The only downside with your round the world trip Sam, is we don’t get to see Tony on a regular basis!!! You need to encourage him to set up his own channel. He’s hilarious. I can’t bring myself to watch the incredibly childish low quality Toms channel to see Tony who often appears there.
Racelinekarting Toms channel actually used to be good when it started, it’s now so pathetic it’s unwatchable.
Paul Whitehorn couldn’t agree more. I happen to comment on Archie’s channel that his would improve without Tom in every video at the time. Had a reply from Tom telling me to ‘Sod off’ 😂😂 Having to listen to the constant yep yep yep and the words chaos and carnage every 60 secs was enough to hit the unsubscribe button.

I see that on every video so many people are recommending the Alfa Giulia QV, but you never mention it as a contender. Any particular reason? That would definitely be my first choice
They tend to have a lot of small issues that end up with it In the shop most of the time. Buddy of mine has one and most of the miles he's put on it are to and from the shop.

Personally I love Alfa’s, the SZ is in my top 5 favourite cars and I regret not buying a near perfect one when I had the chance, it was a huge mistake. They are a labour of love though, the SZ was gonna be my special weekend car which is all it ever could have been as even the new ones are not good enough reliability wise to consider owning one as a daily!

He should go with the BMW 1M for the trip. Install roof box for added space & practicality. It has loads of character, limited edition so would hardly depreciate. Add some great stories to it, not only it will not depreciate, people would pay more by the time he wants to sell the car. BMW is pretty much in every country you could think of, it will be a lot easier (compared to Porsche) to get parts and help, should he need them.

Sam, I couldn't agree more about how you feel about Porsche as a brand once exposed to it. I wanted one my entire life - my first driving experience was steering a 911 on the highway when I was 5! - and now that I have a 718 Boxster, it's everything I wanted it to be.
That’s what I like about Tony, he is like me, likes the car that HE likes, he don’t care about what other people say about it, good or not.

I understand shying away from the Macan and Panamera, however having recently picked up a Panamera GTS and driving it for 9hrs back to my home... I feel like it's an incredible "GT" car that has enough sport feel and power (turbo models have even more) to be fun while going round the world. Plus loads of space. Good luck with the ongoing search.

Basically my dream car the Gen 2 997. Tell Tony I’ll happily take it off him in exchange for my Golf R, which is what you should be going around the world in Sam! Reliable, practical, all weather, good enough ground clearance, enough room etc etc .. it’s Oryx White too which suits it well 😉

Sam- maybe you should consider the S3 for the world tour. It’s very sporty, handles nicely, and you have cargo space for luggage, etc.
It’s okay to be Porsche obsessed, they are such great cars. Regarding the “around the world car”, I feel like an SUV might be the best choice, maybe a Range Rover or a Jag, or an Urus.
Had a Tiguan in Germany just like that (TDI/manual, R-Line). Handled well on the autobahn and twisties.
I know this goes completely against the driving style you enjoy. However for character the Land Rover Defender has plenty of it. It is also quircky, fairly reliable (parts and shops everyehere) and I'm sure you will bond with it. Cheers, keep up the good work!

Get a 997.1 gt3. Cheap, fun, reliable (PIN THE COOLANT LINES). And if you got a lil partnership with exetc to fit a tarmac spec rally suspension, you could take it everywhere on comfort and performance and keep it as a collectible with a tremendous cool story.
What about a W204 6.2L Mercedes C63? Practical and Affordable, Pick one up for around £20k, Plenty of Character too.
Any video with Tony in just makes me happier.

100% the base 911's are underappreciated on UA-cam. They don't get the views, but if by "accessible" you mean that people drive them every day and they are FANTASTIC sports cars, then sure :)

Old Bentley Supersports are phenomenal to drive and sound really good with a quicksilver exhaust. The carbon buckets are also a charm. Just hide in the bushes when it goes in for a service

The 997. 2 GT3 is more made for nice trips around the mountains or nice streets. The more "daily" alternative would be the new one 991.2 with PDK.

I have found the only issues with the continental is that they are on par with Mclaren as far as having to re-sell them. They have a tendency to float around dealerships for far too long. On the other hand wafting around the world with massaging seats does have a nice appeal to it. Then again when you inevitably get to that point in asia where roads are a thing of the past navigating a car the size of a boat sounds like purgatory. Love the content Sam, I do think you should get Tony along for a leg of the journey!?

Your clutch safety switch is bad on your GT3. It’s fairly common and a very easy fix. I believe it was a recall or service bulletin about it back in the day

By far the best car to tour the world would be a 991.2 911 Carrera 4 GTS. Comfortable, reliable, 450 hp and AWD for the in climate weather you may come across. Run winter tires for the snow.
I’ll say it one more time - classic 911 with a roof rack and rally livery - content gold and you won’t regret it
