    PSA: If you are conditionally approved for Global Entry and your appointment isn't until you get back from your next international trip, you may be able to do your interview at certain airports when you re-enter the US from your next international trip, and don't have to run to catch your next flight. Certain airports have on the spot interviews, and I took advantage of this. They even cancelled my in person interview, which was months away from the date I re-entered the country. You will not be able to rush out of customs and catch the next taxi or shuttle (there were 3 people ahead of me), but I scheduled the shuttle transfer for later, and it was worth it. I used the statement credit, but realistically, $100 is a monthly coffee budget for some people. I don't travel that much, but usually travel internationally and I think it is worth $100, even if I had to pay for it.

    I decided to get the Global Entry for some upcoming trips. From application to receiving the card took about 4 weeks. I drover three hours North to the DCA and waiting about an hour or so (I got there super early) and when they started the interviewing process it was less than 20 minutes, if that. By the time I walked out the door, I was told I was approved!! I hate taking my shoes off and unpacking my electronics! This feature alone is the reason why I signed up for Global Entry and it's worth the $100.00 for 5 years! Can't wait to use it!

    *Pro Tip* In my experience you can carry your Global Entry card, at the TSA pre-check line, give it to the TSA officer instead of your other ID, it is linked to your ticket. They put it into the machine done. Coming back through LAX there was a wireless logo on the kiosk, put down your Global Entry card, the camera takes a picture, the CBP officer calls your name, and tells you Welcome back to the United States. Your in. I do not remember using my passport. I was told by a CBP officer, "your Global Entry card is proof of citizenship", I assume, just for US citizens.
    So in my opinion carry and use your Global Entry card. Safe travels and be patient, and spread happiness while you travel. 😎

    I usually only fly a couple times a year, so I'm not sure I will pull the trigger yet. If that ups at all, TSA PreCheck sounds super nice!

    I went for Global Entry and tbh while it's expensive as a Brit (as we need to pay HM £42) before the $100 fee. It was totally worth it. Did an IoA at Dublin Airport and when I was flying home yesterday TSA precheck was an absolute breeze.

    Other bonus tip, if you already have a TWIC (transportation worker identification credential), then TSA precheck is already included as a perk. The only difference is you would use your TWIC CIN number, on the back of your TWIC card, in the KTN field on your reservation online. Or you could have the airline personnel add it for you at the airport so it’s on your boarding pass.

    I live in Michigan and have Nexus. It's get's you both GE and TSA and the short line to drive to Canada. Plus it's $50 for 5 years. You just need to live near the border.

  • @ganymedes62
    @ganymedes62 Рік тому

    A short comment on the Global Entry card, those are only given to US citizens and permanent residents. Foreign nationals do NOT receive that card, only the KTN / PASSID.
    Also, most airlines will allow you to add your KTN number after you've made your reservations. I.e., I booked my next flight to the US in late December, but at the time hadn't done my Global Entry interview yet. I managed to do an interview just 4 days ago and after being fully approved added my KTN to my booking information. So, if you don't have your KTN handy when booking a flight, you can usually add it on later.

    I have Pre check but the scanner did not like my belt and I had to take it off for my last trip, not a big deal. I'm now looking at other belts so I don't have to bother. Thanks for this video, going to sign up for Global Entry. Note about people not sure if its worth it for even pre check, at a small airport like mine its not needed, but if you're flying through O'Hare or a big airport their security lines get staggeringly long and I would def get pre check.

    Last month at Lga they shot the normal pre-check laying down for some reason it was like 25 minutes when it was normally like 5 min .. when we had to go to the general screening line, but showed your ticket and was given a paper to keep your shoes on.

    This was an incredibly easy experience. I applied for Global Entry on 5/1/24 at 3:35am. I was conditionally approved on 5/2/24. I immediately looked for an appointment to have the interview and there was an appointment on 5/3/24 at the Global Entry center at Orlando International Airport. But since the walk from the garage was very long, I checked Sanford Airport and they had an appointment on 5/10/24. I arrived early and they took me a few minutes early. My “interview” took 7 minutes. Just confirmed my name, address, place of work and my countries of visit since 2019. My fingerprints were taken and the officer gave me my KTN. By the time I got back my car I got an email and was approved. I was shocked at how easy and fast the entire experience was from beginning to end.

    Hi, I heard when you go through the global entry security line that you don’t need to take out your laptop, take off shoes and belt, or items(snacks) in your backpack or carry on even. That is super convenient and would be worth it to get global entry or tsa precheck. Thanks

    With Global Entry, do you have access to TSA Pre-check even if you’re traveling domestically? We were about to get pre-check, but may cancel it to get Global….

    Veterans that are 100% disabled are supposed to get free pre-check but nobody knows how to do it. When you ask about it at the interview they don't know what you're talking about but tell you about signing up for a credit card that has an annual membership fee of $100 or more. WTF?

    Why would you judge TSA Precheck vs. Global Entry based on whether or not you have a trip booked? Makes no sense. If you travel internationally even a few times in the 5 year time frame it makes total sense to go global entry IMO. The drawback with Global Entry is the enrollment sites.
