The regenerative breaking is adjustable. You can turn it off if you want. They are fun, but ownership is not as fun. Mine has had a few issues and now gets 20 miles to a charge. Its under warranty and zero wont fix it. Ive thrown a fit and they won't do more than update the firmware which buys them a few more months. Im sure they are buying time till the warranty runs out. They suck real real hard. So if anyone wants one, buy used or buy a cheaper bike. The warranty isnt good for anything with this hack company. Im sure they will be out of business soon. Thanks for the video though.
Unfortunately I'm not surprised to hear that. One of the pitfalls of smaller companies is they just don't have the support you'd expect from the larger ones. Hopefully they make things right for you
Zero has been around since 2006 so a good 18 years if you count time to just get the company up and started. I do not see it closing up any time soon. But if you want a small company to do right just sue them, when they see it is cheaper to fix it then you will get what you want and they pay for the attorney. If it keeps happening they will start honoring their warranty more and more because it is better than being sued all the time and paying for attorneys.
That sucks to hear. I had a problem with the battery controller when I first got mine, but they took care of it right away. Since then(two years) the bike has seen constant use as an almost-daily commuter(I don't do rain on 2 wheels). Off road, it is not exactly a CRF450RL, but it is relatively capable as long as you don't compare it to a dirtbike aside from it being scary fast off road. If you compare it to a Surron, it basically makes the Surron look like the toy that it is. But the Surron also excels in the right off road conditions. The FX is an excellent dual sport. But back to the original post response: Really sorry to hear yours has issues. Maybe contact BBB and see what they can do for you, if anything. I wish you luck.
Hmmm. I got a 2021 Zero SR, only issue I ever had was a bubbling headlight enclosure that the parts rep bugged Zero to replace under warranty, when they were trying to say it's my fault. Any time I've called them personally though they've been very responsive. Do you have any updates on the battery? So does it not charge to 100%? Sounds like a charger or balancing issue. If it's under warranty I'm pretty sure they're legally obligated to fix it. I thought all their batteries were warrantied for 5 years. Maybe your dealership sucks? Out of all of their bikes it seems the FXE is the least reliable, from my reading so far.
@@MemesByMorshu Yeah for sure the dealer, service department specifically sucks. Sucks bad. There is an allowance of how much they expect the battery to degrade each year. I cant remember what it is, but the warranty is pretty safely biased in their favor. I often take the bike on a 22 mile loop. Some days I barely make it home with 13%. Other days when the charge is fresh and the wind is at my back Ill have about 20-25% left. But its no where near what they state it will be. The warranty states "Zero will only repair or replace pursuant to this Limited Warranty a Power Pack that exhibits a nominal storage capacity reduction of greater than 20% of the published nominal capacity, as measured by an authorized Zero dealer. To check the capacity of a Power Pack, an authorized Zero dealer can perform a battery management system log data extraction, which will confirm if a reduction is within expected norms." And miraculously their tests will almost always prove it is within its acceptable degradation levels, unless is something more catastrophic at which they will likely have another excuse. Everytime I talk to them on the phone they are sweet as pie, and give no real response other than, please work with the dealer service department, of which they dont give a damn, cant do much, and have to play bad cop.
I got fooled into buying an early model and it had a controller issue and the bike would die unexpectedly. Scary. Bought a 2016 FX after a few years but little mileage, the batteries failed. 😢
I have 13k miles on a 22 FXE and I love it. Most of my rides are 50-60 miles on forest roads and secondary roads to get to them. I've stretched 100 miles on a full battery, but that takes some work! I will never be more than 45 miles from my house and that's the way it is! Range anxiety is real until you learn the regen game and having GPS with distance home helps. You cannot ride 2 people on the bike for any distance either. Too small. It would be difficult for anyone to have the 7.2 as an only bike because of the range and slow charging, but the thing is a blast, and if you don't respect the torque, it will throw you down in gravel or on grass a minimum of one time each ! I also have an XMax and a F750GS.
Cool vid , I'm still debating on if I should get the srs or the fx to just ride around whenever I don't want to drive my car I wonder if it ever crossed their minds to make a zero reverse trike , for anybody that might not feel comfortable riding on 2 wheels , cause if they did they might be able to put a bigger battery which would end up possibly having more range

Looking at a 23’ demo for 9.5k???
What model was the red/orange bike the gentleman next to you was riding?

Looked into electric for both my bike and vehicle, but it just doesn't make sense due to charging and range.
Yeah I could see these bikes as solid day commuters but if you really wanted to travel it could be a problem

Much appreciated!
12k plus I dunno
I would pay $7,000... not worth $11,000+
