Is the boat of carvel construction? what building technique/material is most prevalent within the traditional fishing boats of cornwall? (i.e. st ives, falmouth etc.) thank you!
Yes carvel -one of many built in the 1970s or there about for the mackerel boom - at least that is my memory of what the skipper Chris Bean told me-hes owned from new. Think Falmouth built, certainly where repaired after sunk by boat going into it amidships full speed at night (see BBC website, famous story) In case you haven't found them, yr go to resource for UK building techniques is Edgar March's 2 vols: Sailing Drifters & Sailing Trawlers. Written in 50s, so you'll need to hunt!
