Although Capital One doesn't have domestic transfer partners, you can still book domestic airlines using airline alliances. Delta belongs to Skyteam, so you could transfer to Air France/KLM, and book a Delta flight through them, you can use Turkish to book United, and British Airways to book American. Granted, redemptions can be hit or miss with these, and availability may not be there, but it is possible, sometimes for a much lower price. My wife and I just went to Hawaii using Turkish Airlines and United. It only cost us 15k Turkish Airlines miles for a roundtrip. I think for United, it was 25k one way
Turkish is incredible to use for domestic United flights. A one-way domestic economy flight costs 10k miles, whether it’s as short as IAD-PHL or as long as EWR-HNL (domestic business class only costs 15k miles, but availability is VERY hard to come by).
Thanks! I'm glad it works for the way you understand it! You wouldn't believe how many double/tripple takes it is to get it right for the video that goes out 😑
I think the biggest thing with miles is you have to be insanely flexible to use them. You can't plan a vacation and have 150k points sitting and expect to use them on that specific date. If you want to use points for flights, then your trip will be dictated by the points rather than by your dates. I learned that over multiple trips where we had specific date ranges we had to travel and there were no award seats ever available for those routes on those dates on ANY of the partners they have. So while in theory it's nice to have them, it's also very hard to use them on international long-haul trips and we've started using them on the cheaper short haul flights around the US which has still saved us a ton of money. For example we took a trip on Delta with 30k Virgin Atlantic points which is equal to $300 cashback but the flight roundtrip on Delta was $850, or 80,000 Delta miles. In the end we came out way ahead and that negated our annual fee just from that trip alone. And the reward seats were available months and months out because it was a domestic short haul flight.
Since the Venture and the Venture X cards have the same welcome bonus for the same minimum spend, would you recommend getting the Venture card before the Venture X card, and then upgrading it after the Venture card’s first anniversary?
Great question, and yes you could do that. What I might try to do is a variation of that plan though: 1. get the Venture Rewards card (75,000 SUB) 2. wait a year, then try to product change it to the $0 AF VentureOne Rewards or Quicksilver Rewards. 3. apply for the Venture X card (75,000 SUB) In this strategy you still end up in the same place, but now have an additional $750 in SUB value which is pretty powerful. Capital One can be pretty unpredictable with their downgrade options though, so you may have to stick with your original plan if they don't offer you any after one year. Let me know what you decide to do! 👍🏼
Excellent and very informative video. I am planning to apply for this Venture X card. So if I get approved and apply for authorized users (wife and daughter), do they need to apply for their own Priority Passes? And their own Global Entry Passes? I understand that there are no fees involved to have authorized users and priority passes but what about for the Global Entry Pass? Is it going to be a $300 credit for the three of us? Many thanks.
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it! Once you add your wife and daughter as authorized users and get them their cards, they'll apply for their own Priority Passes. Similarly, they'll need to sign up for their own Global Entry passes but unfortunately from my experience, Capital One will only cover $100 TOTAL for this, not for each authorized user. I tried this with my wife when signing up for TSA Precheck which cost $78 for each of us and Capital One only covered one of the purchases. I hope you have some better luck than I did! P.s. When you go to apply, if you feel like supporting the channel, it would be greatly appreciated if you used the following link. No pressure either way! rdguarantee.link/Capital-One-Venture-X
@@TheRDGuarantee, I really want to get on flights with JetBlue. Capital One does not transfer to them. It was either the Chase Trifecta or Citi. I'll use Citi as my primary cards, which covers almost all my essentials. Capital One is more travel friendly, however, which I will miss out on early on.
@alexito4329 My original plan was to pair Citi cards with a JetBlue card, but plans changed when JetBlue dropped South America flights. This card is still a good option, but finding more value, at the moment, with WF cards.
I got my venture x card 10 days ago and am still not able to get access to my priority pass account. Is this a common occurrence that you have noticed as well?
Access it or get the card in the mail? I can only speak from personal experience, but I was able to access mine about 3-4 days after receiving the VX in the mail. I would contact C1 customer support if you still can't connect your Capital One account to Priority Pass.
I received my VX over a year ago and it took about 7 days give or take. I think that should be available soon but agree that calling C1 or PP afterwards is your best course of action.
I meant I have not been able to enroll into priority pass despite having gotten the card 10 days ago. The website says give it 1-2 weeks after receiving the card to be able to enroll into PP but seems like most people get access to it much sooner. I’ll check in with C1 for sure! Thank you for your replies!
@@rehaanpradhan1350 sure thing, it moves pretty quickly and C1 customer service is pretty helpful. You will definitely be able to access the PP through your digital wallet before the physical pass arrives. Best of luck, and if you have never had lounge access before it is a game changer, enjoy!😀
I'm waiting for my card to be delivered. I won't have to do anything for a priority pass, and they will just send me a card? or is there a certain process I need to go through first?
Congrats on the new card! You will need to activate Priority Pass. Once your card is delivered and active, go into your Capital One app, hit "Benefits" on the bottom, and find "Priority Pass Membership" on that list. From there, it lets you enroll!
How does one tell cap 1 that even if I had a phone I would not give them the number. My email and snail mal addresses have worked fine for all the crap they say a phone can provide me for the last thirty years. I would appreciate it if they would stop harassing me for one.

Odd compliment, but I like the pace at which you speak. Many other UA-camrs talk a little too fast, and that affects my understanding sometimes.

Double that. Please make more videos
As a former AmEx Platinum Card holder, I can justify this cards' annual fee a lot easier and it's worth it. Great video!
They don't make it hard to keep in your wallet - that's for sure.

Great video. I've had the card for over a year now and you're spot on with your facts.
That's awesome! Glad to hear you see it the way I do - especially coming from a vet!
Thank you for explaining the double dipping option. I watched others explain it but you made it understandable. 👍🏻
Awesome! Glad it makes sense now
Chase interface is actually the smoothest and easiest interface to use
Exited to have venture x,savor one, CSP and freedom unlimited as a set up
No flex?
@@Kyle_Davis011 I just went with Chase instead of c1

Missed opportunity to have the title to being a Capital One Venture “X-pert”
🥲
Hey All,
These are the most important takeaways I've learned from working with the Venture X. I hope you enjoy.

Are card holders still able to enter the plaza premium lounges?
Yes!
This card is really fantastic. Unfortunately it does not fit in with my own travel plan, which is a bummer!
What one did you go for / are thinking about instead?

Elaborate if you don’t mind
@TheRDGuarantee At the moment I'm still a bit undecided, but Wells Fargo is catching my eye

It's not a travel credit, you have to prepay $300 to the portal every year
exactly
