- Опубліковано 24 лис 2024
- Are PC hardware prices about to skyrocket? In this video, I break down how Trump’s proposed tariffs could impact the cost of GPUs, CPUs, and other PC components. With tariffs as high as 60% on Chinese imports, prices on everything from gaming laptops to graphics cards are set to soar-not just in the U.S., but globally. We'll also explore how companies like Zotac are shifting production to dodge these tariffs and what this means for upcoming hardware like the RTX 50 series. Should you buy now or wait? Let’s discuss.

There's always an excuse to raise the cost. Nothing is getting cheaper, nothing ever will.
ppl in the usa are used to get cheaper pc hardware then the rest of the world
Now it'll be a good time to test the sweet 20% tax
Salaries, salaries are getting cheaper to pay for employers.
Nope things won't get cheaper but it's something calling price goes up slowly instead of fast the way he plans to do is to increase price fast up so it's not a excuse I think you need to read more into how this stuff works
USA: We are gonna establish high taxes for imports from china
Brazil: Those are rookie taxes ...
Yeah but I don't think most of the world knows about Brazil's taxes they still play mega drive and master system games because they are the only consoles built there.
Actually Brazil has lower by alot you actually don't know okey import taxes in Brazil is 30% USA will have 60% when comes to china how is that rookie numbers when it's double of what Brazil has
@@XeqtrM1 Bullshit. I live in this hell of a country and in anything that costs us 50+USD to import its a 100% tax rate on it and to put the final nail in the coffin you can even get double taxes on your stuff just because the customs want to.
if its too expensive stop buying. that way the companys have to adjust prices to consumers instead consumers to the companys....
Bingo. Don't buy the GPU's and prices will drop. Lower your settings. Don't bother with the poorly optimized woke filled garbage. Upgrading your GPU should be a last resort. Stop buying a new GPU every 1-2 years like a soyboy consoomer.
Play old games especially emulated retro games.
Got to stop buying hardware just for poorly optimized games. It's not that important I promise you

We must vote with our wallets or nothing EVER changes!!!
Buying increasingly more expensive hardware to play increasingly underwhelming and unfinished games.
Not sure about "they will become expensive" - "They are already expensive".
Myself and friends have gamed since the ZX Spectrum, we have had computers for many years. Now our computers are 7 to 15 years old and none of us want to pay for a new computer - that's a cost of an holiday. Gaming is not a hobby anymore, it's a luxury, it's like buying a top range car, top range TV. We are now looking at a console, a steam deck or even a laptop. Nvidia graphics cards are the cost of what we would pay for a computer. And the gaming industry is dire across the board, what games warrant the cost of these overly expensive cards - pay £600 + to play one game or a new game that comes out all buggy, unfinished and runs badly with no soul @ 60fps if you are lucky (depending on card but even the high end like a 5080 only has 16GB in 2024/25 @ what cost $1000+ ...really). No thanks. This gaming market is pricing people out in a time where everything is expensive.
The problem is that those d*mn GPU were tied to cryptos 5+ years ago, and now they are tied to AI which is even worse.
The other problem is the 3D graphic engine that constantly add "more stuff to calculate" renders 3080Ti useless, and soon the 4090 too. This has to stop imo.
4090 owners for the win 💲💲💲
@@redclaw72666 My hole computer doesn't even cost the price of that card. Even if I could afford that card, I would have a card sitting on it's own on my computer desk while I dream of what it would be like to have a computer around it.
AMD needs to release UDNA ASAP
I hear this a lot, but then I also see people putting together perfectly capable rigs for around $8-900. A 7600xt/7500f rig shouldnt cost more than $800 tops and that would be a great rig to run any game at medium settings without rt.
Gaming laptops getting nuked with those 46% tariffs, r.i.p lenovo.

As if Nvidia wasn't going to gouge us already. 😂 Buying a new GPU has become like owning the latest iPhone. Just skip the first wave and wait for the price drop unless you have that UA-camr money.
It wont drop.

Their not manufacturing any new 40 series after 50 series release so...

May not affect Australia directly, as we get most of our PC product directly from Asia. But if NVIDIA use a global pricing strategy, and raise ALL prices in a blanket fashion, then, yeah, we're fucked.
Well, Nvidia been steadily increasing prices for years, so expect 5000 series to be more expensive. Can't believe the 5090 will be at the same price as the 4090, and 5080 will be pricier than current 4080S, probably 1199US at launch.

@pf100andahalf Yes, the decent part is that if you own something, the delta out of pocket is usually mitigated and reflects more of the traditional average inflation rate out of pocket annually. So if you sell used hardware the put of pocket cost of new hardware is less of a drag on the wallet due to market conditions.
They have been too damn expensive for many years...anything further makes little difference.
Just got a 3090 for pretty cheap used, not gonna buy another GPU until prices come down to something reasonable
You will be waiting a long long time, lets see what happens to the 40 series when the 50s come out. These companies will look for any excuse to nickle and dime the consumer.
@silvertounge2099 i wasn't going to buy the next few generations anyway, this GPU is powerful, and the 24GB means that it won't be ever bottlenecked by VRAM
@M1szS yeah, I have a 2060. I want to upgrade to a 4060 TI 16gb ot 4070 super. I'm waiting to see if prices drop when the 50s come out seeing the stock is already in America, but I could buy that 4060 right now. I dont need the latest GPu. I dont mind staying at most two generations behind.
@@silvertounge2099 you can also try to find a used 3090 like I did, literally cheaper than a 4070 super, same performance and double the VRAM
The tariffs will suck on brand new tech. But I doubt the used market will be hit all that hard. So, you can still build a PC, but it won't most likely be the latest and greatest. Unless you can afford it.
We're fucked in Australia as well because one of our biggest banks is now talking about the possibility of further interest rate rises on mortgages due to the inflationary effect of Trump's tariffs. There was hope we would see cuts to the variable rate before Trump was re-elected. The saying "When the US sneezes the world catches a cold" sums this up perfectly.

With US Tariffs here in Europe we can get some stock :0

European residents have long been paying high prices for electronics.
In Poland (EU member) we pay 505 USD for 7800 XT (made by Acer) after tax (lowest price, other manufacturers have higher prices).
That is NOTHING, the price of the 7800XT in Bngladesh is 76k which is 630 USD

Even Pencils have 5 parts made in 5 foreign countries and are then assembled here in the US. That is 5 tariffs. On pencils.
I retired as VP of purchasing for Walmart. All tariff and import costs are passed to the consumer, in fact, if it costs 10% more to import, Walmart will charge 15-20% more. This is considered investment and profit must be made on investment.

@wulfone5961 there was unemployment before trade with China. Unemployment is not a new thing. That is stupid thinking.
@wulfone5961 everything you describe was ALREADY A PROBLEM before we opened trade with China/Asia. Its what happened when we were at war in Vietnam for a decade then brought the soldiers home, creating huge amounts of unemployment and inflation from war spending.
I think another thing people aren’t talking about as much is that these tariffs could end up getting watered down. We may not even see tariffs on electronics or just see them on certain electronics.
Finally someone with two fingers on their forehead and saw that the US will have prices worse than or equal to those in Europe...
High inflation is normally caused by government overspending

Just go to Canada or Mexico to buy it, or when you or a buddy travel to Asia, if you travel. You only buy a computer once every 2-5+ years.
I doubt he'll go along with tariffs, in this environment with inflation still running rampant adding additional tariff cost to everyday items will tank the economy at a faster rate.

Gpu prices have been ridiculous for years, and it's the crypto miners' fault. Don't blame trump.
Yea 4090 isnt already unneccessarily expensive..
The consumer market will just shift to another place.. globalization made this sort of laws a none issue. I live in South America and we don't have any company building stuff here, we have to import everything and EVERYTHING is TWICE the price you guys pay. A PS5 Base model? 925 USD! A PS5 Pro? 2035 USD! A 7800X3D? 610USD!
So we import and it's cheaper to buy from other places even with the high import fees we have.
Exactly, the hardware will just go elsewhere.

If I have to pay more for parts to help pay back the US national debt, bring jobs back to the United States, and stick it to companies who pay next to nothing for labor overseas ill do it. At some point we have to fight back against these companies for our national interest .
You dont underatand how a global market place works.. if tariffs worked and forced these companies back all countries would use them.. the only thing tarriffs do is put these companies out of business as they can no longer compete with companies from other countries that dont need to pay tarrifs.
That's just it though, it's not going to bring jobs to the US when there are still much cheaper alternatives overseas, and the only people getting "stuck" will be the US consumers. His plan is half-baked at best...
sure you do that. but why do the rest of the world has to suffer with you?
who went and made china into a manufacturing Colossus? it was you guys. and now you do desperate things to stop it? what kind of effed up logic is this?
There is no way paying that debt down. $120 trillion total debt and liabilities.
Trump’s policies from 2016-2020 sky rocketed national debt. The tariffs will only hurt consumers, not companies. If trump wanted to hurt companies he’d be breaking apart these tech giants to promote competition, but he’s pro oligarchy so it’ll never happen.
i'm glad i just upgraded my rig in 2023 christmas...
i mean, i'm from Europe, so idk how this will affect me...
People just don’t think about things from the big picture. Yes they may increase but at the same time IF nvidia, amd, etc make facilitys in the US prices will drop significantly while also help bring us out of debt and economy while not taxing citizens. Electronis are not a necessity I would much rather be able to afford food than a brand new pc.
I agree, the problem is people can't see themselves in the mirror. Education is lost to said people.
and what will make the prices drop exactly? nvidia has 50% + margins as it is they could already drop prices and still make a profit but they dont they keep increasing prices to get higher margins. making the gpus in the usa wont make them drop prices.
electronics are not a necessity? every business has tons of pcs everywhere, and tons of sensors, edge computers, servers and whatnot. Consumer gaming PC may not be the priority, but if you stop server farms the US economy is dead overnight.
NVidia has no reason to drop prices even if they bring production to the US. The value of our dollar will change, and at the end of the day Nvidia needs to keep their investors happy. This will not have the effect you are thinking of, and your thinking is wishful at best.
@@liberteus Companies can afford the increased costs of the tariffs, they'll just pass the cost of doing business onto the consumer anyways. They'll be fine. Electronics are not a priority for private citizens.
Reminder, there is no shortage its just tariff, market will adjust it self (probably the governments will chip into Nvidia's profit that's all).
Another reminder, $1200 4080 (normal) was sitting on shelves as no one was buying them hence the $200 reduction for the 4080 Super.
Basically American folks will pay as much as Indians for the same product India has 18%
How about if you are worried about that extra 3 hundred buck - you have no business buying it
Im afraid you dont understand how this really all works, but i dont blame you most ppl dont...
Nvidia price gouged when you could mine crypto. What is their excuse now?
It could also be that if the USA can ramp up manufacturing that things may stabilize. What I did though was last year I hit Black Friday sales and got my stuff cheaper.
As far as gpus there are some deals at the moment, such as a 6800xt for 350 on Newegg. Plus there will always be the used market as some upgrade. Regarding cpu etc, I’m guilty as well but we need to realize those things tend to last longer than 2-3 years so we may not need to upgrade those components so often.
But if they can get some of the chip manufacturing up and running in the USA, long term it may work out better. Just may be a bit of pain while we get there unfortunately.
But consider the current political situation in the pacific region now. Most of our chip production comes from Taiwan. Should something happen in that area of the world, the USA could be up a proverbial creek without a paddle.
Thing we already ARE building more chip factories,ETC. problem being those got passed in 2022 and I believe only one is barely getting finished up or finished in texas. We still have many that won’t be finished till trump is already out of office so it won’t matter in that sense.
Companies won't create local American factories to produce goods, at most an assembly plant.

As soon as the 5090 drops i`m going to get it and enjoy a full 2 years of having the fastest card.
Producers should sell for US with tariffs in mind, let Americans pay the tariffs which their own president introduced (will introduce). Why the entire world must now suffer higher prices because there are tariffs in US? I don't care about tariffs in US. I'm not a citizen of USA and i don't wanna hear another bullcrap price hikes of already overpriced goods.
I am From EU So i dont care. Atleast they will have same prices like we in eu and pretty much everywhere outside USA.
not if nvidia factors in the tarrif in the base cost of the gpus. ie you price will go up the same if not more than usa prices. say they sell the 5090 at 2000usd and that includes the tarrif factored in do you think your price will be less than 2000usd + what ever your conversion and taxes are...
40% upcharge because price matching + VAT about go crazy 💀
Right now there are whole warehouses in the US being filled with Nvidia 5000 series in order to circumvent tariff. Everything that is produced now is probably routed to the US now, so no other market will have new GPU until tariffs come into place.
Worst case: If Trump is just threatening and bluffing, then all new GPUs may be sent to the US and basically nowhere else until US market is partially satiated (i.e we wont get new GPU before mid 2025 elsewhere).. It''s very smart because the mere threat guarantees the US are served first.
they might circumvent tariffs for now, but we shouldn't think for a minute anyone is gonna pass on those savings to the consumer. It's probaly going to be cheaper to fly to Taiwan or China to buy your next Lappy from there, lol
Just like with the 9800X3D. There were loads of them sent to US warehouses. Almost none here in Canada.

America is too big a market cap to not sell here, we still have the strongest dollar despite our economy and capitalism allows people to spend as much to their hearts desire. the issues isnt Tariffs and whether or not Companies will move back to America with lower taxes and more benefits to offset the cost. the issue is will China allow it without setting the world on fire because their slave labor depends on the American machine, their goal of world domination depends on cheap labor and funding the world with cheap material and theft of designs.
Europe/China/japan, etc tax and tariffs American products heavily to the point they aren't sold there or cant be sold there without steep cost to the company and consumer, but when Trump wants fair trade and not one sided trade. suddenly the world is in up roar they cant keep punching the money bag and many spoiled and privileged Americans cry because they either hate the guy or hate they will have 'temporary' inconveniences to their first world life styles. Much of Europe cant even function without US backing, China would be hit heavily in a trade war with the US but only surviving because they have their hands in every Chinese company pocket book and cheap labor to the point of slavery. These companies have been price gouging since the pandemic, they will never lower prices and its already expected and predicted that prices will do nothing but increase with time. just more excuses to raise prices without getting the backlash.
This not even related to Tech but the fact Autozone is saying they will have to increases prices before the tariffs (if we know where they will be applied) are even written up. so your telling me a cheap Chinese made part that possible cost you 85 dollars to make and ship that you already sell for 325! an it will increase even mooooore, oh no!
China already has Tariffs applied to them from both the Trump and Biden administration, there wasn't any inflation or dramatic price increases when Trump was in a trade war with China in 2016, why suddenly now is fair trade bad.
I advised friends, family, and everyone else who listened to get their electronics in 2024. Things will get very, very, VERY bad. Especially if you're European.
Yeah it'll likely be more expensive but the tariffs will help hedge against inflation and help distribute money more even instead of everything going to the rich. Eventually the innovation should catch up with price. Do you really want the largest tech company producing products overseas for pennies and selling to more wealthy nations for hundreds or thousands of percentage mark up.

Not sure why everyones need to have the latest thing.
I went from 970 to 3070 and so far i havnt had a single problem getting 60+ fps on latest games on ultra at 1080p.
If anything I may just get a 4080 super to go 1440p once 5000 series come out
So you play solitaire? Try maxing ue5 titles with that pos 3070😂😂
A lot of triple A games these days aren't worth your time or just have performance problems even with a 4090. STALKER 2 just released and it's buggy as shit with UE5.

Make America GPUs Again!
There are two options.
1. Stop gaming
2. Make more money
It’s that simple.
PC gaming is a luxury activity. You’re not going to die without the newest PC parts.
We should stop gaming because of all this shit? I think that's unfair for PC gamers who just want to game and be able to afford decent gaming hardware at reasonable prices.
3rd option keep gaming and dont buy new gpus or new games. the only reason we need to buy new gpus is either ours breaks or new games. theres zero reason to buy a new gpu for the games we already play and theres plenty of games out to last a lifetime.
OP, so sick of your kind.
Clickbait title.
I guess the current $1700+ for a 4090 is not expensive.
pc prices already through the roof in africa for the price of a 4090 i could buy a budget car
Espcially in south africa bro🤦🏿
With this tax prices of electronic will match or still be a bit cheaper than in Europe
who said europe prices wont increase. also prices in europe compared to north america are missleading since your prices include taxes on the price tag where as american prices dont and tax is added at checkout/cash register.
@@Eric-ct2ri In my shit country I make at best 18k USD a year after tax and pc parts are more expensive even if you add tax on your prices
I'm going to take your advice.
Nothing to really lose. Take advantage of the extended return policies
@@DannyzReviews I forgot to mention: thanks for the video.
Your view is selfish and short sighted. 'I don't care about my children just give me a cheap gpu' .
I'll pay extra for 5 or 10 years to bring production back to the us. Your mindset is the reason the uas is in the position its in.
your the one that selfish thinking the world revolves around the usa.
No, he is not. And you are in this position because of the global free market which the US helped to create. Everything was fine and dandy until the market didn't work in their favor anymore. Companies went to China and Taiwan because it allowed cheaper production as well as higher profit margins. You think you can live with higher prices, but you won't if it's not reflected by higher wages as well. Then these companies have to export to the world from the US, and they will have to do that with US-based unit costs in mind. For them, it would be very illogical to forego the profits they once earned. So you will have to pay those companies subsidies, give them tax breaks, grants and reductions, and also political influence. Why would a company move from Taiwan to the US when they have specialized fabs, skilled workers and industrial expertise, and almost all the bonuses from the government that they won't have in the US?
@@ArmchairMagpie Stop thinking like such a globalist, you don't always need to buy the latest tech. This is a negotiation tactic by Trump to increase American jobs while lowering our taxes.
Your view is the one that is selfish and shortsighted all these tariffs will do is introduce a higher cost on the everyday consumers while probably forcing china to actually retaliate with it's own set of restrictions in sectors that are more relevant, it's also been proven time and time again that made in the USA simply costs way too much hence why most major factories for tech/tools are not locally located it's people like you who make things worst for the upcoming generation by ensuring prices go up and stay up because you can't see past the first block
Make Ireland Great Again. Lower taxes and lot less political BS. Many MNCs have already established their bases in Ireland.
I returned to old games its plenty what I don't played ....
That sucks. But I'm just not ready to upgrade from my i7-920 w/1050 ti yet.
These tariffs are going to SERIOUSLY increase the rate of smuggling! Yes, I do believe that many companies will actually hire SMUGGLERS to circumvent Donald Trump's tariffs! Yes, high tariffs are one reason why people turn to smuggling!
GOOD! The more expensive the less you will build a machine every other week!
it not going to be that bad it did fine last time he was in lol nothing will change lmao
So they stop making things in China.
China isnt the only country in Asia where PC electronics are made. And during COVID they spun up a lot of those factories to help meet demands.
Everything that comes into the US has taxes and tariffs added to it. This, in some ways, simplifies the current tax and tarrif structure.
The current systems we have in place with China is a mess. Thats why we see shoes with felt on the bottom of them, because that makes them a "slipper", and avoids tax.
The "worked material" clauses are also way out of whack.
Basically i am saying all of that to say this...
This is fearmongering, you are out of your depth, and being a mouthpiece for FUD. You are not an economic expert, and certainly don't understand international trade.
To be honest, wouldnt be stupid to release the 5060 at 500-600$ knowing it will only beat the 4060 Ti at best?.
This is idiotic, lots of people thinking they know anything about anything.
Orange man is so fu$king right😊 now
Good. set up manufacturing in the US
you think its good but prices wont go down even if they do since the customer will be acustumed to the higher prices so they will keep prices high and even increase them more. also labor in the us is also more expensive soo that also will inturn make the prices go up they will also have to build the manufacturing infrastructure soo thats going to cost money and wont be done over night it will likely take a while.
@@Eric-ct2ri You're thinking like a true globalist.
Good luck with that. The Foxconn plant that was set to go into construction in Wisconsin 7 years ago laid an egg.
@@AngelicRequiemX its common sense. they make the gpus in other places cause its cheaper to make and they make more profit thatway. if they bring the manufacturing to the usa they will want to keep the same profits thus increasing prices since the costs will be higher.
@@Eric-ct2ri Then the consumer needs to fight back and not feel compelled to buy overexpensive new tech until margins come down to a more reasonable level.
It's up to the market to dictate prices, not the corporations. If prices stay high, it's only because people have enough money to spend to keep the prices high despite inflation.
He forgot to mention high cost of human resources in the USA so the result of moving production to the US homeland would no way reduce prices even if it would avoid so loudly shouted tariffs.
US people won't work for "cup of rice". There is alot of other costs in China which USA was and is making profit from.
Moving production to the USA would cut high profit from USA HQ (based) HW companies like AMD or Nvidia or even Intel and as result would bring less taxes to US budget.
It would also rip US senior rentier funds which got trilions in Chinese stock.
The result would be poorer US so less purchase power so less income to public funds in good taxes.
Trump is working in double edge economy environment he can't get anything good as result.
His tariffs tools are only good as threat to gain short term profit.
Sure, if it happens, enjoy 5-10y double digit percent increase in HW cost.
Btw China is big HW market now so putting tariffs on US import, hmm😅.
Maybe I am getting it all wrong but I am curious how it ends up.
I voted for trump, but tariffs don't work
a tariff is a tax the seller can avoid by selling to someone outside of the effected country
tariffs don't incentivize businesses to build inside the effected country without a corresponding decrease in taxes and regulations; which is what causes production outsourcing in the first place (due to complex manufacturing becoming cost prohibitive)
therefore the result of tariffs will be: massive inventory shortages and a dramatic increase in the prices of available (effected) consumer goods
You’re an 🫏🕳️ for voting Trump - period.
Prices were good first administration they should be good this one too. The prices will not hike, and if they do itll be very temporary until they start making everything here
I see it this way. People will start looking for used goods once they'll realize everything got more expensive "in instance, just like that" (after tariffs) there will be greater demand for used goods and so people will start selling for higher prices, or people will bid to higher prices, because the new thing is so much more expensive, so what can you do...
Stupid and naive
Simple. don't buy it until they make it in the USA.
Simple-minded OP
yeah lemme just wait like 10-20 years for the US to develop the chips manufacturing that Taiwan has. 😒
