I just love the choices they made here. Rob's voice is a little thinner and quieter than most Seymours, but Lena just absolutely belted the sh*t out of it anyway...and it works.
I've never seen Audrey portrayed quite like this its very uniquely clear thats shes like idk how to say it but like from the streets. Like in that world growing up thinking she'll never be anything and putting up walls to protect herself and she plays it a lot less softly like others. Not so much naivety but more learned helplessness.
Well said. I love Lena Hall and was excited to find this. I knew she'd blow the roof off vocally, but was extremely taken with her solid, very real Audrey.
THANK YOU for this clip. And thank you for finally casting a Seymour who isn't a Broadway pretty boy in glasses just to sell tickets (yes, they're all talented and sang/acted just fine).
I think Rob McClure is one of the best stage actors of our generation. From Chaplin to this, he transforms with every single role he takes on. He is a master! Ms. Hall is also fantastic!
Okay, so I don't know what's going on with Audrey's "Elvis lip curl thing" there (it's a tad bit distracting), BUT... She is the ONLY woman I've ever heard sing this song who has come CLOSE to Ellen Greene. She's got an amazing voice, and she OWNED this song. I got chills!
@@leilaclayton6770 Bummer, but I understand. Different people have different preferences. Hopefully there are other Audreys out there that you enjoy. 🙂
🥺♥️This is so perfect. Lena is incredible! They both are incredible! Dear Santa, I wish for getting the opportunity to watch the whole show online like this for Christmas.
So uhm...Christmas and my birthday is near, so I'm just checking in on the status of my said wish hehe ;). Just note that I'd be forever grateful if I find a proshot somewhere (or a google drive link with the proshot in my dm's). Love, Your biggest Lena Hall fan who lives across the ocean and can't come to see her X
This was so good, I had to turn my phone sideways. I have seen several professional productions of Little Shop and have never seen an Audrey portrayed this way. The way she was meant to be! Cheers to Lena Hall! Still have goosebumps.
I saw this over Christmas and holy shit there's a reason Little Shop of Horrors has been one of my favorite things over 35 years on this planet. AND Seymour was Jeremy Jordan from Supergirl and I LOVED his character there. Here's to another 35 years before I feed the plants!
I had the opportunity to see this great show in September last year and it was SO amazing!!! Had goosebumps so often while watching. It was a great pleasure!
They really really didn't release much promo material with Apatow because they didn't need it to sell tickets. Not sure if she was a strong enough singer for the part. Could be the other reason.
Maude Apatow seems such a delightful girl but I can't get my head around the transition from Lena Hall to her. These two have to be near the top of my Seymour/Audrey pairings of all time.
They need to sell tickets. Recognizable names sell. Most of the times they are not the best cast for the parts but it's a business. Apatow is a good actress for the part but as a singer... not in the right league.
This production took the role in a different direction. Gone are the days of the wispy Ellen Greene caricature and now Audrey is a street smart, Sally Bowles type. And honestly, it works.
I saw this with Jonathan Groff and Christian Borle. They were great and really seemed to enjoy riffing off each other. Tammy Blanchard was Audrey and, personally, I can't stand her. She had the same nasally sound as "How to Succeed in Business." Unfortunately, the role of Audrey is now - and forever - owned by Ellen Greene. ua-cam.com/video/uiPh0tKk9jc/v-deo.html
Her voice sounds AMAZING! If you’re talking about the ‘screlty’ sound to her belt it’s just her style! Lena Hall is known for her insane rock belt and she’s just adding her specialty to this role to make it her own
damn there is some overacting going on in these videos. not going to lie, i am salty a bunch of pro shot videos were not released when jonathan groff or skyler astin were in it. :| :|
@@williammclean1069 tammy got a lot of hate but i saw her as audrey live and she was PHENOMENAL. her acting and interpretation of the character moved me to tears
@@itshannahjayne I saw Tammy as Audrey 8 times, and she was truly brilliant and opened up the role in a way I’d never seen before. She was so raw, so present, so honest.
Wait, a Seymour who fits the character description and isn't a hunky tenor?
Slay.
THANK you
WORD!!!
He’s still cute tho.
Yea an excellent schlemeil!
I can't get over how much Rob is actually acting the song. And Lena is singing her face off.
I just love the choices they made here. Rob's voice is a little thinner and quieter than most Seymours, but Lena just absolutely belted the sh*t out of it anyway...and it works.

agreed, she’s so talented and it’s more of a rough around the edges performance… a little more madonna like i would say
I never thought I’d see Lena Hall in this role! Gives Audrey a rocker vibe and we know she has one hell of a belt.
This feels like most unique and most effective take on Audrey I've seen since Ellen. Sturdier. More Brooklyn. So much in those eyes, too. Love it.
Well said. I love Lena Hall and was excited to find this. I knew she'd blow the roof off vocally, but was extremely taken with her solid, very real Audrey.
So far, the only actress to follow the great Ellen's role as Audrey, that did it justice.
THE BEST rendition of this song I've heard in a long time!
That so right!❤
THANK YOU for this clip. And thank you for finally casting a Seymour who isn't a Broadway pretty boy in glasses just to sell tickets (yes, they're all talented and sang/acted just fine).
Saw Rob and Lena in this and they were superb!
Love Rob. Have seen him in BJ and Doubtfire and this too. Saw his last show here. And LENA was breathtaking. Hope to catch her solo shows.
Honestly though rob probably brought more ticket sales than the other guys. Except maybe JonGroff
I think he’s still kinda cute.
this is so backhanded i cant 😭

you also loved ellen greene’s voice too right? i did and watched the movie all the time growing up
@@libertyloveslife5602 But of course! Ellen Greene is amazing! 🥰
I watch it often, but I think Ellen's voice is too breathy and she portrays Audrey as the stereotypical "dumb blonde" a little too much. Not a fan

agreed with the lip...not necessary. but sung the hell out of it.

Did you see the video titled ‘paper mache coconut’ here on yet? Not with Lena but still worth checking out!🎉 and happy early/late birthday/Christmas!
THIS SEYMOUR. Perfectly played.
I really want a proshot of this production
Absolutely fantastic, Rob is perfect as Seymour, and Lena is such a refreshing take on Audrey ❤❤❤❤
my boyfriend and i traveled to new york jus to see this show. we saw rob mclure, and chelsea turbin. such an awesome show.
oh my god I was giddy through this whole performance! I love it!!!!

She brings the street toughness. Audrey really isn't a babe in the woods. I really enjoyed this
Two of the best i have seen play these roles
They are both so perfect wow wow
The perfect musical.
I very much loved this production. Im directing it at my school now
You both are simply incredible and "somewhere from outerspace" talented
Ahhh the chemistry!! Very very good :)
This was very well done! Thank you for the clip!
LOVE THESE TWO!!!!!
we need maude's video singing this amazing song too! lena and rob ate

Ok i dig this pairing
I love Lena’s Audrey so much
Audrey looks like she could be in Grease
Same era
Love the casting!!
Ok, this was perfect.
Wow. Just ... wow.

Wish they mixed the Urchins in a bit more. They really hit the last few bars.
I love the height difference!
2:17 3:16 Rob is the most adorable Seymour!!! OMG, what a romantic kiss!!!😍
Omg! This Audrey just claimed this song. It’s all hers from now on. 👏🏽

Proshot when?
Oh yes

Why is Audrey like that? She's supposed to be a sweet innocent girl...

Ya I'm not a fan of Tammy on the cast Recording. She don't have the right voice for Audrey in my opinion. It's to bad Lana didn't originate the role.
Tammy sounds too mature for Audrey. She's supposed be sweet and squeaky. Lena sounds a tad better. But yeah, Ellen Greene FTW.
What's with Audrey's lip curling.
Wish they’d keep her blonde
Not a fan of this rendition of Audrey at all, it is misrepresenting the character and it seems like a parody of an “independent woman from nyc”
You know he ain't never been that close to a chick that hot lol.
girl what
Don’t be a dick, he looks perfectly fine.
@@krislove1167 if that's your idea of fine your bar is really low lol.
This isn’t Audrey! Her performance doesn’t fir the character at all. She’s just singing the lyrics - zero character of emotion. Terrible.
What?!?

A little LONG in the tooth to be playing Seymour…. 😬
Is his age ever specified?
Then, clearly, you've never seen or heard the original production (or even pictures from it).

They did film it with Groff
I saw Skylar Astin live and his acting was incredible, I really wish we got clips of him and Christian Borle :[
You do realize they are acting for a big theatre right and not for film?
of course YOU want vids of hot hunky guys as Seymour... you obviously don't get the show or his character...
