- Started this one a year or so ago, but abandoned it because it wasn't working. So I used Nina Simone's Sinnerman for another video for the movie Drive, which was inspired by this 1978 movie. Took another stab at it and finished this one. This was director Walter Hill's second movie, after Hard Times, and followed by The Warriors and then his most famous movie, 48 Hrs.
The Driver starred Ryan O'Neal in the title role, with Isabelle Adjani as his accomplice and Bruce Dern as the detective obsessed with stopping him.
Movie also starred a Chevy C-10 Sidestep, a Pontiac Firebird and a Ford Galaxie 500 with a trunk that disappeared and reappeared several times before being shot away. Also featured persistent repeat appearances by a blue Chevelle with a white hard top and a blue Chevy Blazer with a white cap during both chase sequences.
I love it! One of the best car movies ever.

Thanks for the mention. Walter Hill had quite the streak going early on with Hard Times, The Driver, The Warriors, The Long Riders and 48 Hrs. I had started this video, but it wasn't working out, so I left it for a while then came back to it months later. When I hit a wall with this video, I took the music track and applied it to Drive, which was labeled as a rip-off of this movie. Although I would say Drive is more influenced by the James Caan movie Thief.
One of these days I'll get around to Ford V Ferrari.
