Francis, you are just such a beast, I followed you this year thinking you had like a 150k subs, and everything seemed 'in order' for a yt'ber of that caliber, it just seems like only a matter of time before your unique, chilled out videos will gain a larger audience. As a yr13 student, you have a very calming demeanour which is like therapy its own right, that you for bring such a legend, well done on your successful application
This video was super informative and helpful, have been feeling lost in the decision process of what to apply for and what experience I need to get onto the DClinPsy. This cleared up alot of things and was also entertaining to watch! congrats on the doctorates :)
Just found you through your comment on sharon B trainee doctorate video. You have such a calmness about you. Your youtube audience retention must be through the roof! Thank you for this video it helped clarify my decision on my psych journey and i’m so excited to watch more videos from you. In fact I am actually going to binge watch them all lol
Thank you for this video, it’s really helpful for an aspiring clinical psychologist, especially as you have experience of my dream unis. I’m currently in year 12 and hoping to apply for PBS at Cambridge next year, and I’d love to see a video with advice on getting onto an undergrad psychology course. It would be particularly helpful if you could share advice on standing out in applications to get into competitive unis as you’re clearly very good at it! I was so pleased to hear you got into Oxford for your doctorate, especially so soon after graduating from your undergrad, congratulations!
You are such an inspiration Francis! I am also aspiring to become a clinical psychologist and you’re videos have been of immense use to me. I also identify with you since you went Cambridge and I got an offer for PBS from Jesus College too. Perhaps we can work together one day, but it will be a long time. Keep doing what your doing.
Congrats on getting onto the doctorate!! Also applied for the very first time this year with less than a year's experience and just found out I'm on the reserve list for a place at Edinburgh. Looking forward to your future videos :)
Thank you sm Laura! And congrats on getting reserve list at Edinburgh that's unreal 🥳 hope you aren't left in limbo for too long and you find out the outcome soon either way😊
Been following you for a while now, congratulations on starting your doctorate! I just got into an MA for Sociology and would also like to work with youth and adolescents. Thanks for your journey- looking forward to more videos!
I am binge watching your video, and I'm really into psychology as well. I was surprised to find out you had working experience in China. As Chinese, I'm curious to know your experience in China as well as your thoughts about the development of psychology in China:)
MIRANDA I binge watched all your videos when I was applying! Also you probs won't remember but you answered my question in one of Jason's webinars and gave me some great advice about seeking autonomy on placement, which I have tried to put into practice all year😎
@@FrancisMadden @Francis Madden Get out of town?!?! SMALL WORLD! Ahh I'm so glad you found it useful, really kind of you to say. If you choose to document, really looking forward to following your doctorate journey! Your video making skills are 👌👌👌
It's always funny to see what the process of becoming a clinical psychologist is like in other countries. Where I live, you just need to have a degree in psychology (from a 5-years graduation) and you can legally act as any kind of psychologist. I don't think that's ideal, especially considering we're dealing with people's lives.
I imagine the mental health education of the ice age was pretty lacking. I imagine, though, if he were to continue his journeys with Manny, Diego and Sid, though he could have started on the rudiments
I'm very interested in your mentioning of employee health and welfar development in the hospital of Manchester, as being a A level student myself would you mind explaining a bit more about ur experience there
Hey Francis! Thank you so much for this video! I am also looking for DPCP in UCL how can i coonect with you for more guidance about it as i am an international student.
Hey Francis, love your vids! Hope u can help me out with a question I've got. So I'm planning on applying to uni of Amsterdam for bsc in psychology but it's not bps accredited so how can I get a dclinpsy?
hey , I am cuurently doing my master's and I want to apply for Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in Oxford and I am not able to find that course on the website. I have a few questions as well, is any experience needed to start a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology?
Would you be accepted on a masters in clinical psychology if you are a mental health social worker? I'm seriously thinking about going down the route of becoming a Clinical Psychologist.
which one is better for an international student msc health psychology or msc psychology (conversion) and whatt jobs can i go into after msc health and can i opt for dclinpsy after health psych?
As someone wanting to pursue clinical psychology, this video was massively helpful! I hope this isn't too intrusive but I'm wondering about your academic record (esp your undergrad at Cambridge). Do you think that you have to have a massive first to get onto a doctorate as quickly as you did? Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! I only just got a first at Cambridge, I don't think it matters if you get a high/low one tbh. They score you academically (at Oxford anyway) by giving you a number of points for a first/2.1/2.2, distinction/merit/pass, A*/A/B at A-Level.
Yes I think you just have to tick the self funded options on clearing house. Might also be worth looking at individual unis' websites in case they have their own application forms
Think we are gonna need a Man City psychology video please… Still recovering rn. 😔😂 I really find these videos fascinating. You’re dissertations sound very interesting too, would love to hear more about them. Also thank you for mentioning about the hypnosis for IBS patients I’ll be sure to pass that onto my dad. Those prices for the courses tho 💀. Incredible seeing the level that you’re reaching now and how much experience you’re gaining. Is it weird to say, proud of you (it’s a weird social relationship people have with UA-camrs you feel far more connected with them)? You seem like a pretty self-motivated person. Have you ever burned out with all this work you’re doing, I’d guess the fulfilling experiences you’re getting are making it far easier to motivate yourself with. However purely the work or essays part do you ever get to the verge of quitting or how do you continue to motivate yourself? I’m doing a HND sports course so I’m miles below your level and already feel like stopping before year 2 starts. I’m almost done this year but I’ve really hit a brick wall recently right before it’s finished with just the sheer workload and boredom. I’m not sure if I’m just a slow worker but most of the continual assessment module essays we do take me at least a day to do. Maybe with the summer break I’ll get a renewed amount of motivation… Keep up the great vids! 👍
Appreciate the time you take to write these comments Mr Spartan! I'm never recovering from that city match haha Yeah I'm proud of UA-camrs I've watched growing up tbh, I think weirdly people who watch me might know me better than some of my friends do lol I get the burned out and wanting to give up moments like anyone else, the version of me you see on here is far more put together than I am most of the time hahah. If I hit a brick wall I just take a step back, which could be going for a walk/to the gym/meeting friends. Or making UA-cam videos lol

Hi Francis, can you tell us a bit more of how did you get to shadow in the hospital in Manchester?
Do you have any advice for applying for the Developmental Psychology and Clinical Practice Masters at UCL?
Please could you do a video on the masters conversion course in psychology and the pathways ahead after completing the course?

Yeah I've heard it differs a lot! My friend from Egypt on my course atm can technically already practice back home, similar to your situation
would the ice age baby make a good clinical psychologist
he's got the lived experience imo

It's definitely there! You need at least 6 months full time equivalent experience I believe
While working on ur doctorate, did you have to go through any exams?
how did you afford to live in london for your masters?
Can u expained about clinical psychology as i am curious about it plz .

yes you can via health psych too, have you applied anywhere?
is it possible to apply to DClinPsy in the UK with a honours degree in psychology from New Zealand?
No you have to get a BPS accredited psychology degree. You could do a 1 year accredited psychology masters conversion course.
