This one should be a lot harder to copy simply because of the materials it uses that are a pain in the bloody ass to make or get ( I work with said materials )
the hardest part of (reverse) engineering a jet engine is actually the materials lol, that's why Russia has trouble with engine longevity and China has trouble making anything work

Western fighters engines on average last between 4k to 5k hours before rebuild required Chinese WB10 engine which is upgraded copy of Russian RD93MD requires rebuild after 5k to 6K. In terms of running cost this is huge improvement and reasonable in manufacturing and materials tech.
Chinese have advantage of modern machine techniques and they philosophy of using purpose built machine tools and Automation.
In less then three years they have built 3600 miles of high quality Motorway network in Pakistan and that's fast scratch building through highest mountains deserts and hottest temperatures to coldest temperatures.
Underestimating Chinese technology is foolish, Over estimating and relieing Western technology is just just as foolish. Just think how many components in your cars TVs phones and computers are all manufactured in China. Not all tooling is made in China but a high percentage is. Just take long look at Chinese cities skylines and companies that manufacture there chances are the phone you use is made in China. Days of copying have long ended for Japan Korea and China.

The question I have is this: Are RR going to be allowed to produce the engine as they want (IE exceed almost all specs) or is some half witted bean counter who knows the cost of everything but the value of nothing going to get in the way like they did with Typhoon? The EJ200 was originally going to be 16,000 dry thrust not 13500 then there was a bean counting exercise and they decided to go with the cheaper engine. That's about another 0.15 mach worth of supercruise speed. IE Mach 1.65 with recessed 4 meteor and 4 ASRAAM (+ the bonuses for war and emergency thrust settings) . It would not have got so asthmatic above 60,000 either.

Not far off . We sold a top RR engine to the Soviets in 1950, then they reverse engineered it and put it in a thousand MiGs. They then shot the US Sabres clean out of the sky over Korea. The US was fuming when they heard what the Brits had done. Our response: 'Well we did offer it to you first. But no you were hell bent on putting your own lousy Pratt and Whitney engines in'. What can you do? We had to earn a crust.
there is no doubt that the best of these fighters is Tempest. Rolls Royce and Leonardo are the most advanced and technological systems in the world and will build the best fighters in the world..🇮🇹 🇸🇪 🇬🇧
As an American, who's a big advocate for the F-35. I have high hopes for the next gen Tempest.
With that many top companies working on tempest I'm confident it will be a very good fighter jet

Actually I think you can buy the power plants themselves so long as you're like a us or British citizen.
I know one of my uncles bought the power plants from a legacy FA-18 since he's building himself his own Avro Arrow.... He's got like a lot of money, and he apparently made a crap ton more thanks to the retards in Reddit, I'm not sure if you can buy them brand new but since the military sees no problem in selling them to you used I would think you probably could.

I'd say definitely, the higher the density of the air taken into a jet engine the more thrust can be delivered.
As the precooler has been successfully tested by REL, I think it would be silly not to.

Not really, this would have the ability to capture the heat generated by the engine and turn it into electrical power for the aircrafts sub systems thus eliminating the APU. The SABER is for high altitude hypersonic flight and even space travel in its closed cycle mode. SABER is a rocket engine which is not well suited for prolonged atmospheric flight with high Alpha maneuvers and what not like that of a fighter. A fighter would also be to large if carrying liquid hydrogen for fuel because of its density and need for massive amounts of insulation to prevent boil off. Although I could possibly see the tech being considered for a new SR-71 style plane or something but unfortunately those are no longer needed because of 🚀🛰.

@@MrRolnicek My afterburner comment was kind of a joke. Your right though, no AuxPwrUnit needed. No take-off to spin the APU so a more compact, lighter engine. If GE shares CMC tech, a much lighter engine. A few small batteries but I would guess "energy weapons" would use capacitors.

@@Kamina1703 it was a deal that didn't have universal approval, even in Government. The people who forced it through made two points 1) they added a clause to the contract that stated no military use, and 2) they were certain that by the time the Soviets eventually got around to reverse engineering and/or improving the engines, both Britain and the US would have already have aircraft far superior in active service. Korea showed that on the first point, they were at best naive, and on the second perhaps a combination of arrogance over western technological prowess, and an assumption that the Russians just weren't clever enough clouded their vision.
