Nice! So you just bought the ECU on its own? Did you have to buy anything else to install this? Also how straightforward is it to do the trigger calibration on a 3SGTE? What am I supposed to look at?
I'm pretty sure you done this install wrong. The socket bit gets installed into the side of the ECU casing, (not passed through). Then you'd have a port in the side of the ECU that the ECU-USB cable plugs into. The end unscrews off the socket end of the ECU-USB cable, the orange 'O' ring is the seal so it seals to your casing
I strongly recommend Link, they're great ECU's. Fortunately the great folks at KO racing just released a PNP for Gen 4 and Gen 5 ECU's. koracing.net/viewproduct.php?folder=42&product=1526
Hi, great video. I have noticed that check engine light in the instrument cluster doesn't light up when the ignition is turned on. Its been like this since the link stormx was installed. Is there a setting for this in the link software, or anything else we need to do so the check engine light works again? I am afraid that it can cause problems if its not working like MOT. The redtop beams (in my 91 mr2) are going to be tuned again after new catcams are installed so my tuner can look at this then. Not sure if it are needed or not with the link stormx, but if there is a way to get it to work I would like that.
@@d1zguy864 Thanks for your reply. My understanding is that this turned off by defult within the link software? And how did you sett it to light up during the cluster check as with the OEM ECU?
I recently just purchased a third gen 3sgte and it came with this ECU without the instructions. I have a check engine light how do I check it? I did it the traditionally way with the TE and E1 bridged and the light flashes five times slow then five times quick. I have a check engine light turns steady while driving unbridged now and I can't figure out what it is or how to read the codes.
To check the CEL on a Link, you'll need to plug the ECU into a laptop. You should have a USB cable coming out of the USB. You'll then need to download the PC Link software from Link's website.
I guess it all depends on your goals. I find the regular G4X plug and play more than sufficient for my needs, with plenty of upgrade room in the future for my goals.
I left it as boost referenced, so it always turns on at 10psi. My tuner did tune to take advantage of the extra fueling and cooling, however, it will work just fine without being tuned for it.
The connectors from my gen 2 to gen 3 patch harness did fit perfectly in the ECU and I'd imagine if someone had a gen 3 harness it also would fit perfectly in this exact ECU.
Thanks! I do believe Link makes a 3SGE ECU, but it's for the Altezza. I'm not sure if it will be plug and play in an MR2 harness though. You may want to send Link an email to see what they offer for your car.

Great video, really helped me out! Thanks
Thank you, I'm glad it helped!
Yo bro I just wanna say thanks to u I play tournaments in rust I started on your server I have won over 1k in scrims and stuff
That's great! Thanks for being part of the server and I hope you continue to keep winning!
Where did you install the IAT?

I swapped a 4th Gen 3sgte into my st202 celica, what aftermarket ecu would be best

@@FoulNews what link ecu would u recommend? It's still running 3sge ecu
@@COMET247 a G4X is what I'd recommend. The link that I posted comes with a G4X installed into a plug and play board.

Yes, there is

Yeaaaa buddy
Trunk Clips: I think you just take the tip of a small screwdriver or pen and push the center of those clips in a bit and then they will just pull out.
That's probably how to do it correctly. I just did the BRUTE FORCE and replace the clip method 😂

So to get rid of the Cel I have to go thru the lap top as well? I disconnectd the battery and the ECU fuse with no luck.
@@tommyhajimoto6968 yes, that's the best way to see the error code(s) and the best way to clear them.
@@FoulNews thank you.
@@tommyhajimoto6968 You're welcome! Best of luck with it!
Link g4x monsoon good enough for a gen4 3sgte you think? Any reason why you would go with higher end Link G4x storm?
I guess it all depends on your goals. I find the regular G4X plug and play more than sufficient for my needs, with plenty of upgrade room in the future for my goals.
When you did the meth injection on the 535 did you integrate into the dme or just run it as boost referenced? Did you tune for it specifically?
I left it as boost referenced, so it always turns on at 10psi. My tuner did tune to take advantage of the extra fueling and cooling, however, it will work just fine without being tuned for it.
did you run the onboard MAP sensor or an external sensor?
I'm actually using a factory Gen 3 3S-GTE MAP sensor. Eventually I will upgrade.
Also on this PNP, there's no internal MAP sensor unfortunately.
@@FoulNews I am getting g4 xtreme for my 2jzgte vvti, so i was wondering that is it better to use onboard MAP or buy an external MAP
@@arjunchaudhary3166 If that ECU comes with an on-board sensor, I'd use that.

how di you get the plug and play kit tho ?
atsracing.net carries the MR2-specific ones, as well as Evasivemotorsports and a few other retailers.
