- Answering questions I receive all the time when people find out that I have an electric mower.
1. How long does it last?
2. How long does it take to charge it?
3. How much can you cut?
4. How well does it cut?
5. Does the batteries come out?
and a few other topics that I cover in this video. Watch me abuse my own mower so you do not have to. This is an amazing mower and I would buy it again in a minute.
Lowes sells it most of the time for $5,499 but Amazon has it for $4,999.
Here is the link.

My gas mower died last summer so I'm in the market for a new mower. I'm pretty much sold on these. Thanks for the real world demonstrations. I enjoyed seeing how much "abuse" it can take.
I love this guy. This demonstration is a testament to the performance and how rugged the mower is.
Thanks for the tips--we're looking forward to delivery today!
I'm on my second year owning the Z6. I still get looks from the neighbors while they struggle each spring to start their gas powered stuff. I have about the same equipment you do. A 5 year old walk behind with original battery, weed eater, chain saw, snow blower and need to get a blower and the new misting fan. I want it all. Thanks for the vid. Good job.
I just love mine. Thank you for watching
I love your enthusiasm for this! Keep up the awesome work!
Well thank you so much. Comments like this just warms my heart
Thanks for the great video! Very helpful! And I especially enjoyed just you being yourself!
Well thank you so much
Really great video from an awesome real world person!!!! Looking to purchase the E-Steer soon. Thanks for making this video!!!
I just used my new Z6 for the second time. I cut grass that was up to 18 inches. I am still going slow, but this mower cut right thru all this overgrown back yard I had. Love this mower. Also, this was the most useful video i found on using the mower.
Thank you this video’s 2nd half had me laughing the whole time, loved when your wife said have you lost your mind. This is hysterical. I wanted to get one but just couldn’t afford it. Maybe when I find one used down the road. But great video.
Like others have replied, great video, thank you. My question is about the deck and blades, specifically removing the deck to remove and sharpen blades, then replacing the deck and keeping the mowing height specs. Thanks
Love the real world testing demonstration.
My dad thought your video was so funny he has been watching you for three hours now 😂😂😂
Thanks. You Showed me what’s it’s made of. I have a Deere z950m I thinking of selling and going with this.
OKAY, We see that Fast and Furious Drifting!😂 Love your videos.
I got a little to carried away but had a great time. Thank you so much.
Okay, you’ve got us sold on it.
We currently have their string trimmer, hedge trimmer, and chain saw; This would be a nice addition.
We’ve been looking at them, being invested in the Ego line has definitely been a big factor.
Thank You for presenting an honest video, showing this mower in a real world environment.
You are so welcome. I think you will enjoy it very much. I love mine
I’m selling mine has 4 hours on it if you live near Oklahoma
@@hokagecuh
What don’t you like about it, or why are you selling it?
@@bobbikay2381 it was an impulsive buy i dont even have half an acre to mow
@@hokagecuh thanks for responding. Unfortunately we’re a bit of a way from Oklahoma.
Great video it helped a lot and funny video too 👍
Enjoyed watching, thanks! I’m genuinely impressed by the battery life. Since you were running it at max speed, I’m sure you could have cut the entire field on a lower speed. Plus, I’m assuming you were using the 4 batteries that came in it? With two additional batteries I have pretty high hopes that it could cover a solid 3 acres.
Ive never laughed harder at a demo video! Excellent! You have me sold. Did you buy from Lowes?? Dang thing is expensive!
Yes I bought mine at lowes but you can get it $500 cheaper on Amazon. I added a link in the description
Best down to earth, real world vids. Don’t worry on the vid quality. We are loving them. Would it be possible to
Charge the mower with some kind of solar set up?
I wish I knew more about solar than I do but I would imagine that it is very possible since it just plugs into a 110 outlet. Thank you for the compliment also.
Yes, solar generators. Ecoflow, Bluetti etc.
Kohler, Briggs, Kawasaki - all the zero turn engines seem to have their issues. Glad Ego came out with a solid product.
Great review, thanks!
Thank you for watching
I’m wondering if you can disconnect the headlights and get a little more out of it
Good review going fast eats the battery power. I'd like to see the company shorten the battery box and add a second sheet
Not sure what you mean by a second sheet.
Loved it! Have you had any issues with it over the time you’ve had the mower!
Ive had mine 2 seasons. I cut 1 1/2 acres. With 4x10ah and 2x5ah batteries it will almost cut it. "Up to" sort-of lets them off the hook but conditions would need to be ideal. Though maybe not ready for prime time, im relatively happy with it.
This video is one of the reasons I got the Z6 52"...no bullshit.
I believe ego has upgraded this mower to be available with not 4 batteries, but now has 6, and they are 12ah instead of 10ah. They increased blade to a 52" cut. Much more run time with the 6 12ah batteries. . I cant wait till I switch from Gas to battery.
Awesome video sir!
Well thank you so muc
@@cornbreadcreekfarm7458 just purchased a home on 1 acre so I think this thing will be perfect for me. Plus I already have the ego leave blower, weed trimmer, edger, and chainsaw so I am looking forward to sharing these bigger batteries across multiple tools !
@@555CTSV you are going to love it. One of the best purchases I have ever made
What amp hour size batteries was it using in this video?
I have to say, if the deck hasn't cracked with the terrain you run on, that is a positive thing about the deck. It looked pretty thin like a push mower deck. Not what I'm used to on a zero turn with fabricated 10 to 7 ga welded decks. With it lifted, it sounds like it still rattles pretty good.
I have not had any issues with it going on it’s second year now
It has lasted after that treatment. You did everything Ego says not to do. Too funny!@@cornbreadcreekfarm7458
I believe their 2 acre claim is based on using all 6 batteries. This mower looks like a monster 👍👍
You gotta love it when a Southern says..."Ha, Y'all watch this"😅
A year later, is it still kicking?
I see your land is flat, do you know what kind of incline it can handle? I'm asking for land that has some steep hills.
I did cut my sons yard and he has a mound with about a 45 degree angle where the storm shelter is and it did not have no trouble going up and holds back when going down the heel so you don’t go down to fast. I love it.
@@cornbreadcreekfarm7458 that's great, thanks.
With the high gas prices I'm about to get one and ride it to get me around town😂😂😂
I am thinking the exact same thing
What would be the break even time then? 15 years or so?
Any issues after a year?
How did you pay for it? All up front or finance? It says $78 a month for 84 months at Lowe’s.
Lowes credit card is at 28%
I’d like to see what difference the headlights make. Maybe not much.
That is not the headlights on function. When you turn the lights on it is super bright. That is the ego version of day running lights. Not sure why they thought a mower need that
The running lights can be turned off through the app. Not sure it would make much of a difference but worth a try.
i just bought one from Lowe's
Great
Thank you
There are many factors that impact battery life grass height thickness and height settings blade speed and mower speed and terrain
These would be ok for residential use for sure, with short or manicured grass, I have over 3 acres, some of which is Bahia grass, this mower wouldn't be able to handle it.
It would take 2 charges to cut your yard for sure.
@@cornbreadcreekfarm7458 i have a 40v weed trimmer and I love it, will never own another gas trimmer, I hope one day the technology will get better on the mowers, the batteries more affordable, I love the idea of it, but its just not practical for most larger acerrages of land...I have a 60" cut Dixie chopper now and its a job even with it.
I can pretty much guarantee grass type won't be a problem with the ego. I tested running over 4' grass with it, dirt monkey UA-cam channel has similar video on it. I'd say 2-3 charges, I'd suggest going for the 52" one over the 42".
I have 35 hilly acres I'm working on reclaiming...thorny brambles and small saplings everywhere. Been using an Ego hedge trimmer and self propel push mower mainly to handle the abuse, but a Z6 to keep what I've gotten done down. It will mow through tall, thick grass that hasn't been cut in years as long as you go slow enough. Yeah it will use battery faster, and this is a good way to find rocks and stumps and whatnot, which is why I prefer to let the smaller cheaper mower take the initial abuse, then keep it mowed with the Z6. Have a spare set or two of batteries and a bunch of smaller chargers to charge them while you're kowing with the other set, and you can mow pretty continuously.
full battery too
Thanks for watching
You need to consider your own weight aiding in draining battery also.
Thank you for your input
You have to consider, you can recharge your batteries.
You had your headlights on. That drains the battery
How many years will the battery last... 12.0AH battery ($500 * 6 ) = a new mower. I really would love this but $3000 every 4/5 years has me a little worried.
I am on my 3rd year and I can not tell that there is any loss so far.
@@perryfletcher3647 That is great to hear. Are you mowing all year round? I am in a colder climate so winters will be 20-30 degrees where the batteries are stored. I'd need to mow 2 acres during the summer so the 50" deck w/ 6 batteries is the option I am looking at for ego.
I generally mow from March to October
Looking to buy the 52 in as well. Cold winter in VA too, will probably store batteries in the garage if that is the recommendation
As much as I wanted to, I went with a toro
"I used it as a hair dryer one time and you see what happed". Lol!
Blew my hair right off.
Love the sound of my v twin Kawasaki
need a full battery sir last 7 hor
?
Why do you have the headlights on?
Legitimate question that others seem to be confused about also. The lights that are on is a EGO default compatible to day running lights on a vehicle. Not sure why they did it. However, that is not the lights on settling. When I actually hit the button to turn the lights on at night. They are bright and light up everything
Hello sir, I sent you an Email about your UA-cam channel did you get it?
I did
@@cornbreadcreekfarm7458 sir, when you free plz replied this
numer 100 battery
?
Keep in mind, you like I are big dudes, and our extra weight is going to drastically affect the runtime.
Warning: this video provides about 1.5 minutes of useful info in 40 minutes. If you really must watch it, put it on the highest playback speed available.
Of course it won’t cut the full two acres for you. Your probably over 300 pounds and you run the mower at its fastest speed. Blade speed also set to fast.
52' is $7000 ... for half that I can buy and a brand new gas mower. Very disappointed that the batteries don't last long enough to cut an entire lawn of short flat grass..
And over 10-20 years that the batteries will last, how much do you spend on gas, oil, belts, spark plugs, etc.? Depends on your source of power too - my power is solar, so the more I can use it for the more I make back out of my investment; no monthly bill, and no driving to a gas station. Also as shown in this video you can interchange the batteries with all other Ego tools. Oftentimes you can find discounts too. Lastly, he only had 4 out of 6 battery bays full. Add two more and get 50% more runtime, or throw in a mix of smaller batteries that came with other tools to use while the first set is charging on the chargers that came with the smaller tools. Lots of options...
Your comment is eight months old. I just bought (9/13/23) an Ego 52" at Lowe's in Lansing, MI for $5,999. $1,000 discount for ordering online. Free assembly and delivery too. Now I have to learn to run the thing. Some You Tube videos are scary because zero turns are dangerous on hills, and I have hills to mow. Practice, I guess.
@@caseyandginathese batteries last a few years of regular use and then you can buy more at 500 a pop. Holds 6 so up to 3k every few years for a mower. tons of posts out there about these batteries dying after 2 to 3 seasons.
If you insist on mowing that fast, you should of bought two extra batteries
Maybe turn off the lights? Duh.
7 hore sir
?
Get yourself some safer footwear. Nice video otherwise.
Yawn
You waste more time doing nothing.
