    Before night vision acquisition and targeting equipment, rats hugely benefitted from the night!
    It is particularly pleasing to see the meticulously precise marksmanship of the shooter, culling one after the other with well aimed, humane and painless, instantaneous kills!
    These are highly effective means to counter the health hazards and damage caused by rats.
    The 22 calibre pellets are certainly powerful enough for the task, and quite an economic means to reduce the rat population.

    Question from someone who's never hunted before:
    When a rat gets shot in the head and they start bouncing around and writhing, are they already dead and the body is involuntarily convulsing? Or is the movement after impact due to pain? Does it depend on where the rat was hit if it's one or the other? Genuinely curious.

    • @islandratbusters3470
      @islandratbusters3470  2 роки тому +21

      Hi Roy All the bouncing etc after being shot in the head is due to the nerves system shutting down as they are dead. A good shot to the heart and lungs does the same. Many thanks for watching

    • @Rowrowthegravyboat
      @Rowrowthegravyboat 2 роки тому +7

      It probably didn’t feel anything and as previously stated it’s the nervous system frantically shutting down cause it doesn’t know it’s dead yet. You will see a lot of hunters and pest controllers take head and vital shots because at most the critter may feel a slight pinch and die. Even on larger animals like deer if you hit them in the right place it’s quickly lights out.

    • @acheetah6762
      @acheetah6762 Рік тому +4

      since rats are very jumpy animals, i do believe they have alot of stored energy to take off so when they get shot and their nervous system shuts down, they twitch because their bodies are releasing all that energy

    • @bills6093
      @bills6093 Рік тому

      Yes, they are already dead and the extra shots are not really necessary. The muscles spasm because the brain is destroyed and no longer controlling them.

    • @Enishidono
      @Enishidono Рік тому +1

      I can guarantee it felt something. If a person commits suicide by shooting themselves in the head, instant death does not occur. It will have felt like a really hard punch to the head. But yes, the nervous system shutting down is why they twitch. Still a lot of electrical activity in the body that has to go somewhere

    There’s an interesting historical detail about rats. The Polynesian people spent hundreds of years locating every island in the pacific, as they travelled around in their outriggers. And whenever they went on a journey, they brought a cage of rats. The rats were placed on every island that they discovered. For them, releasing rats was like planting a flag.

    the estimation for the whole number of the rats in a place is "for each rat you see during the day you multiply by 100", if you see just 1 rat walking in a day, that means you have 100 rats hidden nearby. If you see 10 rats, you very probably have in your house a family of 1000 rats.

It then adjusts the cross hairs so we can aim dead centre without having to allow for holdover or holdunder. Thanks for the comment.

    What does this gun shoot...pellets or BB's? Sounds like it has a small silencer.

      @@islandratbusters3470 cool beans...the silencers were well. I have an old Crossman .22 pellet rifle, but a single shot. You can pump it up a maximum of 10 times. but when you pull the trigger and it shoots, it sounds like a .38 pistol. Did you make the silencers or buy them somewhere? If you bought them somewhere, could you tell me where?

    Great shooting but you may want to dial up the gauge to make sure you get the kill every time.
