brilliant! I really enjoy Dragonbane, have finally read through everything on it, the rules, the bestiary, have poured over the map, and I think (for me) the biggest appeal is it's focus on roleplaying and not so much on crunchy dice rolls. Plus these videos here are super entertaining :)

On the 1st round the manticore has an initiative card of 5 and the mallard a card of 6 so why did he act first ?

Why did't the manticore use one of its actions to dodge...While I'm at it, why do monsters get a blanket Evade skill level of 15? Should a blundering giant also be so nimble on its feet.
IS Dragonbane "Deadly" though. Looking at the Quick-start, is seems to have the exact same Death Save Mechanic as D$D 5e ( along with a lot of other 5e mechanics ). That Death Save Mechanic is the biggest reason 5e characters are so hard to kill. Really, that's how D$D 5e hides the truth that it's a Narrative Focused RPG.
Death save mechanic is a relatively minor factor in making characters hard to kill. Ever increasing hp pool, trivial healing and lack of lasting injuries are main reasons of low death ratio in 5e.
While healing is relatively easy in Dragonbane, hitpoints are almost static, equal to characters CON. Which puts you in potential one-shot range against most monsters and beefier humanoids. Add to that the fact that monsters attacks autohit. and you need to spend your only action for the turn if you want to parry/dodge - and you'll see that party wipe is ever present danger in Dragonbane.
