I was a teen ager when I saw this film for the first time and since then the chevy C/10 stepside has been my favorite truck. My first auto was a C/10 stepside and even thou I never drive it any more it is there in my garage for me to watch at moments like these. I can't remember how many times I did watch this film back then. thanks for posting it.
Such a classic car based iconic film, even though it’s an old film it’s still one of my favourite films to watch, including the amazing car chases and driving stunts .
@@enermaxstephens1051 you should do a tribute Firebird to the movie driver ......... I'm surprised the pick up Chevy C10 kept pace with the Firebird late 70s pick ups are light on the back end where's the Firebird Trans am would leave the Chevy truck way behind
Technical problems with this movie: (1) They used those giant Panavision cameras instead of the streamlined Arriflexes. (2) They used a brand new negative film stock that turned out to be a dud. (2) They believed that can shoot most of this with available light at nightime. End result: a very dark film.
1973 or 1974 C10, not a 1978. A close up of the grille shows a 454 emblem too. But sever scenes show a 3 speed on the column while a scene through the back window show a 4 speed on the floor (SM465) and a factory tach.
@@kevconnell5649 I noticed that too the first time I saw it if you have a good surround sound you can hear the truck has a tall cam in it the loping idle in the warehouse

I`ve got to find and build me a truck like this red 73 or74 Chevy ... The driving of this truck vs Trans Am was super. I wonder if a regular 350 w/4spd can be found these days? Anyway good chase movie
Since that red Chevy pickup had a 3 speed manual column shift I think the original motor was either a 250 inline 6 cylinder or a 307 V8 because if I'm not mistaking the models with manual column shifts only had the base size 6 cylinder & V8 motors.
Anybody else notice the passenger in the Trans Am is the same guy that was robbing a liquor store in the one dirty Harry movie where Clint drives a car through the front of the store
A C-10 is light in the rear (don't need big horsepower); if you know how to control a skid you got an advantage. Got a base engine, and no f**r ever best-ed me! C-10 was ROOSTER in playing chicken!
you just revealed your age :) Pause it at 1:37 or 1:38, see how narrow the pedals are? An automatic transmission has a wide brake pedal, like a rectangle. That one's a square, to make room for a clutch pedal and foot brake pedal. Maybe this particular truck had an automatic trans swapped in, going from brake pedal to gas pedal is how one launches an automatic but a clutch dump is how one launches a manual. Otherwise, you're right, its a typical truck 3 on the tree rather than 3-by-the-knee from the way he shifts it thru the other scenes.

Just love the sound of that chevy C10 when ryan drives it away, i do love a throaty V8 !! Beats electric 100%.❤❤
"I got no part in anything eltse."
"Goh hom."
Brilliant
Professional courtesy, from one driver to another. In reality, he's a murder witness.
Love that C10 Stepside. The sheer growl of it is awesome.
That was all just added in later.
@@enermaxstephens1051 like starsky and hutch Torino sounds gt40 shame they destroyed the Firebird 😁

Beautiful trucks and good useful and beautiful movies
The best part of old movies is that they are real scenes
O'Neal was GREAT as The Driver
What a great movie and great acting what on earth had happened to movie makers
Excellent! Simple story but very attractive cars chasing.
I'm looking for this movie to watch at home again...
Isabelle is Wonderful !
this scene has been heavily edited, lots of the chase etc missing
This movie inspired a Video game series called "DRIVER'.....and a Movie Challenge in "DRIVER:San Fransisco".
Hey isn't that the tunnel that was seen in Terminator 1 when Arnold is on that bike chasing Kyle and Sarah???
Yes, it is. The 2nd Street Tunnel. Blade Runner also had some shots done there.
They shoot a lot of movies in L.A.
yep. even the blue streets lights looks exact the same as was in Terminator

I noticed it went from floor change gears (shift) to coloumn change.. Still a good film glad some body else seen that

This C-10 is a manual shift on the steering column , isn't it ?
I love how those Fbodies Handle.
Feel like he let the driver kid go kinda as a gesture of the brotherhood 🚗
This chase scene was in driver sf
So much better than the F&F flicks no CGI all real stunt drivers .

almost done 74 chevy stepside full restored candy color

luckily, there are always empty cardboard boxes around for when you need some great car crashes...
That Chevy pickup seems a lot faster than usual.

Supposedly a 454 b4 They Detuned Them

That red Chevy pickup was so quick I thought at first it was Vin Diesel driving it. Lol
dual shift i guess its floor shift then hes shifting on the column

This Movie had a bigger impact than "Star Wars" the amount of car theft and complete complete destruction WOW
Exactly, he copped most of the chase out.
YOU CUT IT TOO MUCH----SHOW ALL OF IT
James Norton should play The Driver in a remake. I saw this car chase with my brother and cousins back in '91.
I like this chase scene better than Bullitt's.
Grew up on this movie. Loved the stepside ever sice. Never quite understood those goofy ass graphics on that T/A.
Adjani is just too hot to be real
He shot Colt SAA
This is a modern western
i love sloppy running
Pilotos de verdade com carros de verdade!!
1:55 Why Walter Hill so like when charachters plaing bully in his movies? They did it again in Red Heat
Everybody talks about the pickup, while the Trans Am is the cool one!
Being english, I wasn't sure if it was a Firebird or Camaro, basically same car different badge.

A 3 speed on the column lol. You know that's stock.
......HEY YOU FORGOT YER TRANS AM!!!
If there are only 2 pedals why is he shifting a column shift auto like a 3 on the tree?

Dropping the automatic down into L (Low).

excelente movie de acción, me gustan mucho las persecuciones de coches.
5* greetings.
play moroder chase 1978 to this '78 chase
very high quality. but poor edit.
Why would you edit this???
Why so edited ?????
Hay what is this witchcraft real cars real drivers.. Were is the fake cgi and Vín diesel pretending to drive while also pretending not to be gay..
i need popcorn.
Put your seatbelt on girlfriend!

Isabelle Yasmine Adjani respects because I can speak four languages.
Best parts of chase have been removed, So not worth watching this
Agreed, the uploader has butchered it.
forgot the parts where the truck switches from column shift, to floor shift, and back to column shift.
+amberlynn6914 The Chevy is a lot slower in that game.
Luckily they both filled up the gas tanks
