had a face of a copper band- 2 copper lines then fades to body. Anyway, your video reminded me of all the good times I had with Mr. Mimosa. Cheers!

    Thanks for the video O. I had a Copperband several years ago and he died after he ran out of the feather duster type worms that were invading my tank at the time. I’ve always wanted to have one in my tank since then but have been afraid because I didn’t want to buy one just to watch him die of starvation in my Tank.

    Tenho um cooper band e peixe há muito tempo mais de dois anos, uma maravilha de peixe,só me preocupa mesmo é a ele passar toda a noite às voltas para cima e para baixo na parede lateral do aquário (800)L será temperamento dele? Não descansa que toda a noite. Gasta muita energia?! Alguém sabe de uma dica para o sossegar!

    I had a very healthy one for two years. Ate pellets and flake food out of my finger tips. Also ate all frozen foods. I went on vacation for a week and set up an auto feeder, but when I got back it was barely hanging on and no longer eating. Not sure iff I'll ever try another one.

    Great video! I would like to know more about the fresh clams you get at the store. Do you clean the shell or meat in anyway before you put it in your tank? I am in Arizona and tried a clam from the store but something living on the shell made all my fish sick and they all died in less than 2 weeks. I would like to try clams from the store again but maybe I didn't have all the info I needed. Then I think, how fresh are the clams in the store in Arizona?

    • @ReefingwithO
      @ReefingwithO  6 років тому

      I washed and scrubbed the shells but I didn't do anything to the meat. I get freshwater clams here in NYC which is available everywhere fresh. I never thought about contaminating the tank -

    • @melaniesimpson6322
      @melaniesimpson6322 6 років тому

      I freeze my fresh clams first and that kills anything living inside, then I thaw when ready to feed one.

      You should absolutely get one. It can be as cheap, simple or as complicated as you want. There are a ton of videos and livestreams on UA-cam about how to set one up and where you can always get help if you need it.

      @@jkbruno1161 keep it simple, just mix the salt to recommended lvls, and do the same thing every time. If you want Coral, try softies. Just mix salt to recommended lvls. Test water once a week and enjoy.
