Best how to change Fuel Filter! cut and dry and clear instructions. Thank you.
Glad it helped
This video was a step by step process and it really helped me out with my FordF150.! Thx!!
PERFECT VIDEO DUDE. TOOK ALL OF 5 MINS AND TWO TABLESPOONS OF FUEL ON THE GROUND. FILTER SIDE OF THE OLD FILTER WAS ALMOST BLACK COMING OUT OF THERE. A FEW MORE MILES THAN 30K ID SAY...THANKS AND ALL PRO USA!!
Happy it helped
Thanks sir got it done because of you much appreciated 👍.
Glad it helped!
Thank you I have subscribed just for this video
Awsome video. I still cant get the damn lines off even with the tool. Gunna have to take it to a buddies who has a lift and see if i can get some better leverage standing up instead of laying down.
I’m lucky and live in California where the lines don’t rust so bad but in other areas they can be a real pain.
Can you pop those lines off without a fuel line tool or is it essential? Thanks
amzn.to/2rsKnJ6 < yes you need the tool, its only $ 7 on Amazon
I got one. Thanks
you got to have the tool
What if you have a full tank of gas? Will it matter?
A squirrel chewed through my line to the left of where he's connecting the filter.
Great video
I just changed my fuel filter, thank you very much....
Thanks for the video. Very helpful.
A squirrel chewed right through my fuel hose. It's right where the blue hose shield meets the connector fitting going into left side of the fuel filter. Any ideas on what I can do.
That happened to me on a different car. You have to replace the whole line
Should you use a little grease on that tool that you use to pull the hose off of the filter?
Not needed
I noticed in some videos that the the fuel line pressure is not released before disconnecting the fuel filter,is that step not necessary ?
It’s better to release the fuel pressure if you don’t you make way more of a mess
@@KalleSWBeck Thanks
It's pretty standard to pull the fuel pump relay fuse and release the fuel pressure by running until it stalls, then a few more cranks to drain to just a trickle.. otherwise will be fighting the pressure, plus the quick connects..which are not much fun all by themselves...
Very detail video , last time I had my gas filter replace it cost me $107 . Bought the filter last night $ 18 and the disconnect tool for $9.Anyhow thanks
Good deal man!
Do you have to empty all of the fuel from the tank before replacing?
No
Definitely not!
Good idea to pull the fuel pump relay fuse and relieve the fuel pressure by cranking it until it stalls, then a few more cranks.. didn't hear that mentioned at all
That is a good idea I just did it dirty 😅
My filter is super super rusted. Im afraid to try and change it because I dont wanna break off the piece inside the fitting. Have you ever seen this before? What should I do if that happens?
I live in California so no I haven’t 😬
Is there no real depressurization process? I changed one out in my 89 gmc jimmy in the parking lot years as go without de -pressurizing it worked fine no explosion, but ive heard people say something about doing it to a 98 f150. Is that true? And if so could i just open the gas cap instead of doing weird under the hood fuel pressurizing crap?
There is but I skipped it and you can see how it went
@@KalleSWBeck what did you do to depressurize?
I didn’t, it’s recommended though
@@KalleSWBeck doesnt matter now, i blew a head gasket smh. Wasnt the fuel filter i guess. Oh well, trial and error makes you wiser!!
4.2? It can happen :( sorry to hear
I bought that tool you recommended I had to use that today on the connection closest to the The engine but the other line on the other side on my truck was just a little plastic clip you could push up with your fingers to disconnect the line and that tool wouldn't have worked on that side. Not sure why mine is like that. I have a 2003 f150 7700 with the 5.4. also the big metal clip you pushed down on I only have one of those to and it was on the line closest to the engine
Maybe the 7700 is a bit different?
Well isn’t that about a bitch lol, my fuel filter lines don’t have as near as much space that yours has! The same tool you are using I used and it gets stuck in the the circular middle mold! Any idea why I have such little space to fit the tool? I can’t seem to tug back on it to get that 1/4 inch space, it’ll only move forward once in a great while and stuck in place the others...
The tool comes in different sizes? Make sure you have the right one.
True, had the 5/16 but my lines were closer to the filter than yours. So no way I could use the metal. But just got mine on today. Used the plastic yellow 5/16, sanded it down plus used pb blaster and bam
I've tried to remove the fuel lines from this filter for an hour. Used the tool, pry bar, not budging. Whoever designed this should be kicked right in the sack!!
Taking it to a mechanic
NO , they need frontal lobotomy!!!! Any of these people that design all these new vehicles need to have to work on "their better ideas" AND mean ALL brands of vehicles not just ford's. I kick myself for trading off my 1985 f150 for this piece of metal !
It’s really not hard
It took me about 20 minutes of jiggling and forcing to get it off
Does the filter cause the gas station pump to shut off
No that would be from air in the tank it has to be purged
Kalle Beck how do I do that
Google getting air out of the gas tank f150 it’s different for every car
Did you depressurize the fuel line before you changed that?
I didn’t on this but just did on my new Silverado doing the same job and it didn’t leak out as much fuel
I'd do some of these videos on auto repair but you tube would censor them for vile and violent content.
Sounds like you should post them on tiktok
They would do that to me also.
Who designed this why not keep things simple --2 clamps and simple rubber hoses like just a few years ago.
Those rubber lines fail over time and don’t hold up to the high pressure needed for modern fuel injection.
My Chevy has a much simpler design though
Because it is all about corporate greed . There actually laws against repairing some vehicles , tractors , etc .
Didn't hear anything about reducing the fuel pressure on a hot engine? One manual said disconnect power to the pump and run your engine to dissipate all fuel pressure. You could also go to the fuse box and some have pulled the fuse. This video totally ignores this crucial issue.
I've had the honor of being under a truck that did not have the pressure bled off. Got gas in my ear and face. Not something I will ever forget. That happened on a hot engine that had not sat for awhile. Seems as though the pressure bleeds off the longer the truck sits after running, but to be safe, I'd talk about bleeding off the pressure.
Looking forward to your video
