what is better? voice or subtitles? if you're watching this video the day it came out, check out my twitch where I'm losing my sanity in Doom Eternal. also I'm gonna be streaming on my birthday on the 19th of August, so come say hi!❤ twitch.tv/redeznt
I really liked this voiced commentary! You speak very well and are very educational, however, when you explained why you used subtitles, I immediately agreed with you. I feel like even though I definitely learned stuff from you this video, I spaced out a lot and wasn't really paying attention even though it was my intention to, I feel like these days with how much time we spend watching videos online, its very easy to just lose focus and have the video act as white noise, I can watch a whole 30 minute video and then come out forgetting everything because I wasn't truly paying attention. However, in your previous videos where I had to read text, I was forced to focus and pay attention because that is what reading makes you do, and so I ended up learning and thinking more because its like my brain was actually activated. It also made stuff more memorable, I could actually remember parts of the video when I read a certain thing and what you did. In the end im happy with either content, just my thoughts!
hey redeznt. you're great at coaching and you bring up really useful information no matter the format. that being said, it feels like text is better. it feels like when voice commentary comes into play, the information is not as well displayed, broken down and detailed as in text format, and i think that could be because sound is really important in overwatch, so when voice doesn't overlay on top of gameplay, one does not distract from the other. and also, when you display some description as text on screen, one has the opportunity to pause the video to consume and process the information at one's pace, without being hurried by the video playback, which i think makes its digestion more effective. ps: anyways, i don't mind listening to your sweet sweet voice occasionally ;) (no homo🗿) edit: you could sneak in segments like that paint edit explaining the corner advantage. i think voice over works nicely there when working at par with the didactic visuals
actually just play your favourite hero or the hero you're best at and play them even on unfavorable maps to learn then. one-tricking is really an answer
What a brilliant breakdown. I have to ask, upon explaining everything, are all these decisions you are making really coming to mind mid-game, or is it on post-analysis that you are making sense of the situation you played in?
@redeznt you are extremely skilled. I wish to reach diamond tank one day (currently p4) but i only play rein and monkey. Rein really struggles in so many games so I think I will try to prioritise monkey more, however monkey is very team dependant so I feel at a loss, because I truly do feel as though I'm playing at diamond level skill, but the fact I don't play other tanks as much is bringing me down 🥲
@@joewood3321thanks you for the kind words. reaching diamond ain't that hard, i promise you. focus on making less mistakes and playing more aggressively without feeding, and you'll get there 🤜🤛 winston and rein is a great duo of tanks to main
personally I like the text more when it comes to educational content, but I enjoy your way of narration as well so maybe there's some chiller content you could make that features your voice but keep the subtitles for the highly educational videos. I also feel like text is easier because if you go back in the video you don't end up in the middle of a monologue so it's easier to follow/rewatch certain sections.
the problem with subtitles is that you have to look down at the bottom of the screen which means you wont be able to see the gameplay and your thoughts at the same time also it would be interestinc to see a loss as well

Text, I retain more information when I read it
Voice is awesome 🎉 reminds me of those ml7 analytical gameplay videos
I think voice commentary really helps to process the information, this was super helpful and informative Id love to see more in this style!
awesome, thank you!
Your videos made me addicted to tank and overwatch 2
oh wow, THAT'S a compliment! thank you very much!

@redeznt thank you for the inspo! I think that plat is painful because the lack of coordination and comms. I'll get there soon enough ❤️

love the vids but I wish I could see the cooldowns on the bottom right
thanks! the cooldowns are not too important to be honest, but I'm considering other ways of placing the avatar on the screen
