Interesting. Yet, MURS wasn't instituted until October 8, 2020. They used to be "business band" frequencies in yhe nineties. They were the wide band FM blue dot (154.570Mhz) and green dot (154.600Mhz) and three narrow banded FM (151mhz) channels. A few RadioShack models, including one mobile, was designed to program many business channels by DIP switch. Now, you can use them as MURS but, i think all channels are required to be NFM. However, i don't think there is much compliance, if its used at all. I have several realistic and RadioShack BTX123 that come with green dot tx/rx crystals. You can still find blue dot crystals as well. Its mot difficult to have a supplier to program a higher powered VHF mobile, or MARS mod amateur equipment to use those frequencies.
FCC assigned MURS in fall of 2000. All these radio services never made the cut with the public, mainly cause its does not have the capability as a cell phone service.
I have some Maxons. I would love to get my hands on a pair of those radioshack ones with the telescopic whip still intact.
i have 2 radio shack walkitalkies fixed at 49.83 mc. problem they have telescoping antennas . telescoping antennas and i dont mix.
We could use new 5 channel 2 way radios with a digital display with AM-FM, SSB and digital voice.
There should be six meter tech for this, at much higher power.
i wonder which has more range- 49mhz, 152mhz or 470mhz?

@@KC4VYY hey, you are right! No prize, though. That's my mistake, it's a typing error.
