    Hi there,
    I run a professional gardening company in the UK, and have dozens of these Stihl HL45's. A nicely paced and straightforward demonstration on a very necessary task. I also screw my blades to the bench after cutting my hands too many times whilst sharpening when I was younger.

    I don't remove my blades when I sharpen mine. I put it in a vice and use a 4inch grinder with a thin cutting disk and sharpen em

    Hey, hows it boss, had question.. On ECHO hedge trimmers they have a blade timing notch on the flywheel to properly time the machine; my question is, what do you go off of on the STIHL's, to preempt a weak blade stroke?

    I'd not sand the sap off. Turps and a Scotchbrite pad or blue Roloc, not sandpaper. Certainly brown Roloc for the sharpening and blue Roloc to clear sap off. Good otherwise.

    Nice tool set!!! Do you know which way to adjust the governor screw on a 5 hp briggs with the carb on top of the gas tank . It a 1991 craftsman chipper. I am not sure if you turn it clockwise to make it faster or the other way. Please tell me in simple type I am a disabled vet and they have me on morphine.

    Hey, on a HS 74 the blade lock will not release is it accessible right under the cover? Cute daughter hope she will be as handy as you in life.

    Cheers for the video quick question if you have a bent blade is there away to straightening them out again? Or am I better off swapping the blade over?

  • @puropadre

    Great and helpful video. Question: What grade Roloc disk are you using to sharpen the blade and where did you get it? I can't seem to find the "green" Roloc disks you use in the video. Thanks! Steve

    Thank you for this. Can you tell me if there is some rattle at the end of the blades on the HS45 because there is a play gap, can i use a thinner spacer to stop that rattle or it is new blade time?

    • @daveycrockett64
      @daveycrockett64 6 років тому +1

      You can thin down the spacers with a course oil stone, and get a bit more work out of it. You can use feeler gauge to measure how much needs to come off and micrometer check progress if you have them.
