Hi Mick, and PETE!! The fuel I agree was yuck, and it firing through the exhaust made me think timing. Garden machinery ignition coils are complex compared to cars, as so much is included which cars have space to fit in, and a few thousands of a second off can cause problems like that (there is a vid of a guy cutting a mower coil apart and showing what's inside(well worth the watch)). DM Chainsaws are brilliant. They have located obscure parts for machinery that's come in that I was able to repair and keep running because of the folk at DM Chainsaws.
I love the HS 45 with the short blade because its so lightweight so for the fine trim work or if I have to use a ladder thats perfect and yes, I use it commercially. For big stuff I got two HS 81 R, one with 60cm and one with 75cm blade. Heavy but raw power 😁
Grr! bloody Shenzen city junk! Here's a tip for those self tapping plastic screws, they have a habit of cross threading at any opertunity so I've got into the habit of always turning the screw anti clockwise until I hear or feel a click as the threads line up then winding them up! Since then I've had virtually no cross threaded plastic screws. Metal machine screws seem to find their own way but yes you can cross thread them too.
Though the Husqvarna 122HD60 is a far better machine, i've beat the living crap out of my HS45 for the last 12 years, and it still works like the day i bought it! It's downside is vibration and noise level! My favourite hedgecutter is most definitely the Husqvarna 522HDR75X, it's an absolute beast, and very reliable, quiet, and the anti vibe is excellent!
Brilliant video Mick. Well done. Obviously you know what you are doing by thinking the coil was faulty. How could I check if its any good or not? Is there a simple test by using a meter or plug spark tester. Impressed again mate. Cheers.
Thanks to you Mick I'm learning loads: will not start: check spark: check fuel and carb : check filter : no spark check coil and position setting. Getting there Mick. Keep videos coming - please !!

Shes a small engine dog lol

Mick, great analysis and solution! As much as we cringe at the prices, original parts invariably deliver original performance! Great call!
You are spot on..

Yeah mate DM are fantastic... Hope you are having a good day mate
Yeah, that was probably for a similar, but slightly different motor. Good call, Stihl motors are especially picky about coils.
Ta bill mate
