- Our US tour ended in dramatic fashion with four goals, two red cards and - ultimately - a penalty shootout defeat in Washington DC.
We bossed the first half and went ahead when Alex Lacazette's penalty went in via both posts after Nacho was sent off for handling an effort on goal from our France striker.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled our lead, latching onto Lacazette's pass to go past goalkeeper Keylor Navas and fire a shot in off Sergio Ramos.

A fourth win from four tour games looked on the cards but the match turned when Sokratis was sent off for two yellow cards in the space of two minutes. Both decisions looked harsh.
Gareth Bale reduced the deficit for Real Madrid, prodding in from close range after the ball squirmed away from Emi Martinez's grasp under pressure from Marco Asensio.
It was Asensio himself who equalised, beating Martinez with a first-time effort from Marcelo's pass.
Calum Chambers had a shot kicked off the line and Eddie Nketiah missed a couple of late chances for us, while Martinez kept Madrid at bay with two good saves.
And so to penalties.
Reiss Nelson scored, Martinez saved from Bale, Thibaut Courtois denied Granit Xhaka and Isco made it 1-1. Bukayo Saka and Raphael Varane scored, but Nacho Monreal hit the post.
Junior scored to give Madrid the advantage, and Robbie Burton blazed over the bar to confirm our defeat.

This was my first Arsenal game because I live in America and can’t go to the ones in England... it was so amazing to see all these guys in person and I was lucky enough to be seated close to the field near the Arsenal bench.

@@shailevy9745 I'd say he's average, made to look good as our defence is terrible. If he's actually good he wouldn't be getting sent off all the time and make stupid challenges. I do agree that he's not bad but that still means we have 1 CB in the upcoming season. Let's be real here if we're serious about cementing ourselves as a top 4 club we need at least 3 centre backs...

I'm glad we have youngsters like Reiss Nelson. Eddie Nketiah isn't looking bad either. Hope they get a lot of first team chances this season, and I hope too that they prove themselves to be good with them.

What I got from watching the whole match. Willock bossed it, we were woeful in midfield once he came off. Xhaka looked like he hadn’t slept all week. Ozil disappeared again, a few backwards passing and some token tracking back but ultimately did nothing. Laca and Auba looking mighty sharp. Nketiah unlucky not to score but again, great positioning and play. Nelson needs another loan spell. And lastly, our defence is still an absolute joke! Sokratis showing he still has some lousy mistakes in him. Chambers, Jenkinson and Monreal not good enough. Kolasinac good going forward but can’t defend too and we won’t mention Mustafi.

This was my first Real Madrid game and luckily had Roa 1 behind the benches. It was awesome seeing these players live and up close. I was also lucky to get a picture and autograph from Asensio. It was sad seeing him get injured.

the thing is despite xhaka's mistakes, which are too regular, he's so important to our attack... almost all counter attacks which should have ended with a goal started with a fantastic xhaka pass...
finally somebody that sees whats up, now imagine if we had clinical wingers that can use those on a plate chances that xhaka creates and turns them into goals....
his mastiakes are not regular at all, they are also blown way out of proportion by the fans with an agenda against him. dont get me wrong, he does make the odd stupid mistake, but those are very rare. but every player makes standard mistakes like losing the ball etc. but for some reason most fans seem to ignore that fact.

Nah Xhaka is a great leader. The guy was captain of Monchengladbach at 18. He co captains Switzerland. Surely all those coaches can't be wrong. Plus in Europa final my man was the only one with a little professionalism about him and he made them shake hands with chelsea.
