i would refrain from comparing the hardcastle version to this. stylistically, they are two completely different tunes. hardcastle's original is lovely, and so is this interpretation. let's not get caught up in the fact that this is a cover. hatchett and hardcastle cleared this when we were all very young children or didn't yet matter. there certainly covers you can compare to originals, or even better covers one can compare with other covers like the pretenders and jone's cover of private life (love both but pretenders have the edge here) jones' was based on her dub formula for most of her songs, and thus didn't achieve the amount of originality for the cover that the pretenders achieved in my opinion. but here hatchets cover of hardcastle's tune, is just almost a different tune and it's even in a different key. both are beautiful and compliment each other nicely.

'Rain Forest' was a BIG radio crossover hit in the 80's receiving much airplay on both AM and FM radio, similar to Paul's other big hit '19'. Everyone knows this is Paul's original song and all writing credits for this are under his name only. Frank's is simply a cover version, and there were other artists who covered this tune as well. Not sure if IronMan93 is trying to troll or is just willfully ignorant. You should remove the false year.
