I have been on SSI for several years and have finally got my 70% rating. I am 71 years old and my SSI has rolled over to SS retirement. Does it permit me to maintain my SS retirement while maintaining my VA? Thank you for your help
I have a question can I get Social Security retirement and tdiu from the VA or is that double-dipping. And if I can get both which is not double-dipping I can apply at 62 or 67. So please answer my question
Same problem here. Worked all my life paying into FICA 3 years military one year Vietnam 33 years working for the federal government when I retired I started working full-time on my disability, I had no idea that I could have also applied for SSDI. But once I got my hundred percent I found out almost two years later that I could have applied for SSDI, when I call them the only thing they would say is oh we're sorry you're over the 10-year limit. So even at the hundred percent VA disability still don't make enough to live on in this economy if I get an apartment can I have no money left for food, utilities, insurance, or gas for the car and forget about going out anywhere for any kind of vacation or enjoyment of anything.
Confusing! I'm 57 and currently VA rated at 70%. I want to retire at 62.5 because no man in my family has lived past 70. So, at 62.5, will I be able to keep my 70% and receive Social Security Retirement?
Thank you for your valuable information provided today. Upon notifying your organization and signing the contract roughly how long does it take to receive a hearing involving a reconsideration / appeal case? Last question upon receipt of a V.A. determination letter awarding 100% P & T with addendum supporting permanent disability and notifying your organization of such new information do these new documents speed up and or move you ahead in the SSA and ODD reconsideration process?
You'll just have to apply directly with Social Security. You'll need medical evidence to back your claim up (i.e. a verified sign note from your doctor, x-rays, MRIs, etc.)
Age has nothing to do with Social Security disability payments. It has to do with your disability on whether you qualify or not. If you qualify, the amount you receive is dependent on the amount that you paid into the system during the amount of years you've worked.
So I was on ssi then was upgraded to va pension. I could not get the full social security disability, not because i never paid into the system but because i waited for so long after working to apply. You should mention that you ‘AGE OUT’ of SSDI once you draw SS retirement. Can’t get both, though you can get VA disability in addition to either SSDI or SS retirement. Knowing that would have saved me from listening to bad MUSAK for a while.
Can you collect your military pension with 100% va disability and ssdi? My Dad was just has 100% P&T and SSDI but was denied his pension ( Reservist 21.5 years and injured in 2004 war) said his income of 39k was too high. ???? what is he missing ? can he collect all 3 ?
