The arcade version of SF1 was really fast and it felt every round was sudden death, fast and deadly it could end in seconds compared to SF2 and the unforgivable SF1 conversion on the amiga, thank god I own the arcade SF1 machine :-D
A fantastic update, re-working the graphics and adding the missing levels, as well as a few gameplay tweaks. To those stating "this is the version we should've got", a couple of points: 1: This is a cartridge image so there are no multi-load or memory limitations to worry about (well, far less memory limitations anyway). The original version was programmed to fit into a single load. 2: No time limitations or deadlines. The original version was programmed in just a few weeks. Still, this IS a fantastic version, no doubt about it.
To be fair the game was begun in July 2014 and was complete at xmas 2014. the remaining time was taken by the musicians to do all the tunes and SFX. While we were waiting we did the 2nd Commando update to Special Edition status.
I love the idea of remakes for the likes of C64 and Spectrum. I wish they made a new version of each machine so we can hook them up to our monitors now and relive the glory days
I'd actually like to see someone do remakes of the REALLY bad C64 ports like Chase HQ and see what can be done with them...same for a remake of Double Dragon
I wish someone would take this version but sync in the arcade music consistantly throughout the game. It would be neat to hear the primitive SID chip do that- the SID chip always had that tinny "almost there" sound...
Man I played this game a lot on my bread box. It is so nice to see a version that kinda got the music right- even if for some weird reason the developer waited until level 2. I like the idea of playing the classic C64 music during the intro as a nod to nostalgia, but the original C64 music always bothered me as it was so far from arcade acurate. I remember when the NES came out and Nintendo NAILED it! I packed the old C64 away and I don't think it came out again until 2011 ish when my son came of age. If only Commodore could have figured out the whole music thing back in the day...
ahh man would love if you did a commentary version of this game with a comparison, i know i know, time consuming, i understand, but the original version was a bollox lol

Or Street Fighetr 1,...doesn't hurt to dream, only hurts when you wake up :-(

An excellent remake really showing off what the C64 was truly capable of in the right hands.
Wow, just imagine playing G n G in the arcade and then getting this version for your birthday back in the day...

The ZX version could do with a remake including 128k music.

The music is really good in this version :D
I don't think the original could be improved on tbh, that was a cracking tune.
@ZEUSDAZ The original's music was COMPLETELY wrong, especially the cheesy part later in the game...
I want to travel back in time and have this released as a pack-in cartridge for the C64GS :D
I had this in a coctail cabinet back in the early 90s.
It shows that the original version that made Elite could be much better done. This achieves much better the taste of the original arcade.
I hope you enjoy my channel enough to

If only they did it to the sequel.
do you mean ghouls and ghost remake for C64???
Well, yeah

Ghosts n Goblins forever !!!
This story has a happy ending.
Not really, te Princess turned out to be a right demanding little trollop, poor Arthur is now a henpecked husband lol.
start from 10:50, they use the same arcade iconic tune
Great job but i like more the original music
The arcade version is the origional music- this version "kinda" fixes the origionals mistake...
Can this be purchased on floppy w/box and documentation? That would be killer!
Very nice title tune :)
Awesome tune.
Just now seeing this. Very cool. Some aspects of it are better than the arcade version IMO. (not all, but some of pixel art, and music are nicer)
missing the tim follin soundtrack
someone needs to remake spelunker for the c64, and make one like spelunker HD
Gameplay starts at 8:30 You’re welcome
Gotta leave the full tune intact for the masses!
Like it but rather the original due to what they did in 1986
This is a very good lovely remake...but, what about the collision between the object ?
Cheat trainer enabled.
super achievement!
Impressive, most impressive! This is the version we should've received 30 years ago. Ah well, better late than never. :D
I still have a love for the original, I just loved that music!
Be sure to tune in this Sunday, a new SGT video will be up and It's a nightmare!!!
I look forward to it!
Phenomenal game
damn, this is way better than NES 👍
It’s not better
God mode must have been enabled cause you got hit a lot early but it didn't kill you. Much easier than the original. Still great for C64.
Did you read the description?!
Just want to see the game
Great game, real classic
Yes It's a great update but I still have a warm place for the original C64 version :-)
I prefer the butler ``'86 version
👍👍👍👍! Great !
ahh man would love if you did a commentary version of this game with a comparison, i know i know, time consuming, i understand, but the original version was a bollox lol
I shall think about it ;-)
lol, cheers, look forward to it when you get time man.
awesome! is it free? where to find it?
Yep free :-)

Wow, the graphics could almost pass for early 16 bit. Noice!
The original music was better.
Agreed.
I don't know who's playing but he has a really bad hand-eye coordination.
My Labrador Snoopy.
