  • One of the three main routes came through New Philadelphia, Massillon and on into Cuyahoga Falls and Hudson before heading northward to Cleveland. A decent amount of help was provided with the use of homes, churches, stores, tunnels and alleyways. In the 1836 report of the American Anti-Slavery Society, headed by Ogden Wetmore, has 50 Cuyahoga Falls members listed. One would assume there were at least a handful more by the time the house was built four years later.
