Most soothing videos to watch and fall asleep to. Your voice is just so easy to listen to and very calming (hope that's not weird) been following your channel for a while. You never disappoint. Thanks for all your tips and advice and helping me become a better painter
Been looking for a guide to this scheme that I could actually understand as a beginner. Thank you! Would love to see some of the larger models in this scheme, or even some of the other Termagant weapons
For some reason I still prefer the bright and colorful 2nd ed Tyranids to all subsequent versions. Also love Adrian Smith's artwork. His black and white pieces in the old Realm of Chaos books always blew my mind. Thanks Mr. Matt.
Incredible, I think im going to pick up some tyranids and do this scheme, think instead of the yellow for the eyes and gun details though i will use the blue you used for the tongue! amazing video!
Very enjoyable video. Oddly calming. Your version at seems a little less time consuming than Infernal Bushes take on this colour-scheme from a while back lol
This is such a preposterously complex scheme, but it looks really nice and you did a good job bringing it to life. If I ever had a small-scale Tyranid project, I'd probably choose this. But it's just too much for me when considering the quantity of gaunts you need for a full-size 40k game.
The scheme's complexity is definitely real, and I think it's likely the reason we never saw a studio army painted like the cover art. That being said I think we simplified it into something a little more manageable! Thanks for watching!
Definitely individuality, at least with Tyranids and Orks since they’re very organic…not so much with Space Marines, since they’re wearing armor, maybe just some variations on weathering and damage for them.
This is a great guide. I love this scheme, but have only seen it done with gratuitous amount of wet blending. Yours has a very doable painting style for a whole army.
individuality to me depends on the army! tyranids for example can have very naturalistic variation. on the other hand uniformity is good for well, uniforms! but i can imagine imperial guard having more personalization within than tau would, for example 🙃
That's a good question! I'm not sure either. I have some more Old World stuff to get to. No Votann for a while at least; I still need to look at their range and pick up a kit for the channel.
Thanks for watching the channel! Sorry to hear you dont like the premiere feature. It provides a good opportunity to chat with viewers. I like it a lot.
Hey , your scheme is amazing bro ! Exactly what i want ! you think the result would seems similary with Citadel grey seer primer ? i dont have air brush 😭
I was going to start painting my nyds based off of your tiamat scheme. I have all of the paints and everything. Howeverr..... its to late to change but i might.
@@Saturn_Studios16 I think I'd probably go with a light purple for Tiamet (something like genestealer purple, shade with magos) and I think a light blue would work well for the 3rd ed guys. Either the same color as the tongue, or maybe lighter.
Any chance you could do a leviathan version? StrikingScorpion82 has a few Leviathan scheme tutorials up but he finishes after the contrast is applied and I am finding it a bit lacking. I agree with you and think the highlights on the chitin are a primary feature of Tyranid schemes. I have some old termagants that I am testing out color schemes on before I commit on the larger models. Thanks for the tutorials!
Thanks! I do have Leviathan in the queue, I've just been pushing it back because there seems to be so much Leviathan out there already. I always liked doing schemes that are less popular. But we've gotten a few requests for Leviathan by now so I better get working on it! Thanks for watching!
might be! But compared to edge highlighting space marines, and painting all the pouches, tubes, heraldry, etc... I'd gladly take a few hundred tyranids!
Quick question, I love this color scheme and I'm about to paint my entire army this style including Screamer Killer, Winged Hive Tyrant, Swarmlord and many more, but I do not have an airbrush. You mentioned that if we don't have the primer you used to prime the model white and airbrush dawnstone. Would just priming it with dawnstone with a regular brush work or do you have another suggestion? MIght be to big of an ask, but have you considered also doing some of the bigger Tyranids like the ones I mentioned above in this color scheme? I plan to wing it and just follow the same principles you used here for the highlights and color parts and just upscale and adjust, but it would be good to see your take on the rest of Tyranids.
Yes you could brush on the Dawnstone over white primer. You could also prime with Mechanicus Grey instead, and then drybrush Dawnstone over the top. That would look similar. But maybe a little darker in the end. I would encourage you to do a test model to make sure you like the results first. Feel free to join our discord and share your progress! I'd love to see your army. I don't have any plans to revisit this scheme in the immediate future but things can always change! Thanks for watching!
Hi Matt! great video as ever! I have a question for you about a project im working on, and I'd love some experienced advice. Currently, im about to start painting Mezgike's dredge marines. If you dont know them, they're deep sea diving Deathguard proxies. How would you get a good old timey diver finish on them? The obvious answer is brass, rust, and virdigris, but im worried, given they're almost entirely armor, it might be overwhelming the detail of the models. Any thoughts or ideas on how to not do so? It'd be much appreciated!
that sounds like a really cool concept! I think you're right to be concerned with overwhelming the detail on the models. I would think about another color to include on the armor, to break up the brass a bit. I think something very dark and slightly muted would break up the brass and avoid clashing with it; black, or a very dark green/blue would be my suggestions. I'd check out my Verminlord video for a weathered brass recipe; I think that would fit the theme. Good luck!
This is an amazing color scheme, but there're too many steps for each little model, even before the highlights. This guide is for someone brave enough or with a lot of free time, maybe both, haha. Still pretty good.
Thanks for watching! The great thing about this hobby is we can all decide what amount of detail is right for us. I always like to include a little extra in my guides; that way all the steps are there for those who want them, and if you want to skip some steps that is great too!
This is the scheme I’ve been waiting for
Great! Hope you give it a shot!
Might have to give this theme a go! Looks fantastic Matt!!
thanks! Hope you give it a shot!
I was literally just getting back into tyranids and searched for this and it came out a few days ago.. perfect timing! Thank you for the great video
That's great to hear! Good luck with your army!
Yeah this is a Fantastic method to paint this scheme, Its very realistic in terms of how long it would take to batch paint an army. Great work Matt
Thanks! Glad you feel that way!
